A response to the hackings. - Phelusia - 2011-10-20 I'm seeing that most of the compensation is on characters that were still intact, has anyone gotten a compensation on a character that was deleted? I can't log on at the moment and I'm reluctant to accept the package since I want to still fight for re-making my characters, well that and the fact that I don't want it. I don't want them going all "Well you accepted the compensation so you must be happy!" .... A response to the hackings. - KhainiWest - 2011-10-20 Blades4hire Wrote:I know they have db logs. You can't speak for nexon, you can stop trying. The value of the equipment is different in their eyes because they don't understand their game. Duping is very much already part of the game, so that point is mute. The market wouldn't budge at this point. FFS how much is your account personally worth? 30b? That's worthless now, I could buy your entire account under $300, you just don't understand how shitty the game really is. You speak selfishly because you have limited perspective. Would also like to point out, just because a possibility exists doesn't mean it should be ignored, or would you like to argue the option to email change, which took years, for nexon to even offer. That would imply this game has an economy at all, at this point. Trading rocks and fire and crude huts made of mud would be an improvement over what this game currently has. Nothing they do besides a complete server wipe could fix it, at this point, so why not just try to make people happy? People that supply their paychecks? You know? If Nexon had been reversing transactions within 3 days after one got hacked ever since 2006, it would be a fine system. if they started doing that in the future, it would be a fine system. doing it now for accounts that were already hacked would cause chaos. If there was a method to somehow get back all of the hacked items without affecting the other players in any way, id be all for it. You say the market wouldnt budge. Do you have any idea how many items were lost to hacking? Duping all these items even once would crash the market worse than the dupe that crashed it in the first place. Remember that? White scrolls 400->30m Perfect Items 15b->4b Your Mask Priceless->Price Not even the economy, think about Nexon's bottom line. Who would buy cubes when there are thousands of unique 15% items out there? Just buy mesos and buy them. Also, just putting this out there: I know how it feels to be hacked. Ive been in the situation before (havent lost nearly as much as you guys have, but i understand the feeling) A response to the hackings. - LegendGospel - 2011-10-20 ![]()

You obviously don't understand the feeling or you wouldn't be making excuses for a company that couldn't get any fucks less about you. I feel like you won't get it no matter what we say so I'm gonna let you sit here and talk yourself in circles about how helping the players who pay the most money would hurt the game. Im speaking practically. Like you said, nexon doesnt give two f'ucks about you. If 1% of their population gets hacked, as far as they're concerned, new players will make up for that money loss. Players are expendable. If one leaves, 10 new players join. A response to the hackings. - steveg89 - 2011-10-20 If it were just 1% I wouldn't be sitting here bitching. The fact is a lot more than that were hacked, and most of us have spent significant amounts on this game. I think we deserve a hell of a lot more than what we got. They're essentially taking their biggest spenders, bending them over, and raping their dignity. You might accept that but I don't. If your argument is how the economy is then it does matter what the economy is now. You're exaggerating the differences, this equipment, not white scrolls, not chaos scrolls, just straight up duplicating equipment, which most players can do ANYWAY. The reason the impact would be weak is because they won't suddenly go on the market, as the system will try to be abused, it will also bring back the characters original standing. Doing all of this would have limited repercussions, and simply researching which character currently has the items, or rather the last day access was to the account, can already predetermine your fraudulent claim. Two scenarios could happen: Player gets hacked, moved to mule Player gets hacked, given to main of infiltrator If moved to a mule it's quite easy to figure it out, if the mule is an old one, they can figure out what IP actually is dominant on it, cross referencing with yours. If they were to change the IP, the new IP would show up on the new account anyway. Either way cross referencing would yield results. Actually, with the beyond broken economy, HORRIBLE scroll/recipe drop rate and the goddamn exp/drop rate reduction from lower level monsters, I don't see how new players can even survive on this game anymore without spending (lots of) NX. And no newbie wants to spend money on a broken F2P game they just started playing. A response to the hackings. - happylight - 2011-10-20 Flonne Wrote:..... You cannot tell intent from logs. Yes, lets let possible future exploitation stop nexon from helping real victims! This excuse is getting old and makes no sense. Try again. Except for the whole IP address differences, and different account registration information. I for example have a static IP address. It's very easy to tell that the person who logged into my account on an IP I've never used before and put a leaf up for sale then logged into another account to retrieve it was not me. It's also easy to see how many accounts that IP has been on and how suspicious it is. It's no different from here on the forum where we see someone with a known static IP suddenly log in from a new IP address and start doing horribly out of character things. It's not undetectable. It's not inprovable. It doesn't even take much effort to try to research and verify. If they really wanted to they could even follow the trail of item all the way to where it ultimately went and determine if it still existed before creating a new one, or move the already existing one back where it was originally. Database operations of that sort are idiotically simple. Much like this entire argument. At least here in my country and with my ISP you need to pay a fee (not sure if its a one time thing) to get a static IP. Your arguments have been proven false by a literal pomegranate ton of cases. You act as if this is impossible to implement when numerous other companies have the systems already in place to deal with it. Fraud is a little more in your face than hacking. Hackers aren't making new mules each time they hack someone. They aren't changing IPs every time they steal an account. The patterns are very different for fraud and for legit hackings. edit: static IP's are fairly common. Even if your ip isn't static, you generally get one of a small group of IPs each time you connect. A response to the hackings. - LegendGospel - 2011-10-20 Funny thing is, I would have settled with 200k Maple Points (which takes even less effort from them) to pimp my Dual Blade and play a job anew, rather than getting nothing that I can use in my LUKless Bishop. Even the cape and earrings worthless without potential + cubing (which I'm NOT doing), my old 10 magic att PuAC was infinitely better, and my current Maple Earrings (untradeable, which the hacker didn't take away) are superior to the ones given to me in this "compensation". Can't even sell the Reverse/Timeless items for mesos as they'll massively deflate after this, considering how many people got hacked. I would log a ticket to request a VIP weapon instead, but it would take 2 more years to get a reply.

I think you're grasping for straws a bit, don't you? Do you realize how immeasurably small of a chance that is without you sharing your info with them (in which case you shouldn't be compensated). |
