Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - byakugan - 2012-09-16 Chicocl Wrote:Well, they are bringing MH3U to Wii U because Nintendo is using their own servers for the online (And shutting MHtri ones at the same time sadly....). So I guess that what you are saying is possible, maybe Nintendo doesn't really need it at the moment (maybe because wii U is the only next generation console in the near future or because they are saving big announcements for when the other consoles are released or rival companies's games are announced) or because Megaman is really expensive to make, It'd be as expensive as making an HD zelda, even more, and let's face it Megaman's image has been damage over the years by a lot and Legends 2 was only released on Ps One and that was 12 years ago. Now, If they plan to do a reboot of the original Megaman (the Good 2D one), I'd totally buy it and I think Capcom would agree on that. The problem with the Wii U is that it is not out yet and people is already pessimist about it by beliefs like"There will be no 3rd party good games" and "it will be totally overshadowed once the PS4 and 720 come out" and "The Wii is a console for kids and casual gaming, nothing more". There are some examples in this thread. Like someone else said here before, its unlikely Nintendo can repeat the same success they had with the Wii just betting on the same formula. If Nintendo wants The Wii U to lasts as long as the next new generation of consoles they need more than a new Zelda and Metroid (because these NSMB games are already boring) or innovative gameplay. The exact thing they need is 3rd party commitment to their console, be it with exclusive games or just sharing their (good)tittles with them. Maybe they can't win that over by just proving their console to be as capable as the others because of all the pessimism, and thats where reanimating old franchises proven to be a success, like they just did with Bayonetta, can be their best choice. Even if the games suck, players will want to play them.Imagine an new exclusive Chrono Trigger for the Wii U, or Killer instinct or... IDK you put the name, I just want Megaman. As for a 2D Megaman remake, it already exists. Its called Megaman 9/10. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Chicocl - 2012-09-16 I know about megaman 9 and 10, and I'm talking about a good graphics reboot not a 90's game for a new console. Nintendo will repeat and surpass their success with the Wii, It's pretty simple, for example my little cousin don't even use internet (he is 7) and he is already telling his dad that he wants Wii U because he wants NSMB U and because he saw it for like 30 secs in CNN Latin America (Here in Latin america Nintendo Wii U commercials doesn't exist, so there is no ad talking about wii U, not even in stores). Capcom will stick with nintendo for a long time because thanks to Nintendo using their servers for online and publishing the game, the profit for Capcom is insane. Ubisoft is good with nintendo right now. The shooters will be on Wii U because if they want money they'll launch the tittle in as many consoles as they can (And we know how generic they are). So, about thirds not publishing on wii U is very stupid, specially now that nintendo is publishing Bayonetta. In general there will be those 3rd party tittles on the Wii U, Nintendo will still have those IP we like and for first time in my life I see that Nintendo is changing politics (Publishing Bayonetta for example that 5 years ago that was unthinkable). About the megaman Legends game: The probability of it being a Success is pretty low, the fan base for that game is very short (not saying Megaman's fanbase but Legends's one) specially when the last game out of that branch was for PSone and 12 years ago, little kids right now only know about the 2D megaman and the network/starforce Series. Like I said before a Megaman Legends game would need as much money as a Monster Hunter for example, and I bet that the MH game would sell a lot more that the megaman legends one. For Capcom it's not really profitable neither for Nintendo (well, at least not right now for nintendo) compared to other games like Resident Evil or MH. And Nintendo can repeat the formula and still have success, just look at mario games, they haven't changed a lot in years, and they still attract young public and old gamers.... Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - byakugan - 2012-09-16 The Wii U will sell. It already sold out all its preorders in a lot of places, but whats the life expectancy for consoles generally? 6 years?. If things go as predicted the Wii U might not even last 2 years after the PS4 and 720 are released. It doesn't matter how revolutionary the Wii U is if there are no good games for it nor can Nintendo alone guarantee them. I didnt say there are no 3rd party publishing for the Wii U, I'm saying Nintendo needs more of them joining and staying and making some exclusives that give a reason for players to pick this console over the others. Don't get me wrong, I want the Wii U to success because I like Nintendo and believe it offers more to the gaming industry than other companies which are mostly about violence. As for a Legends game. It's true its player base is small specifically for that game. But after the whole incident with Legends 3 the whole megaman fanbase which is big would play that game. And just what in heaven makes you believe it will be as expensive as MH or RE? you think Capcom would (or to any extent should) make a megaman game with the level of graphics of those other 2? or is it you think thats what a Megaman game would need to success?. If so then you're as wrong as all those that thing that graphics = good game and I'm sad for you. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Chicocl - 2012-09-16 Graphics isn't everything, the problem is that because it's a little fanbase they'd need to put a lot of effort to make it worth playing even if the player isn't very related to megaman's world. And sadly as you said most people think that graphics = good game (I'm not one but you must always take this in consideration because that's the way the market is heading long time by now). And I don't think nintendo Wii U will be that death when PS4/xbox 720 comes out, mostly because the industry can't bet in more graphics, the game already need profits a la Hollywood to survive, more costs in graphics would kill it. Its a new Capcom game being developed for the PS3. I seriously doubt Capcom invested a budget of the level of RE or MH into this, and its pretty much the kind of graphics/artwork a Legends game would look perfect with. I agree about the small fanbase for the Legends franchise, thats why I consider it'd be better to do a remake of the series instead of jumping straight to Legends 3. With its story plus a refined gameplay and graphics It can become an excellent game. But anyway enough with Legends 3. I will wait to get a Wii U but thats because where I live they will try to sell it at 1000$ or more at release. People are losing their pomegranate over the Bayo 2 announcement, and I haven't even seen a single gameplay video. Honestly my only issue with it is that it's a Wii U Exclusive, especially when the previous game was on both PS3 and XB360. Not that I intended to get it anyway, the first one was more annoying than I would have liked, however I can understand the annoyance. If you liked the series, having to get a new console to get a sequel can be annoying. It's like the people who bought a PS3 expecting MH3 to be on it, then it ended up on the Wii and they raged all night long because "the Wii is for kiddies." Of course, that's more of their own fault than anything else, but it's not the point. They're blatantly reusing the assets they actually made for legends 3 in the game. And Legends 3 isn't going to happen. That was the starting point of the argument, maybe Nintendo could step in and make it happen like with Bayo. I know about the 3DS version of ExTroopers but it most likely is a port from the PS3 with watered down graphics. Anyway better having no hopes that bringing them up and be disappointed. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Index - 2012-09-17 I remember waking up early to wait in line (on a chilly winter morning) at the local Circuit City to get a Wii. Never again, Nintendo. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Coogi - 2012-09-18 Sarah Wrote:Couldn't care less. Every Nintendo console since the SNES has had less than 10 games that appeal to me through duration of their lives, so it's no longer worth my time... until they announce Paper Mario U. I think we'll get quite a few JRPGs so it may be worth it. Seeing how Nintendo treated Xenoblade and The Last Story I have absolutely no hope that that's true. But if that day comes and I start seeing some really solid games becoming Wii U exclusives then I would certainly invest. I agree with Sarah on this one. Nintendo took zero initiative to localize Xenoblade, it took a campaign to even get them to look at the idea. They weren't even the ones who ended up localizing The Last Story stateside. Xseed had to do it. I mean, how many JRPGs actually got released in the US on the Wii? Maybe eight? And how many of them were actually worth playing? That's not "quite a few". If I see Paper Mario, or Fire Emblem, or maybe some Pokemon Stadium type game, I'll consider it. But they haven't actually announced any of those, so for now, no. Well the developers of Xenoblade did announce they were working on a game for the Wii U. Though I'm not sure what it is. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Aircalibur - 2012-09-18 I still don't have much faith in it being localized. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Sarah - 2012-09-19 Aircalibur421 Wrote:I still don't have much faith in it being localized. That's a fairly ridiculous thing to say about a game that doesn't even exist yet, and not even close to what I was saying. We've seen where Nintendo currently stands on jRPGs in the West, and I have a hard time blaming them for that because they aren't the big blockbusters that Nintendo really wants. It doesn't mean they'll keep that position forever; I feel like their attempt to embrace third parties may serve the jRPG crowd well, even. But currently there's no reason to get ones hopes up for anything because nothing has even been announced and the past has been bleak for the Nintendo console jRPG line-up. Once we start seeing some real jRPGs announced for the Wii U, even if they're in Japan, I'll start paying attention. I won't be holding my breath, but I'll certainly hope Nintendo doesn't screw us over. But for now, all we've got is a pretty bad precedent. Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Aircalibur - 2012-09-19 Fair enough. I just don't see Nintendo changing their platform at this point. They seem to be pretty comfortable in what they do. |
