KMST 1.2.508 - Skill Changes and General Enhancements - Zerard - 2014-07-10 Oh God this thread... Why do I even play MapleStory. I thought about this patch long and hard to myself at work, and then some more when I got home. The damage increase from chains going from 100 to 80 percent isn't anything crippling... It sucks, but it's far from the worst case scenario. Same with slightly lessened Gungnir time. It's really unfortunate what's happening to Paladins, and I'm still unclear what's happening to Bowmasters. If the hurricane skill is as fast as Arrow Blaster, then it's okay... just silly. And what with the changes to sp and what with it stopping at 140... the possibility of imminent fifth job makes accepting these nerfs easier. And I also thought... that getting upset over these changes for a long period of time is a little immature, since this is just a game. Life moves on and all that. Hurricane is not as fast as Arrow Blaster though, but when you add all the boosts together BMs will be doing more dpm by a little. BMs for really funded people, like the Mercs in GMS that are double capping on RoI, any BM doing 35m+ in GMS, or any MEE BM in KMS will see a decent increase as BMs are now potentially the fastest class in the game with Hurricane - Splitter. The reverse of Blaster-Hurricane is because Blaster is good for damage but not practical for some bosses. Contrarily, Hurricane currently has less dpm than Blaster, but is more practical for some bosses. Nexon gave BMs the best of both worlds by making Hurricane the better damage skill as well as the most practical. We lack buffs so our damage is low compared to other classes, and now they change Ignis Roar, one of our few skills that gives us attack, to force us to combo skills in order to get the ATT boost. Not a very smart move for bosses, as most of our other skills are not as effective DPSwise in comparison to Ring of Ishtar, which is our main bossing skill, and it is MEANT to be spammed as it is a keydown skill; doesn't blend too well with the whole linking skills together. You bring a table in to support your argument/point, but 1) you don't own the table (doesn't matter) 2) you don't know how it works 3) you cannot vouch for its accuracy It's the same as you saying: "I think that black apples are the sweetest and best because Person X, a very knowledgeable person on apples, showed me this table which says that black apple has 100% sugar (relative), while red apples only have 60% and green apples have 20%." but you can't 1) tell me how the numbers were obtained, and 2) vouch that it's accurate yourself. You're asking to be smashed. This is scientific critique, if but maybe done in a rather harsh way. And we have been on the DPS tables for a long time. That's partly why JT made the tables. They are very accurate, if but to a narrow scope of 1v1 bossing against a strawman. It tells us everything we want, and takes into account most of the problematic variables that come up i.e. %Boss and %IgnorePDR. I could do my own DPS tables, except it would take several days just to get the basic sheet DPS out, but that would be sheet damage. That's as far as I go. Take it or leave it. It's not their damage that I'm worried about - I just find that mine feels very clunky and awkward compared to other classes. Also it'd be cool if all of their castable buffs had the same duration.. These new items look better, have better stats and seem easier to obtain. Looks like a win all round. I just wish they had done it all years ago. Many classes wish that and only a few ones have it. We don't have it so bad, though. One thing I find awkward about Marksmen is the Hookshot skill, since it's very inconsistent in appearing like it should be. I've also noticed that the handle part of the skill which is shown in extractions is never shown in-game, at least in GMS. Not that the chain or grapple appears half the time, anyway. And the fact that it has an animation cut off at the bottom to indicate ground in the form of dust, which is extra bad since it's used a lot in the air (oh and it's even coloured blue since the animators were too lazy to exclude the dust from hue change apparently). It's a lot more noticeable compared to some of our universal buffs (MW/EA) and our non-golden attacking skills (not Pierce/Snipe). Aggressive Resistance is also a bit too plain if you ask me, especially since it's only you pretty much 100% of the time while you're in battle. Compare it to Angelic Buster's or the Bishop's, for example. I would also prefer it if we got some visual indicators for our distance skills like Rangefinder and Last Man Standing. It just feels odd for them to just be boring passives in this age of MapleStory. If it were a newly released class, I'm certain they would have gotten animations. Alas, it was only a large-scale revamp. I do see some clunkiness in Arrow Illusion, Net Toss and Dragon's Breath in descending order. Arrow Illusion is too slow to cast and it's hard to call its contrasting colours pretty. Not to mention it's just a very strange concept to begin with. The two rings feel tacked-on. Net Toss just feels out of place and it's strange that they'd add such a skill after removing Arrow Eruption (though of course they may have removed it for other reasons). Dragon's Breath has the same problem as the old Wind Archer skill Wind Shot, only that it pierces so it won't ever look as awkward as Wind Shot did when it was fired at an angle. Still, the resulting single hit (instead of triple) is also weird as hell (more so considering it hit multiple times before they changed the animation, albeit four and not three). Perhaps a better flow between Hookshot and your attacks would also reduce the clunkiness. As of right now, we only have a small window of time to use an attack after you finish casting the skill and before you reach your destination. The fact that you can cast Hookshot again before you finish moving, overriding the previous move command and either resulting in slowly sliding across the floor or lagily descending from the air, is awkward. They should add a dynamic delay after the skill which ends after you reach your destination (and perhaps before you start sliding, or before your iframes end). Speaking of Hookshot, it seems like the Fighter's Combo Force became something similar.
