Wow, thunder (the attack) looks so cool, and the fainting and being hit animations look really good. Graphically the previous games in the series can not even compare.

Hate that pikachu says it's name in battle. pineapple that pomegranate, i've never understood whats so special about that pokemon. I understand it's the mascot, but that doesn't mean they have to give it special treatment in the games (light ball, and now this)

I love it. "Pikachu" is really a name I have grown to love. And I must say I prefer pokemon saying their names, instead of making those weird cries. I agree that being able to pronounce a name should be a feature accessible to all pokemon. But if it turns out that only a fortunate few are able to do it, Pikachu should definitely be amongst them.
Why? Nintendo use him as a marketing tool. Alot of people, myself included, have loved that fat mouse since he was introduced in the first episode of the pokemon anime. I guess giving him and other 1st gen pokemon some special privileges, is a way of attracting the older playerbase.
To me, Pikachu is not just a pokemon, but the first and only fictional character I ever bonded with. Forget Ash and his two stalkers. Pikachu was a lone wolf, stubborn and cruel.
But they made him a dynamic character, changing and evolving(; not to be confused with pokemon evolution). By the time I stopped watching Pokemon, right before the 3rd gen, Pikachu had totally changed. He was kind, socially adept and friendly. Since then I have only seen the movies. Yet I think they have managed to keep some of the traits from the fat, funny and loveable creature he once was. But I digress, I'm sorry.

I just hope all pokémon end up being able to say their name. I mean wouldn't it be relatively simple to just take the sound-files they used in the anime in the respective countries and add it for all of them? Not sure if that's possible or not, but i'd love that over the cries we have right now.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Scaeva - 2013-08-19

I prefer the cries over the Pokémon saying their name. Pikachu will probably be the only one to end up saying it's name though if the trailers are anything to go by (Snorlax still made it's usual sound).

I hope we get a middle option for battle animations this generation, I've seen some animations I'd like to be shorter (like the Mega Evolution), but I don't want to turn all animations off.

What the pineapple, I never mentioned RNG in the first place.. Whatever, you do what you have to.

I miss hearing Outani Ikue's voice from Yellow. Happy to see it in a higher quality for X and Y. Smile

A lot of people including myself HATED that fat mouse. Yea pikachu WAS baws first season now that I think about it, but every other season I didn't really care for pikachu. It was something different seeing a pokemon who wasn't all "i luv u master and i do anything 4 u" garbage, same reason I liked Iris' dragonite in the newest season.

Me and my friends always thought if any pokemon should be the mascot it should be Eevee.

I like the ingame noises too, I think up to gen 3 I could recognize all pokemon by cry, and gen 4 only some. Now I can't do it anymore, but I still like hearing their battle cries. If snorlax changed to saying snooorrrrlaxxxxxxxxxxxx it wouldn't have its cry anymore, that "buuhh" noise ^o^

I agree that the cries are better, especially for bigger pokemon. For a pokemon like Pikachu it isn't that bad, but imagine Dialga saying it's name, or Entei, or Rayquaza. Tyranitar would just sound narmy.

Dunsparce or Stunfisk on the other hand would sound derpy as hell and would actually be pretty funny.
Literally the only pokemon I want to say it's own name though is Wobuffet. I fucking loved the Wobuffet from the anime.

The pikachu from the anime literally finished it's character development at the end of the Kanto arc, after that it's storylines just keep being repeated, it keeps being grossly overpowered in one battle and then grossly underpowered in the next, it loves Ash, it's friendly towards the other pokemon, blah blah. It's interactions with Togepi in the first season were sweet and charming. It's interactions with Piplup and others is just a rehash and got stale. The whole anime is just stale now and i'm surprised they haven't rebooted it. The writing is idiot tier by this point and is probably written by a robot who recycles past storylines.

Which isn't a problem when the intended audience is a wave of new children for each series of the anime rather than people from the start.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Pink Bean - 2013-08-19

*uses a Pikachu competitively*

*shuffles nervously away*

but i would rather it not say it's name if no other pokemon do.

Or there's the problem where so many Pokes don't actually say their name and kind of just make some kind of roaring sound (or none at all).

Well, yes, its just the same thing recycled with new characters and pokemon. He always loses to some gym leader and comes up with some winning strategy, loses to hes rival, loses th final tournament, etc. I stopped watched because Cilan (and Iris a bit) were just annoying and overly stupid with there repeat phrases. Also, D&P, pikachu faints from a pineappleing screech. It doesnt even do any damage...

So my friend recently picked up a poster for reserving both X and Y. I've reserved them earlier than when GameStop first gave out such posters. Showing them proof that I reserved the two should get me a poster too, right?
http://pokebeach.com/2013/08/actual-xy-music-updates-cries-for-old-pokemon
Wait there is a poster? I reseved both as soon as GS let you but got no such thing. Do we get it when we pick up the games or when we reserve?

My understanding is on reserve. I pre-ordered Pokemon Y 2-3 weeks ago, and was asked if I wanted a poster, but declined. After hearing about pre-order bonuses I looked up Gamestop's, and it seems to be the poster.

Slightly off topic, but for those in the US, shiny legendaries from the 4th gen are available at Gamestop (1 at a time) from yesterday until near X/Y release. I think each is available for 2 weeks or so. I got 3 Dialgas for my games today.

Yep, there's a poster. I went and reserved my X and Y yesterday and got this poster (double sided). For reserving both, and when I go to get them on release, I'll get a special poster.

Just saw this couple of days ago while playing my nuzlocke'd black 2.
There's a scientist that's saying he's working on a way to "speak with pokemon, but it's not working."
Gen 6 has pokemon-amie.

Coincidence? o-o

You're not actually talking to Pokemon in Pokemon-amie, I don't think. It's more like super fancy tamagotchi?
