Big patches will always hit in time for the holidays. Smaller patches to fill the gap in between. You may want to check your math there, bub. While Jump coming out in a month would indeed match the "six month rule", though barely since the first Jump patch came the last day of March, but using that assumption of a constant localization rate would mean that Legend, a patch that first hit the official KMS servers in July, couldn't arrive in GMS any earlier than January of next year. Personally, I don't see any way GMS will be getting Legend within this year. Yes, the patch started in July, but KMS just got Demon Slayers three weeks ago. Someone may prove me wrong here, but I'm pretty sure that GMS getting content four months after KMS got it would be unprecedented. The real question is what they're going to pad in the rest of the year. Jump is a significant patch, it's true, but it basically comes down to three parts: skill revamps, Monster Park, and PQ revamp. They'll likely stick it in one big patch and unlock the next part every week or two (a la Chaos). Some people have pretended that the PQ revamp presents an issue with this method though it does not; simply deactivate PQs until the update. Having no PQs for two to four weeks might be theoretically very upsetting, but it won't be nearly as big a deal was having to wait for Monster Park after Jump starts. Keep in mind that Jump also means the removal of Party Play zones, so if it's one big patch, high levels will be SOL until Monster Park comes out. Still, with one to two weeks between unlocks, that still only comes out to a month's worth of content, making for a rather depressing end up the year. Compare to last year: - At the same time last year, we were one week into VPQ right now, so everyone was rather giddy (making me laugh heartily at those under the impression that the start of school means no big patches). - The end of September brought Hob PQ and Ninja Castle. - October was dull except for the cool effect rings that no longer give effects. - November sucked. - December = Big Bang. Based on that, I'd put the Jump patch in either December or late September. I will add that I expect (hope) October to bring the return of Witch Belts since GMS seems keen on subverting any benefits brought on by the Crafting system. Which is why I think we may see Cannons as early ast very late Novemeber and Mercedes in the mid of December with Christmas and Demon Slayer in January. Legend is supposed to be a "big main patch" (for summer/winter breaks) like Chaos and BB. Don't even need "Real content". NexonNA has done "Filler Content" in the past and it's definitely not out of the question. There's a good chunk of events KMS had that NexonNA hasn't brought over to GMS yet. Upcoming content - Atuan - 2011-08-24 Big Bang hit in July for KMS, too. Big patches will always hit in time for the holiday, and it'll probably wrap up in January just like the Big Bang did. There is absolutely no way Nexon is going to postpone the next big content update for 3 months off their natural schedule. They aren't going to pass up that Christmas cash to be lazy and pad in garbage that attracts no one. Big bang was big content. The 2 new updates are either class revamps only or new classes only, something they've been doing for YEARS and this is nowhere near the quantity of work that BB and chaos was, because they were revamps AND new classes(BB)/new areas(chaos). Monster park and PQ revamps is the only other thing in jump, and those aren't nearly as much work as future ereve or edelstein is. (going by map/image quantities) What is silly though is waiting for the holidays when their biggest cash cow that will come from korea comes in legend to try and maximize profit. Getting content out sooner = maximizing profit because the sooner legend tier comes out the sooner people will stop withholding their cubes. And if they make some new GMS thing to have people spend money on it (perma pet att equips, etc) then it's fine either way. The dates you've provided are even more outlandish because Cannoneers in November would mean we'd be getting them three months after KMS. That's half the typical turnaround. Not only that, but you're actually spreading out the Legend update more than KMS did, which is also unprecedented. KMS got the first Chaos patch 12/16 and the Ice Knight patch 1/30. Similarly, GMS got the first Chaos patch 6/29 and the Ice Knight patch 7/27. You're now suggesting that Legend, which was just a month's worth of patches, become three months of patches. As for content from other versions... Dark Link Wrote:Don't even need "Real content". NexonNA has done "Filler Content" in the past and it's definitely not out of the question. Because I've honestly been trying to think of what they could swipe from another version, and turned up nothing. Seems to me like Crosshunter might be our "pulled from another version" content this year. Atuan Wrote:Big Bang hit in July for KMS, too. Big patches will always hit in time for the holiday, and it'll probably wrap up in January just like the Big Bang did.True enough, so there goes the six months theory. That said, I do feel like Big Bang was a bit of a different scenario. There wasn't really anything they could give us without giving us Big Bang. Remember also, Jump is a big patch too. Releasing Legend for the holidays would mean pushing Jump up to months that are typically barren. That means doing a lot of work to release a patch that most people will be too busy to take enjoy. (going by map/image quantities)I'll go out on a ledge here and say that by "big" everyone else means "significant". Jump and Legend are both very significant as is any patch that involves an overhaul of classes, a massive change in the way people train, and new classes. Your argument would presume that the addition of the class that you happen to main was not significant. It would also presume that a revamp of that class is also insignificant and, therefore, of no major consequence. You also falsely presume that the majority of NX buyers are waiting for the legend tier to hit; they aren't. The only ones who would bother holding out would be those who already have all their items at Unique. Most people don't have this "problem". You can't jump two tiers in one cube, after all. Of course, this also presumes that cubes are their biggest cash cow. So many presumptions... Upcoming content - Atuan - 2011-08-24 I don't disagree. Jump is large, and I'm probably overestimating the GMS team's localization speed. They've been very good about getting content here in a timely fashion lately, though. If what you said is true, then what I said must also be true because it's intrinsically implied by what you said. Takebacker Wrote:People are also waiting because legend cubes make rare items unique after you buy like 30. Yeah it's a lot but you're better off fusing for stuff until legend and then worrying about damage.I wasn't aware of that, lending me to believe that most players aren't either. Again, source please. In the future, if you have nothing meaningful to say in response to something, you probably shouldn't bother posting your response. I read "Lol'd" as "I really have nothing I could possibly say to this, but I don't have enough control to not reply to every single sentence, regardless." Atuan Wrote:I don't disagree. Jump is large, and I'm probably overestimating the GMS team's localization speed. They've been very good about getting content here in a timely fashion lately, though.True on both accounts. They have had a rather great release timeline lately, but I still have my doubts that they could pull out two major patches in such a short time. Trying to get anything out of the Dev Blogs isn't helping much either. After all, the one Spadow posted doesn't hint at much else after Jump, but it was also posted just two days before Nexon announced the Legends patch, so it's not like they would have the ability to hint at it anyway. Then there's this Dev Blog in which they say that they "only had a few months" to come up with Age of Triumph, which turned out to be utterly underwhelming despite most of it being ripped from another version. If it took them several months to ready that patch, I have little optimism for them getting the other two done in a timely manner. They'll probably release Cannon Shooter and Mercedes close, since they don't have much content to actually have for patches. However, if they add Demon Slayer any sooner, it would kill the possible hype I think. they'll probably span events out for Cannon Shooter and Mercedes for a month or two, which leaves Demon Slayer for March or April. |
