Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - SuperNerd - 2015-04-20 Arrol Wrote:They can change from regular to Chaotic after fighting them a couple of times? How'd that work? Certain monsters can only be fought in GQ, as most know, but even then, you can only fight a few select monsters by leveling specific monster's GQ level to a level beyond what is classified as "G-Rank", which starts somewhere in the 12x like Doctor Omega said. This is really only required if you want to fight monsters with more powerful versions of themselves (not sub-species, that's different): - Gore Magala --> Chaotic Gore Magala - Deviljho --> Savage Deviljho - Rajang --> Furious Rajang There may be more, but those are the only ones I know of for sure. Additionally, if you get the GQ to level 140+, the monster also becomes Apex. Jho becoming Savage @ 126+ is false. Mine's at 13x and just goes Frenzied occasionally. Ahhhh, it appears you're right. I only skimmed the thread that I read it from. False indeed, the only way to fight Savage Pickle is to find him in an unstable, RARE G-Rank expedition. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Arrol - 2015-04-22 Doctor Omega Wrote:>745 Defense Well ain't that comfortable. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-04-23 It's fucking pigshit, that's what it is. The guild quest system is broken as hell anyway, and that just makes it even more so. This game is working my last nerve. I'm one more bullshit death away from trading this game for Majora's Mask. -_- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Hypermug - 2015-04-29 Can someone please explain why in G RANK am I still seeing people with mismatched armor sets with no skills, and why people still DON'T LET THE MONSTER FALL ASLEEP when it's weakened?? Like wtp, do you not want a free hit or easy kill from setting up traps/bombs? This really pissed me off when trying to do the nerscylla capture quest. Ugh. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-04-29 Hypermug, I wish I knew. I actually made the Jade Battlefanzers the other day, which are an incredible set of dual blades with both water and sleep. In most quests, I can put the monster to sleep a MINIMUM of four times, giving us ample opportunities to sleep bomb/GS charge the monster's head. Does that ever happen though? Nope, not even close. I pre-edited a shoutout to let people know when I was going to put it to sleep, and to please be careful not to wake it up. None of that matters though. No one watches, no one reads, and everyone wakes it up. The only suggestion I have for you is to just start kicking people. I know that sounds harsh, but that is truly the only way you're going to get a decent team. I'm not trying to be fascist, but if you join one of my G-rank rooms, you'd better meet the following requirements otherwise you're getting instantly kicked: 1. At least 650 defense for normal G-rank quests, 700+ for level 136 or higher guild quests 2. At least 3 good skills that work together 3. Both wystones if we are doing ANYTHING apex 4. A weapon that you KNOW HOW TO USE 5. That weapon must have decent attack 6. If you've got -10 or less resistance to thunder and we're fighting a Zinogre, Rajang, or Kirin, you'd better eat for Thundercaller (this also goes for any elemental weakness) While we're in quests, if you do any of the following, you get instantly kicked after the quest is over: 1. Repeatedly use attacks that launch teammates 2. Continually attacking the monster's head, staggering hammer and other users specifically trying to KO the monster 3. Wake a monster up after being told to watch for sleep 4. Spend the first ten minutes of the quest gathering instead of helping with the fight 5. Attack a monster while it's mounted, causing the mounter to be thrown 6. Kick teammates while they're gathering or carving 7. Start the quest then AFK 8. Die more than once in a single quest (semi-flexible on this, especially if we are fighting an Apex Rajang or something similarly annoying) All of that may sound like a Nazi approach to questing, but this game is NOT like 3U. It is much more difficult and monsters require teams that work together, not teams that try to function on individual teammates. When guild quests reach upwards of level 136, you are no longer afforded the luxury of running random weapons and armor with any hope of victory. I have a very hard time enjoying this game because of people that do shit like me and Hypermug described. I'm currently Gold Crown, HR 161 and I've seen (on more than one occasion) people who are HR 200+, still G1, wearing armor with sub 500 defense, and no wystones. I don't understand it at all. If you want to hunt with me, get your shit in line or your ass is getting kicked. Period. Even though people are to blame for their own suckage, the lack of voice chat doesn't help either. In 3U, I could just vocalize, "ITS ASLEEP, ITS ASLEEP, STOP ATTACKING" and everyone would get the message. Because Capcom decided to be a wad of dicks this time around, we don't have that luxury. All we have are pre-edited shoutouts we can use that, most of the time, don't work. There are many game mechanics in 4 that are irresponsible and hard to look past. I enjoy the game, but I have not hit the same level of euphoria I did while playing 3U. To be quite honest, I don't know if I'll ever reach that point with 4. Tri and 3U were just better all-around. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - OrionTempest - 2015-04-29 Was trying to get the last few Rusted Kushala parts I needed the other day. Failed several times before getting a good group because people would try using Flash Bombs while he was in the air. And missing. Repeatedly. Then you get that one special person who insists on trying to trap Teostra/Kushala/Kirin. (Admittedly, I tried trapping Kirin the first time I fought one in LR, then remembered it was considered an Elder Dragon for whatever reason.) Also leveled up my Jho GQ yesterday for Divine Spheres and Graven Charms, he just started destroying randoms as soon as he hit 136. Although I'm tempted to just chalk that up to inexperience, I still find myself underestimating Apex's breath range occasionally. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-04-30 OrionTempest Wrote:Was trying to get the last few Rusted Kushala parts I needed the other day. Failed several times before getting a good group because people would try using Flash Bombs while he was in the air. And missing. Repeatedly. Well, in their defense, flash bombs are the only thing that make Rusted Kushala tolerable. Anything that makes that wind-spamming fuckface stand still for even five seconds is a blessing. He's like the Khezu, Rathian, and Rathalos. They all are a bunch of pussies that stay airborne way too long. Spamming flash bombs is the only way to make them get the fuck down and fight. The only reason I even fight Rusted Kushala is because the drop rate for large elder dragon gems and Daora hardhorns is higher. His armor is among the worst sets in the game and every fucking weapon of his comes with a hefty -40% affinity or worse. Not to mention that thing is just as broken as the Black Gravios and Apex Deviljho. That fight can be summed up as follows: WIND WIND WIND WIND CANT MOVE CANT MOVE CANT MOVE WINDLOCKED WINDLOCKED WINDLOCKED DEAD BY BLACK TORNADO BECAUSE YOU CANT MOVE BECAUSE OF WINDLOCK *respawn* WIND WIND WIND WIND CANT MOVE CANT MOVE, etc... Unless I come across another monster's weapon that requires Rusted Kushala parts, that thing can kiss my ass. As for the Apex Deviljho, well, that thing is just broken as fuck, and there's no way to deny it. For one, his breath reaching across a map that spans a whole mile is fucking stupid. That is overkill and completely unnecessary. Two, the small bump attacks that just knock you on your ass do almost half of your health, which is also fucking stupid. I'm wearing layers of armor with 20 dragon resistance and 720 defense. There's no reason getting pushed by a Deviljho's back leg should force me to have to run away and use two First Aid Med+'s/Mega Potions. Three, the hitbox for his pinning attack is a steaming river of pigshit. I really wish I had a video of the last time I got pinned by an Apex Deviljho. I was LITERALLY nowhere near him. He jumped at another player, pinned him, and somehow MY hunter is the one lying on his back flailing his arms at nothing. After about a decade of laying on the ground, pinned down by nothing, the Jho proceeds to use his breath that reaches to China and kills me instantly RIGHT as I stand up. Even though it was the first death of the battle, I abandoned the quest. It is really hard for me to stay motivated in a quest when dumb shit like that happens within 30 seconds of starting. When it's all said and done though, the Force and Drive Wystones are a terrible combination for the Apex Deviljho. For him and the Rajang, you REALLY need Brace, not Force. Brace is the only thing that will help you survive his breath if you don't have any dragon resistance. In 3U, I never cared about fainting because I knew when I did, it was usually my own fault. Not in this game, no sir-ee. In this game, you not only have to worry about memorizing monster's attack patterns, you constantly have to be on the lookout for ways the game is going to unfairly bend you over and stick it in your ass. I have 10 sets of armor that are Rarity of 10 and upwards of 720 defense, and my death count is still OBSCENELY high compared to Tri or 3U. GQs were a great idea on paper, but once they all get over 136, they're not fun anymore. They're a chore. That's partially because idiots that post the quests allow people without Wystones to join, but they're still a chore. I will NEVER do a 136+ Rajang GQ ever again. I got one-shotted by his beam with 40 thunder resistance AND almost 750 defense. There comes a time where we need to admit enough is enough. I understand high level quests need to be difficult, but come the fuck on. Getting one-shotted after PURPOSEFULLY pushing up my resistances and defenses to survive a specific monster? Nope. Go fuck yourselves with a rake, Capcom. That's bullshit and you know it. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - OrionTempest - 2015-04-30 Huh, I never found Rusted Kushala particularly difficult to the point of needing flashes. But then again, I use a raw/pierce LBG set, Pierce S seems to ignore his wind barrier (and I felt I was getting it to flinch a lot as well), and any competent group will knock it down with a mount and poison it. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Arrol - 2015-05-01 May DLC Teaser: -Cha-Cha, Kayamba and Guild Sweetheart makes a cameo in a new event quest. -Street Fighter (Palico), Metroid and Star Rook armors makes an appearance. -DMC Palico Gear is teased. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-05-01 Am I the only one getting sick of all this cameo DLC armor? Where is my G-Rank Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos? Where is the White Fatalis? Where is the G-Rank (online) Dah'ren Mohran? These cameo armors and weapons are neat and all, but where are the DLC packs that actually have substance to them? There are several Rathian and Dah'ren Mohran weapons that I want to upgrade but because we don't have the monsters yet, it's not possible. I'm sick of having to search high and low for people with the G-Rank Gold Rathian just to upgrade my weapons. Yeah... it was novel at first, but at this point, I'm also just sitting here slamming my foot against the ground wondering when I'll ever be able to finish certain Insect Glaives of mine--*coughGoldIan/SilverLosandallthreeFatalisbladescough*. The only other event armor/items I actually want are the Star Knight Armor and the Animal Crossing armor for my Palicos and I'll be content. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-05-01 I have been fortunate enough to find a few G-Rank Gold Rathian rooms. I've killed enough to make the full Golden Lune Z armor, the G-blade, and just recently the Luna Eostre (GoldIan charge blade). I use the G-Blade in place of the Cera Cymmetry. It has no negative affinity and about 175(ish) more attack than the Cymmetry. With my GS set, I can push the G-Blade's attack to almost 1900. It has some dragon on it if you have awaken, but it's not enough to care. The raw attack on that sword is incredible. I really want the silver Rathalos too because his armor isn't total crap like it was in 3U. And all of Dah'ren's weapons have incredible attack and lots of water, but you can't finish upgrading them until you either do the offline G-rank quest, or find someone with the online version. It's getting so incredibly frustrating. The Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, Dah'ren Mohran, and others actually have items that are in the logs of the game, so I'm pretty sure we'll get them eventually. I just hope they don't wait until July or August to release them. I just hope they don't wait until July or August to release them. Unfortunately that seems to be the way they do it now, it's annoying as hell. Like in 3U, where G Rank Alatreon didn't get released until like 7-8 months after release. I had maxed every single Bow in 3U except the Alatreon Bow long before G Rank Alatreon was released, it was dumb as hell. I miss when Event Quests were only unique quest combinations and special challenges. Now that they lock main content (as in, not special event gear that's typically garbage in comparison to endgame gear) behind DLC it's frustrating. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-05-05 I've come to one conclusion when playing MH4U: I just have to stop expecting things to get better. The flaws in this game tower above the flaws in Tri and 3U. No matter what the discussion in this thread is about, somehow it always comes back to lack of keyboard or voicechat mid-quest. I was doing a 140 Seregios/Black Diablos with a group yesterday. Because I recently started gunning, I removed whetstones from my pouch to make more room for gunner-related items. When I switched back to blademaster for this quest, I forgot to add them back in. About halfway through the quest, I was already down to green sharpness with nothing to remedy that. And guess what? Because fagcom decided to take away our ability to communicate as a team, I couldn't ask my teammates to spare any. Because of that, the quest took several minutes longer than it should have because every single attack was being deflected. I swear, this game is so irresponsible. The more I play it, the dumb crap I find. It's not just simple crap either. These issues are large enough to inhibit gameplay or stop it altogether. The monsters aren't what they used to be. They're busted, broken, poorly-written computer programs that don't do anything except spam the same bullshit attacks over and over. The DLC thing is a whole different ballgame. For one, I don't even understand the need to have a high rank Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos. They were perfect in 3U as just G-rank monsters. Secondly, the cameo stuff is neat, I'll give you that, but enough is enough. Since when do loads of cameo weapons and armor trump the quests that actually have substance? I did the Lagombi event quest yesterday just to see what the stats on the Chun-Li palico gear were. They're TERRIBLE. The F Mario/Luigi stuff that has been out since the game released is tiers better. I just don't get it. Here's a newsflash, Capcom, we want real event quests. We want quests that are actually going help us upgrade weapons. Stop with the cameo shit and give us quests that matter, like the Star Knight Armor, Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, and Dah'ren Mohran. Oh, and where the hell is the G-rank Savage Deviljho? Why is he only available in offline G-rank expeditions? This is getting to be a little too much for me to handle. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Doctor Omega - 2015-05-06 I know this is a long shot, but was anyone lucky enough to get through with the proxy thing to download any of the event or challenge quests? I've been looking for the Star Knight armor like crazy, but all I find are assholes that troll people with the quest. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Polantaris - 2015-05-07 Doctor Omega Wrote:For one, I don't even understand the need to have a high rank Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos. They were perfect in 3U as just G-rank monsters. You certainly have a lot of good complaints and I agree with most of them however...in regards to this one; It's because MH4 had Gold and Silver. A lot of people forget that MH4U/4G is just an expansion on MH4 because we didn't actually get MH4 in the States/Europe. MH4G has all of MH4's content AND G Rank / High Rank Village added on. They didn't remove any content that was in MH4, which means that Gold and Silver have both High and G Rank versions, because they were in MH4 and G Rank did not exist in MH4 (which is typical, the first entry in a generation never has G Rank). You can notice several trends that are common across their games because of the way they do that. For instance, the new monsters don't have subs until G Rank, because the subs didn't exist in the original game. Dalamandur feels like a final boss type fight because it was, in MH4. Ukanlos is an urgent after an urgent because he was added with MH4G and is a gateway into G Rank. Similar to how in MHFU, you beat Akantor, then have to do some random G Rank Urgent quest to actually get into G Rank (I forget what it was, maybe Plum Daimyo?). There's also two separate "ultimate challenge" village quests because both MH4 and MH4G had one at the end of their respective offline questlines. This is also why Savage, Raging Rajang, Elder Dragons, etc., are all available in High Rank when they are basically the hardest monsters. Because the game is actually an expansion of a game we didn't get, a lot of things seem weird but make sense if you had access to the original game. Doctor Omega Wrote:I know this is a long shot, but was anyone lucky enough to get through with the proxy thing to download any of the event or challenge quests? I'll have to look into it when I get a chance. I know you could do that in MHFU, but the 3DS might make it harder to do. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion - Arrol - 2015-05-07 So I finally got a Rajang Guild Quest now, level 58. I need SnS guild quests. |
