Big Bang Is In the Air - Coogi - 2010-10-14 Wrong Person. Big Bang Is In the Air - LittlePrincess - 2010-10-14 I don't think you really mis-addressed the issue. Effectively for you (and probably most other high level mages) it's the same issue. But this is an issue that a different version of maple story tried to address (did SEA make the wands/staffs first?) and it turns out KMS had a different solution. It would be silly for Nexon to implement KMS's fix as is without adjustment because now this item creates imbalance. (Not that it ever stopped them before - look how long it took to add the penalties.) But I don't think the change will be as drastic as you suppose. Currently the wands/staffs are rare and expensive. So naturally they should give a good boost above the normal level. But a reasonable solution might be to make adjustments such that a mage that does not use this wand would get 10% less damage than what KMS has while a user of this wand would get 15% more damage than what KMS has. In that way you provide balance (which was the original point) while still maintaining the special bonuses that have been implemented in our version. IImaplers Wrote:Spending precious time and money on something only for it to completely backfire on you is what I'm talking about. If the value of ele wands staves was drastically lowered with a supposed change of their bonus of +25% element to say +5% of an element, that would qualify as an example. It just shows that all the hard work in obtaining/scrolling/etc. ele wands/staves is for naught. Who wouldn't be mad in that case? Maybe Swordstaker is the only one who wouldn't. Jamie's mini-rant was HOT. omg jamie marry me in-game plz Big Bang Is In the Air - Polka - 2010-10-14 just posting to say i'm still in general agreement with ray, and total agreement with his reasoning. i think a lot of people were misconstruing his "what should be"'s for "what will be"'s, though. it's not as if he's saying nexon is doomed, so i don't know where anything he says is spreading fud. he's stating market truths. october is the best time of year to sell because of the christmas buyers. you want to put out your best goods during that period. by missing it, nexon is certainly missing big time profit. this doesn't mean no one will buy nx, it doesn't mean they won't make any money. it just means they won't make as much as they could. since that has always been nexon's primary concern, it is illogical that they would miss such an opportunity. this may actually be a good sign, in a way. instead of rushing content for money they're doing the smart thing and making sure it works before release. Even after the balance patch where the ultimate mp costs were reduced and the skill's power increased, elemental weapons stayed the same despite speculation that something would be done about them. It is possible that GMS will address some concerns for the items but I'm quite sure that they'll remain the same after Big Bang. Archmages/Evans are still be behind the major dpm classes after the revamp with the elemental weapons taken into account so I doubt that they can be considered broken to KMS's idea for balance. If they suddenly made Archmages/Evans from mid to OP tier with the new skill designs, then I can see the reasoning behind your argument. My stance is that I value hard work, and I expect something in return for my hard work, and for it's value to not be taken away whether it be figuratively or literally. The work I put into this game is what I value, and I expect just rewards like most other people who play this game, and I expect those rewards to be given now or in the near future. I don't care what happens to maple far down the road. I know what is inevitable and what isn't.You must be reading me wrong. I was saying what was said by me and you was contradictory. Your sorta right about that death. Not so much backfire but what your saying is that you worked hard to get what you got but if its just taken away whats the point. That can be applied to life. You work hard get as much luxury as you can and then one day it's all taken away. Sort of the same concept. Big Bang Is In the Air - Random_Overlord - 2010-10-14 Reguarding balance as the key issue in their statement, let me note that the Bowmaster job is outmatched overall by the wild hunter job. WH's get the same skills, the same basic idea as a bowmaster, but instead they use a crossbow with a higher damage multiplier. I feel they might take the time to change this, because as it is right now bowmasters may become the lowest tier of the archer base. On a side note, the issue with cooldown times for the Mage's ultimate skills may stay the same. Why? It's all due to the balance of the game. As I'm sure, Nexon has known for years that the mage jobs were very overpowered with their ultimate skills. A cooldown was needed, and was suggested millions of times before and this patch is them telling us: "We agree, no one should be able to spam a skill equivalant to a nuke every second and potentialy use it to harrass other players." I'm glad they're opening tespia as well (Hope I get in... ) this may kill off potentialy game killing glitches that may make it into the real servers. Nexon did imput that some ideas may not take place in the update. I think that some things like the nerfed 2x experience options may be kept on our end due to the fact that the average high leveled mob in the Big bang update has the same experience rates, but 3x more Hp. Even if the leveling rates have been halved, thats still a large number of experience to get if your past level 140 and getting 5k experience from a mob that has over 250k hp does not help. Other than that it seems like a well writen "We love you guys" blog post from the dev team. Big Bang Is In the Air - Takebacker - 2010-10-15 It wouldn't necessarily mean less profit. If they nerfed it to 1.5x cards for example, that's probably equal to what a 2x card did for you pre-BB. What i mean is, leveling on 1.5x post is about the same as 2x pre. Yes? As for this affecting their sales, i think it won't. People will still pay because 1.5x is still MUCH better than 1x. Rather than a possible nerf to cards resulting in less income i think the big bang itself would cause a dip in sales simply because that was one of the driving forces behind it's creation. To make the grind easier. If leveling is bearable, you don't have to spend as much money on cards. All of this can be remedied by just hosting weekend 2x or 1.5x events twice on weekends, though. Big Bang Is In the Air - AzureKite - 2010-10-15 December seems like a very reasonable time to start Big Bang though. More people having time off to play Maple during their Holiday break is a big thing. That's just a smart move in general I believe. Plus the use of Tespia was smart on their part. This helps the players feel more comfortable with Big Bang and what's going to happen. It makes a smoother transition in my opinion. Quite satisfied with how things are looking. I'm thinking our adventurer rings won't get nerfed as well. Just have a feeling. Big Bang Is In the Air - Dusk - 2010-10-15 The adventurer rings weren't nerfed at all. +% crit damage is just not a stat after BB. The only "nerf" was to the crit system, making crit worse overall for previously crit-dependent classes while boosting crit for other classes. Yeah, quite the similar concept but different circumstances. @coogi: You're damn right I take it serious when I spend hard-earned real-life money on the game. Why shouldn't that aspect be taken seriously? In other words, the gameplay to me is not serious, but what I expect in return for what I spend is serious. As a business, Nexon is serious about gaining the most money from it's customers as possible. I'd like to think I am just as serious about what I get from them in return as a customer. If we all thought this way, I think Nexon might get off it's lazy ass in the customer service department and other areas in which they are insufficient. that's whysosrs. @LittlePrincess: thx for clarifying. I don't think ele weapons make post BB GMS im-balanced in terms of damage though. Remember that mage weapons have a 1.00x damage multiplier, which is lower than most other types of weapons. Mages also tend to have slower attacks than other classes. I think even with ele-weps it all balances out. If it doesn't, then I think a better solution would be for GMS to change monster stats/weaknesses instead, as tedious as that might be. :] Big Bang Is In the Air - iamflip - 2010-10-15 Hmm... in KMS, the majority of mobs (at least that I encountered from lv 1 - 50) dropped loads of pots to the point that one never needs to buy pots up to a certain point (for example: where only blue pots can only get you so far, thus making you sell those off in favor of getting mana elixers). I wonder if that'll carry over to here. :v |
