You've played one Private Server, you've played them all. Really, I don't have doubts you had a close grouping of friends over there, but friendly or not, I'd never choose a PS over GMS.

Shutting down private servers may not bring the pserver players back to GMS, but it will prevent other players from being tempted away from GMS.

Community is what you make of it. If you don't want to chat with ksing grindwhore assholes, don't. Not everyone in the official servers are like that.

Really, what you're upset about is the fact that a small community is always going to be better. You don't like the stupid children running around on the official servers, you can avoid them! The only way you would be completely unable to avoid them would be if you took your level seriously, and if your concern is community above all else, that shouldn't be an issue. Don't like the assholes at skeles? Why not go somewhere else? And all the friends you've made in the unofficial server? Talk to them, tell them to join the same world as you in an official server. Make a guild, rebuild your circle of friends in a world that you know won't be taken away.

Just imagine how awesome MS would be if we had all of the devs from Odin and Flowsion and koolk running the show. Biggrin


I used to play on a private server called FunMS (40x all). *If you have comments about it, then great, I know of every single problem it had and don't care to relisten to them* I went by the IGN of Jared (my first name).

I made a Dexless hermit and, when it was released, a night lord. I had a lot of fun with it. I had a group of good friends from there, and a few of the GMs were pretty good. The devs were so-so, but meh.

I was one of the best/strongest players in the game. I outdamaged everyone easily. There were no rebirths, so it was strictly your job.

The thing eventually went down after a lot of drama and a false letter "from Nexon". I don't have much contact with any of the people who used to play it, but I do miss a lot of their company.



I feel bad for the community being destroyed (and even if you keep IRC or forums or w/e, it just isn't the same).

I never looked into FlowsionMS that much, but I never heard bad things about it. Ever.


I quit private servers after realizing that I have more fun with the people in gMS than I do with those on private servers. I now have 0 files dealing with them (minus one auto-clicker that I kept for non-gMS related things Tongue ).


GL Flowsion, and hopefully everyone will come out of this unharmed. Sad

Well, this might end up clogging the Nexon servers if people start migrating to their respective area servers. This causes downtime, which causes less money.

If people just quit, then Nexon gains nothing, so this was all pointless.

The only thing I see is that Nexon is constantly "losing" players to private servers. Yes, they constantly have new players joining, but it means that overall less people are playing.


Did Vana go down too? I remember skimming over something that said the 4 pillars were down, which would be Odin, koolk, Flowsion, and Vana...

It's called making new servers with their money.

Anyways, as slight as the chances may be, they could gain money from the sueings.

I did say they would lose money in the long run, or at least gain nothing.

The lawsuits really have no backing behind them. After all, you don't see the makers of Portal suing the makers of "Portal: The Flash Version" for copyright infringment, because, if anything, it advertises the game.

Sorry if my train of thought is hard to follow, sometimes I think too much.

Except that an unofficial server does not entice a person to play on the official server, it gives the player an unlicensed way to play the very same game.

Vana is not down, but it's apparently being investigated. Vana is just a source so I wouldn't know what legal backing Nexon would have since I'm not well-versed in law.

Afro, I've played this game since windia was first created. Out of the years I've played, I've only met 3 random people on the game that I had buddied. Most my friends were from forums or from other friends.

I quit gms after everyone quit, my guild was dead, 3/50 friends came on anymore and only 1 of them talked to me. the other 2 were too busy grinding to give a pomegranate.

Private servers were a godsend, I realized I'd never be able to reach the high levels (being KSed daily by the same group of people, and guild).

FMS was different sure it was ungodly fast, but you still had to work, and nothing was really handed to you. A lot of servers would just give you everything you need and let you grind to 200, but FMS was different. It felt more like GMS than anything else.

I'm pretty much done with maple. I really don't wanna go back to GMS to see a dead guild, and see 0/50 friends on. It's depressing, everyone I've known from GMS has quit. And now I guess I end my maple career.

i may have never agreed with what they were up to really, but i did admire trunks' ability to create and run so many different projects. so good luck to you good sir, i wish you well and hope to you see you unscathed in this. (unlikely but possibly even offered a job? that'd be awesome, but a bit too much to ask lol)

i felt the same about koolk, i had my issues with what he did, but anyone who denies his contribution to the community at large is simply deluded. he is another i wish well and hope to see come out for the better rather than the alternative.
