#Gamergate - Sega - 2014-08-22 HAvn't looked too much into this yet, but the original video made me realize just how many gaming threads that blow up are "sexist" articles. #Gamergate - ChickenKiev - 2014-08-22 I felt I should put this up, as many people still believe that this is one of the five guys involved with Zoe Quinn (though I don't see him mentioned very much, if at all):
#Gamergate - Sega - 2014-08-22 Also, this whole thing makes me straight up call bullpomegranate on the whole "we need more indie devs, indie devs have no power in the industry" that happens day in and day out by almost everyone. These pomegranatestorms could happen at any time, and they are all because indie devs are trying to get their games out there to the public. I'm sure these things happen for all these pomegranatety games that don't have a place in the market. Anyone can make a pomegranate game, and bribe and pineapple their way to having their game well known. #Gamergate - Polantaris - 2014-08-22 Sega Wrote:Also, this whole thing makes me straight up call bullpomegranate on the whole "we need more indie devs, indie devs have no power in the industry" that happens day in and day out by almost everyone. I'm sure these things happen for all these pomegranatety games that don't have a place in the market. Anyone can make a pomegranate game, and bribe and pineapple their way to having their game well known. It's not like there's not plenty of pomegranatety games when an indie developer isn't involved. There's plenty of pomegranatety developers in all sides of the spectrum. The difference is that a lot of the recent genre changing/bending/forming games have come from indie developers, while a lot of the "AAA developers" only rehash the same junk (that does NOT mean that there's not some that don't). If Indie Developers weren't such a possibility now, the only difference would be that Zoe Quinn would be pineappleing her way up some business, and it wouldn't be big news unless she hit the top. #Gamergate - PennyPacker - 2014-08-22 So, apparently Phil Fish is pretending he got hacked. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bvnhvz5IIAAAVc5.png:large http://i.imgur.com/E3o94Se.jpg #Gamergate - Niernen - 2014-08-22 PennyPacker Wrote:So, apparently Phil Fish is pretending he got hacked. When will these idiots realize you don't capitalize /v/? And lol at "head mod of /V/ and leader of 4chan.org and Anonymous." Its public info, and well known, on who owns 4chan (and who would spell out 4chan.org over 4chan?), so.... #Gamergate - MuscleWizard - 2014-08-22 This is becoming even more and more hilarious. I'm also pretty sure at this point moot could sue the pomegranate out of phil for faking the hacking and pretending to be him. Libel's a peach lol. #Gamergate - Dark Link - 2014-08-22 MuscleWizard Wrote:This is becoming even more and more hilarious. Of course Reddit would defend it. #Gamergate - xBTAx - 2014-08-22 I don't want to dignify most of this discussion with a response, especially as I'd like to ignore that some of you are even involved with it, but I feel like I have to say this much: if you think games journalists and developers aren't close, you're wrong. It obviously doesn't mean sex most of the time, but devs (not even just indie devs) and journalists are often very close. Just look at Giant Bomb's E3 or GDC panels. Just look at Twitter. And yet the industry continues. I'm not saying any of this is necessarily a good or bad thing, but if this is somehow shocking to you, if this is the eye opener, that's sorta laughably naive. And I'd add that if you think friendship or association is enough to taint a journalist, I question why you trust their opinion to begin with, because clearly you don't think they have any integrity at all. Otherwise, I agree with this post for the most part, so I'll let that speak for me rather than repeating most of it if you're going to disagree with it anyway. I'll clarify that I'm not sure I feel ok with commenting on her ex as it does, since I do think he's someone who was hurt and the appropriation of his pain by an internet mob isn't fair to him either. I'm still not sure how to feel about the line between someone's personal relationship details and needing to share them to call someone out as an abuser, but I guess it's clear that the mob doesn't actually care about that either. People would rather act like her sleeping with someone who never reviewed her (free, already somewhat famous) game or mentioned it in an irregular way for the sake of coverage is more realistic than her just sleeping with someone she knew for the same reasons anyone else would; going by what the ex says alone it's clear that there was an emotional component to their relationship. Those people would like to think that this delusion justifies making the rest of it (and then anything else they perceive as a slight) a list of insults rather than things they feel are worth thinking about. The ex has said what he wanted from this was her friends to acknowledge her behavior, so anytime one of the droves of Twitter harassers spouts nonsense in their backwards crusade against her and her friends they're only making it worse. ...also it's hilarious how much I'm seeing the assumption of "/V/ = not really hacked", etc. instead of, you know, that it was just done by someone that wasn't 4chan that wants to pin it on them (or wants 4chan to think it looks fake). No one posts their pineappleing financial information for the sake of getting "attention". If Phil Fish wants attention all he has to do is tweet about gamers. Same for Zoe at this point, though to be frank all anyone has to tweet is Zoe's own name to get name searchers to bother them on Twitter if they're really so desperate for attention. You can bend over backwards repeatedly to convince yourself that they totally did this to themselves or just deal with the far more logical situation that is "these people I don't like had a bad thing done to them by other people that don't like them" (which doesn't have to change the fact that you don't like them). And that's about all I feel comfortable saying on this. #Gamergate - Curtiss - 2014-08-23 http://www.dailydot.com/geek/4chan-hacks-phil-fish-over-his-defense-of-zoe-quinn/ So it's been confirmed that Phil Fish's account was 'compromised', except pretty much anyone with half a brain to spare can figure out that 1) Bypassing 2-step authentication requires the hacker to have both password and physical phone access or 2) Failing to not know what this is, they can helpfully Google what it is and piece the clues together. Edit: As per Locked's post below, Cloudflare isn't actually storage. The previous points still stand though, and while I can't find the info now Adam Sessler has been said to have 'joked' about a 4chan hack before this went live. Not to you know, mention that the attack doesn't fit with 4chan's M.O, 'V' should not be capitalized and stuff. Now where have we seen poorly made dox attempts within this debacle before? Also, please note how many articles of Phil Fish being hacked have surfaced while there are still virtually zero articles to be found about the 'other side' of the Zoe Quinn scandal: Phil Fish being hacked: 4chan is evil, spread the word! Zoe Quinn being scandalized: Wow, would you look at all that misogyny! For a good laugh, take a look at Depression Quest's rating on Metacritic and compare the glowing press coverage on the website itself. I know it made me laugh at least. #Gamergate - ChickenKiev - 2014-08-23 Absolutely glorious: ![]() I posted earlier in this thread the account of the woman in charge of a nonprofit women's development team taking ideas for video games from women and giving most of the proceeds to charity (the rest would go to the content creator - whichever woman suggested the idea). The Fine Young Capitalists' received a question from Zoe Quinn regarding the amount of money given to the winner of the contest - Zoe thought it was too low, and the development team told her that they thought it was fair for just suggesting an idea. So Zoe took after them like a greyhound chases a rabbit and decided to make their lives hell for this initiative. She sent her followers after them and had the leader doxxed. She panned them to every gaming site, and when TFYC tried to present their case, the gaming press turned up their collective nose at them. Fast forward to the past few days - TFYC have decided to try and reboot the initiative, this time asking for donations so the game can become a reality. 4chan has decided do a decent thing (which is a barometer of how morally and ethically bankrupt Zoe is) by supporting this group and donating to them. Now Zoe's allies are throwing tantrums that TFYC are letting them donate. You can donate to their cause here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-fine-young-capitalists--2 #Gamergate - Locked - 2014-08-23 RE: Phil Fish and the whole CloudFlare debacle. It's entirely false. CloudFlare isn't a web host. It doesn't allow you to change the content of your website. In reality, it's a Content Delivery Network (a.k.a. CDN). The purpose of a CDN is to deliver images, cache your website, etc. You don't have to hack into CloudFlare in order to hack the website. You don't have to hack into CloudFlare to upload things. CloudFlare is just a layer around the website, so to speak. On a final note, CloudFlare doesn't have two factor authorisation by default either. Granted, it is touted to improve your website's security. I'm not entirely convinced Fish has doxxed himself, despite my dislike for the guy. No one would be this stupid. However, I am convinced that neither /v/ or 4chan doxxed him. They wouldn't do it in this manner or in this stupid format. #Gamergate - xBTAx - 2014-08-23 ChickenKiev Wrote:Absolutely glorious: Was wondering when this would show up. She made like 5 tweets total about it and then did nothing else. That's all. A few, non-attacking tweets. Dude's just blaming her for all the people who saw her question that stuff and then agreed that it wasn't a good idea. And this is why you should never enter these threads, because you're entirely too uneducated to give a worthwhile opinion. Everything in this paragraph is false, and has been clarified and over explained over a dozen times, in multiple places. If you aren't smart enough to actually take a 2 minute google search to see how asinine you look right now, more entertainment for the rest of the people here. Phil fish/Zoe quinn are terrible people who's careers deserve to be outright stripped from them. #Gamergate - Bomber - 2014-08-23 None of what was written in this thread or anywhere else changes the fact she fucked 5 guys for gaming reviews, right? I mean, no matter how hard you guys try to forget the name of the thread or try to justify it, she fucked 5 guys for gaming reviews, right? #Gamergate - ChickenKiev - 2014-08-23 xBTAx Wrote:Was wondering when this would show up. Their rule said, "Anyone who is a woman can compete." They never excluded *transsexuals*. That was Zoe Quinn, jumping the gun and trying to sink their game jam to boost hers up. As KhainiWest said, there are many accounts of what actually happened to TFYC at the hands of Zoe, more particularly the account made by the leader of the group. There was an aggressive smear campaign to discredit them. What I and many others think is that Zoe was trying to kill off this one after she helped destroy Matti Leshem's game jam so she could open her own game jam (which has a link directly to her personal PayPal account). Here's the video of someone who interviewed them and asked them what happened with Zoe Quinn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1d6Q3VpqXyk #Gamergate - KhainiWest - 2014-08-23 What pisses me off most about BTA's statement is I literally can quote his ignorance from like 3 news sites that essentially have been misinforming the public about what really happened. 1) This was a contest where the only reason for participation was to present an idea. These are people who are aspiring, who don't have the power to code, the power to create (much like zoe quinn ironically). The winner would get their idea published to their image, get 8% of the royalties, and the rest to charity. 2) Zoe quinn protested stating that "It should be up to the female game developer to decide this!", as in, where the money goes (up to her to donate or not). The problem is, you're essentially doing the work for the winner, they literally present a good idea and bam, chance for dream coming true. The cost to do this doesn't disappear because they are doing a favor, it does however, mitigate a lot of the costs if they write off the profit/tools/software as a non-profit claim. I mean seriously, to come up with something as asinine as "THATS OPPRESSIVE", should piss off feminists everywhere. You had a company going through all the development hoops, putting it towards a good cause, and you still get a slight dip in the pot, just for presenting an idea. The fact it was smeared (via twitter, yes it was very smeared) by a so called "feminist", which in reality it's just a facade for a terrorist, to bully someones good cause. That is disgusting, and you are disgusting to even try to defend this trailer trash. 3) Lastly, the whole Transexual* thing is absolutely a ridiculous, uneducated criticism. Zoe had nothing to fall back on so she brought it up, just showing how "Pro LBGT" she is, stating the rules weren't fair. Yet the definition they used is the acceptable definition by the LGBT standard. They didn't make this rule/definition up, they applied it. It just shows how much value zoe quinn holds to these principles which she uses as a shield in order to bully others. Even now the mainstream media is writing her off as an innocent angel who's getting bullied for relationship problems. No, she's getting pineappleing blown out for her ridiculous hypocrisy, for her poor character and obvious corruption based on her f-ucking cooter. "Oh but this is just part of the system, you guys don't care@!", what a crock of sh-it, you point out and shun obvious corruption not say "It's just in all a days work!". Such defeatist attitude is pitiful and exactly what our future generation doesn't need. #Gamergate - Curtiss - 2014-08-23 Furthermore, while the guy was rightfully angry because she took down his contest he has been asking people to NOT focus on her and focus on making games. That's hardly the attitude of someone vengeful and the majority of his comments even point out how people don't seem to be taking his project seriously at all, which pisses me off because it's awful whether his contest is lacking publicity because of Zoe or because these so-called feminists don't care about making fun video games or having fun so much as whining about everything underneath the sun. I regret to say that this is entirely possible when your biggest whiteknights involve people from Tumblr, most of which are too stupid to realize that they're supporting a cheater, a self-confessed 'rapist' (Zoe's own words since she says cheating on your partner equals rape), a cheater who's again, more concerned that her game will be stopped than for another woman's sexual health after banging her husband. That's not counting in 'quietly' launching Depression Quest while linking an article to Robin Williams's suicide and wangsting about the difficult decision on Tumblr and many, many other transgressions that you don't even need to dig deeply into to be more educated about this. http://np.reddit.com/user/SillySladar - The facts are all there http://i.imgur.com/hP7Ncsw.jpg - A look at Zoe's possible motives before Game Jam was crashed http://gabrielaknight.wordpress.com/ - Female video game developer, more afraid of being shut off by Zoe and her cronies than all the threats she might get. Way to go Zoe, I am sure this is what feminism is like! It's true that there's room for doubt as not all of the proof is 100% solid but guess what, there's a thing called proof of character and how people operate, and when you have 4chan jumping in glee to create a new character for TFNC instead of doing this so-called hacking they never did while the other side's still screeching about MUH PRIVACY! and the feminists are acting like it's an act of sacrilege to donate to TFNC because EWW NECKBEARDS! that's not the tables being turned so much as people being revealed for who they really are. But from reading through everything I come across as well as doing some of my own research on the matter... She just can't be trusted, as I can just see her as a selfish hypocrite. There are so many sides to this, and from the looks of it she's just been trying to spin the blame/criticisms and play the innocent/victim/blame/etc cards, while this Phil Fish guy is doing the same while acting like he's having a temper tantrum just cause people don't agree or support him. The more they do with these random stunts and behavior, the deeper they're digging themselves. I don't trust her releasing her game called 'Depression Quest' (if you can even call it a game, when it could well be a book) on the day of Robin William's death to actually help people. Whatever way you look at it, it's downright respectful to the people that do care about Robin. Couldn't it have waited until later when people aren't still shocked or mourning over him and give some breathing space or consideration? So, it's pretty clear to me that she's just trying to gain publicity in whatever way she can. It's similar to what PeTA does to gain publicity, doesn't matter if it's good or bad - pulling stunts and trying to leech off big news. In the case for this lady, she started something big that spiraled out of her control. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but this is what her arrogance can do. They think they can fool the people to gain support, cause they thought up of a plan that couldn't possibly fail, with those victim/feminism/etc cards as backup... But when it actually backfires and runs out of cards, she's going through drastic measures in trying to clear herself as innocent. So it seems like she's just trying to pull off whatever stunt she can to protect herself while trying put the blame/topic on something else. |
