Ask a Pirate Thread - IllegallySane - 2009-09-02 USMC Wrote:Level one sounds weak o.O WRONG. The true level is when Dragon Strike outdamage two SSKs, which has to be over 2,280%. That's a level 11 Dragon Strike, which jumps in damage from 1,100 damage to 4 enemies at level 1 to 2,375% to 5 enemies at level 11. Why? Because in the time you do one Dragon Strike, it's possible to do up to two SSKs. Ask a Pirate Thread - Bountyan - 2009-09-02 USMC Wrote:Level one sounds weak o.O I kind of still used Somersault Kick every once in a while for close up mobs until Dragon Strike was lv11. Dragon Strike under that has incredibly weak damage, and isn't as fast as Somersault Kick. Ask a Pirate Thread - USMC - 2009-09-02 Alright thanks for the input, I'm glad I don't have to wait till it's 21 or some pomegranate to actually use it xD Ask a Pirate Thread - Manu - 2009-09-03 At what lvl does barrage become better than drain for bosses? *thinking max drain and barrage+lvl 22 DS combo. Ask a Pirate Thread - Yon - 2009-09-03 lvl 168 corsair with 3 points saved and not sure on what to add my points to next I'm sorta leaning towards either Air Strike or Elemental boost but wanted to get some input from some other Corsairs. My current skill build is Battleship (Max) Cannon (Max) Rapid Fire (Max) Torpedo (Max) Elemental boost (1) Octo (1) Air Strike (1) Hypnotize (1) Bullseye (Max) Maple Warrior (19) Hero's Will (1) Before I reached this level I was sure I was going to just work on Air Strike but in all honesty I rarely use this skill while training if ever so I was wondering if it would be a wise decision to work on elemental boost for more dmg from freeze/flamethrower. Ask a Pirate Thread - Dusk - 2009-09-03 Of course you rarely use it, yours is only level 1. It's not even that useful until 21. It easily does 55k+ at your level. Definitely max. Ask a Pirate Thread - KaidaTan - 2009-09-04 I'm actually in the exact same situation (SP wise) as Yonny, but I think I'm going to go Air Strike. I can already 2hko the monsters on Oblivion 2 all the time, so doing more freeze damage isn't an issue for me. I just like the idea of -- after getting max Air Strike -- being probably the best non-mage class at Skelegons. And hell, Air Strike could 3hko Oblivion 2 by the time I max it. Though I have to say, I almost went Octo. It's like a slow Snipe at bosses. But it's stronger. Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2009-09-04 KaidaTan Wrote:It's like a slow Snipe at bosses. But it's stronger. How is octo stronger than snipe. Ask a Pirate Thread - KaidaTan - 2009-09-04 Takebacker Wrote:How is octo stronger than snipe.Well, think of it like this. Snipe is fire-and-forget, right? You fire, it does 200k, you continue doing whatever you were doing. Octo is actually surprisingly similar. You drop it (instead of firing) and forget about it. It does as much damage as it can over its duration then disappears. If I were to have it maxed at my current power, it would do about 290k over the duration of its life. The only involvement you have with the skill is casting it. After that, it does its damage and disappears. Its different from normal summons (such as Phoenix) in that you can have more than one out at a time, so you can effectively only cast Phoenix every 200 seconds. So your plan of attack is actually similar to that of a Marksman. Cast Octo, attack, cast octo as soon as it's back up, attack, repeat. Marksmen, as you know, interrupt their normal routine (in this case, spamming Strafe) to cast Snipe because snipe does more instantaneous DPS than Strafe. This means that Snipe is worth casting because Snipe can do more damage than you could have were you to not cast it and just spam Strafe. At bosses, Octo would be treated the same way. Since you can't do 290k damage in the time it takes to cast an Octopus, you would want to use Octo as much as possible, as soon as it comes back up. The downfalls of Octo compared to Snipe are that it does its damage slowly, thus allowing the boss to guard/die and prevent a portion of Octo's damage from being done, and that Octo only likes to actually attack the monster within its range under certain circumstances. I have yet to figure out exactly what it is that makes Octo do nothing even when both he and I are within 300 pixels of the monster its attacking, but he usually works for you if you put him close enough to the target. Ask a Pirate Thread - JaredTheUnseen - 2009-09-04 KaidaTan Wrote:Well, think of it like this. Snipe is fire-and-forget, right? You fire, it does 200k, you continue doing whatever you were doing. I agree with most of this, octo certainly does have a potential to be great. And another thing that kind of hinders it in comparison to Snipe is that, say you're soloing zakum and you throw up an octo on the arms. It's not going to attack the same arm you are, is it? Most likely not, it'll just attack one of the arms within range. If it even does attack, since he does like to sit there and look pretty. He also likes to aggro spawn and drag it towards you. And just aggro in general. Ask a Pirate Thread - USMC - 2009-09-04 You can have more than 1 octo out? o.O That's alot of damage ![]() Bucc should get that
Ask a Pirate Thread - shouri - 2009-09-04 You can toss out another octopus every 10 seconds. Ask a Pirate Thread - Dusk - 2009-09-04 Aggroing is never a problem for Corsairs. The entire point of Air Strike is to aggro 6 monsters and weaken them to ~half HP so you can gun them down very quickly with Torpedo. Ask a Pirate Thread - Reflexx - 2009-09-04 I was wondering if theres such a corsair build where you go rapid fire first? how does the DPM of maxed rapid fire compare to max cannon? Ask a Pirate Thread - KaidaTan - 2009-09-04 Reflexx Wrote:I was wondering if theres such a corsair build where you go rapid fire first? how does the DPM of maxed rapid fire compare to max cannon?Rapid Fire is about 60% as strong as Cannon. As for Octo, I was mostly talking about using it for bossing. I never use Octo during training because all it does is aggro things. It doesn't really matter if he attacks the same arm as you since he doesn't get the boost from Homing like you do. Though I guess the damage he does could be healed by the heal arm over time. I just decided to go Air Strike because I will probably do skelegon parties in the near future and Air Strike makes skeles your bitches. I'm definitely going Octo right after Air Strike. Ask a Pirate Thread - fiftyschmooo - 2009-09-04 i Seriouslyy havent touched octo since i left newties, it doesnt help in skeles, just agro's them to the point they want to kill you>.> if your @ a boss liek Zakum, its more damage to use a cannon on body than waste that time to cast octo and do ur lvl back flip(can summons even crit?) but i looked at it like this, i cast octo which will deal like 5-10K every 3 seconds for 45 seconds or w/e which (i have no idea how dude came out to 290K damage in its cast time since maxed master octo would have to deal like.... 20K per hit, which seems high from what ive seen from videos even tho ive never used it with an apple or anything but in my opinion using a cannon that does like.. 25K-liek 38K un crit X 4 that 100% hits the body no matter where you attack from (assuming your facing Zakum) and i THINK... (not 100% sure on this) but dont you also need to dismount your ship to cast which would take the time u could do 2-3 cannons at least which is liek a MINNIMUM of 300K even if i were to deal min damages for 3 cannon attacks in a row.. so it is a little lost on me, now that being said.. it migth be worth while to cast it during Rapid fire spells(when ship breaks) and migth be worth while to cast when it does uber super Def up (somewhere near the end of it) so u can get a little kick of damage.. but overall i dont really see the point in using summons that dont last long at all
Ask a Pirate Thread - Dusk - 2009-09-04 JaredTheUnseen Wrote:Yeah but that's AS. I was talking about octo. Right, but what I'm trying to say is, at least at Skeles, it doesn't matter if you have 2-3 Skeles with 20K HP off them because your Octo shot them a few times, because when it's time to kill them off, you're just going to freeze the whole mob and Torpedo them 3 times, then Cannon the stragglers. Having them following you around and shooting you is just makes your job easier. But yeah, Octo is pretty useless when training. |
