Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - godofturtles - 2009-05-19 Thats kind of my point, if they saw this is a problem the same way we do, then they'd take the time to quickly fix it. But I honestly think they view the current version as a way to profit from gacha, even though some people continue to underestimate them. Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Kabanaw - 2009-05-19 draconius Wrote:You know how many actually do this? Barely any, so please stop characterizing even a reasonable portion of the population like that. Bishops are characterized as some 50-70% low luk/luk, and 30-50% lukless. Of the lukless ones, we'll be fair and say half of them are reasonably funded or sell leech. Of that, maybe half or 2/3rds will consider an Ele wand, and out of that we have what is basically some 2-5% of the entire bishop population actually owning any of the lvl 130 ele wands. You keep telling me that bishops leech and thus are able to purchase it through leech money, yet, to get this weapon, a bishop would have to leech 100+ hrs at skelegons to fund it, and thats if they sell for enough to defray pot costs. Even the power leechers that do some 14hrs on weekends will need a month or so to save up for this. Why do people keep missing what I'm saying? I had a problem with that one person that supposedly bought multiple ones. I'll just say this right now: I DO NOT CARE IF BISHOPS BUY ELEMENTAL WEAPONS. IF THEY GET A USE OUT OF THEM, THEN THEY SHOULD BUY IT. While I would prefer Bishops couldn't use the weapons, I have no problems with them using them as long as they get an advantage. I just didn't like it when one specific bishop supposedly bought multiple wands for no reason other than aesthetics. I never said anything against Bishops buying one wand. Ray Wrote:Just remember nexon's in it for the profit, and as a few people have said, eweps come from gach, and if they make it undesirable for bishops (perhaps the most popular class by far) then they'd lose alot of gach income. This thread is just getting more and more circular. It's already been argued that Nexon won't change ele weapons because they lose profit; It's already been argued that it's rare for people to go to gach EXCLUSIVELY to find an elemental weapon. They'd lose a few thousand dollars at most, which when already looking at their gigantic profit margin isn't that much. The difference there being if I swap between a 190 mattack Ice Staff and a 190 mattack Lightning staff, my damage actually changes. A bishop's doesn't. I have a legitimate value in having one of each of my type. There is no type that adds value to a bishop beyond the mattack, so multiple "flavors" of approximately the same mattack are just hoarding. The analogy to a food shortage could easily refer to a bishop taking something that is "rightfully" an archmages. At any rate, this whole thing has literally been blown out of proportion. You can point out 1 bishop that has that many elemental wands, and I can point out that I just saw a thread on sleepy where a NL had 3 Ele wand 5s for sale (presumably he sold one). The fact of the matter is, its their money, and they can spend it however they wish to spend it. There is no restriction that these "ought" to belong to one group or another, and lets not delude ourselves into believing that the market and the sheer commodity of these things is tiny enough so that ONE bishop hording 4 of them is going to raise the price significantly (and really, ONE instance of this vs. how many instances of AMs holding 2). Again, the point to reiterate here is that I could spend all my money to horde Ribgols and Stonetooths for all anyone is allowed to care, and no one has the right to question my ABILITY to do this (although my sanity could easily be put into question). Again, I have stated that no one gaches exclusively for this wand, but it influences their decision, and at a time when Nexon is trying to encourage gachapon and at a time when little kids' allowances are getting smaller and smaller, that could easily make or break a proposal to buy tickets. It's not a thousand dollars that's at stake here; when you have something that could trigger an onset of purchasing, the potential lost is much more significant. Again, how many people are going to gach at NLC if they know that the best thing they can get is an Ele wand 5 selling for less than 100mill? They certainly won't be spending more than 25 tickets I'm assuming. Ribgol and Stonetooth Sword is two names for the same weapon. you probably know this but your wording irked me. Honestly, I don't really hold any vendetta vs. Bishops. As it is, I honestly don't care what they do with their weapons and I don't think they should have to "make their weapons available" to other classes that supposedly need it more. It's correct that A/Ms make more use of the wand, but you cannot argue that Bishops don't get a large boost from it too. On the other hand it's stupid for Bishops to whine about the wands being changed to have a holy reduction. That's, AFAIK, how the wands were originally programmed in every other version (I only know about gMS so don't quote me on that) and its a simple bug fix. To sum it up really, A/Ms aren't any more entitled to the wands than any other class. I can see where you are coming from, really, but the fact of the matter is just because you can use it better doesn't mean another class shouldn't be able to use it too. That's a lot like saying only Heroes should be able to buy Stonetooth Swords because they (in the public eye) make better use of them than Paladins. Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - draconius - 2009-05-19 Oh my mistake, I was trying to think of the name of the other one but it wasn't quite ringing a bell. The neutrality of that statement is pretty much a case that a lot of us can agree on. No, bishops shouldn't WHINE per se, but neither should archmages see bishops using these things as "unfair" and a reduction a means to an unclear end. I trust the OP will be updating the forum on the situation regarding this matter that is evidently near and dear to her heart, but the opinion I espouse, as with many that have already posted, is that we don't NEED an answer and that Nexon probably doesn't want to give one either. Knowing this makes it all the more comforting to know that its been as many years since these wands were released with no penalty without explanation. The bread analogy never said anything about one Bishop buying one wand. There were 10 people and 10 loaves. One for each. How did that say that Bishops buying one wand was selfish? And if people stopped Gaching at NLC, big deal. They'd just go to Zip. I'm pretty sure they have Ele Wands and better items too. Quote:Knowing this makes it all the more comforting to know that its been as many years since these wands were released with no penalty without explanation. Many years? Wat? They came out last August :O Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Atruya - 2009-05-20 Thread on the Nexon fora is being flooded with tl;dr walls of text and no Nexon employee to be seen. They can't ignore us forever, can they? oO Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Bribery - 2009-05-20 I didn't read through the thread because I'm sure it's just the same crap from the millions of other threads on this topic, so forgive me if I repeat something that has been said already. I don't know why people think that a holy reduction is going to magically make these wands more available and affordable. Sure, the Poison and Lightning wands will deflate but the Fire and Ice wands are going to stay expensive regardless. They're end-game weapons for Arch Mages and they provide more of a power boost than billions of mesos worth of shields, earrings, and overalls. The 700m+ price tag on these weapons is worth every meso. I don't know why Arch Mages are constantly whining about being so "disadvantaged" that they feel that their end-game weapon should be common and affordable for everyone. End-game weapons have never been cheap and nor should they ever be. Every class has to pay a considerable amount of meso for an endgame weapon, even the less common classes like Marksmen, Corsairs, and Shadowers. My Corsair's gun was 500m when Gun scrolls are quite cheap. The boost it got in damage is still less than the boost that Mages get from their secondary Ewands (Poison and Lightning), and the price tag is roughly the same. Arch Mages were already better trainers than any non-Bishop class before Elemental Wands, and now they're capable of OHKO-ing every neutral and elemental advantage training grounds. I rarely see threads of NL's complaining about 30m+ per 30% Claw Atk or Paladins being outshined by Heroes and DrKs on Elemental Advantage training grounds. Yet there are so many threads on Arch Mages whining about Bishops being able to use Elemental Wands. So what. Suck it up and go earn some meso. Everyone can merchant, everyone can hunt for drops, and all 3 Magician classes can sell leech. Don't bother bringing in the "Arch Mages suck at bosses" argument. Make some friends and establish connections if you really want to Horntail/Zakum. I know several Arch Mages that are invited to Horntail and Zakum runs constantly. Some of them even host these runs. Groups rarely take random people on their run. It's such a common misconception that being a Bishop = instant invites to every boss battle. This thread has gotten way off track and I'm reading some of the stupidest arguments ever, such as 1 Bishop buying all 4 EWands justifies nerfing them. ![]() I do think that EWands should have had their reduction implemented early on. However, at this point, it's way too late to implement the holy reduction as many Bishops and Arch Mages have spent billions to get their EWand. There is going to be a lot of backlash for Nexon if they implement it now, because both Arch Mages and Bishops are going to lose money. Second paragraph: It will be cheaper as bishops would need to get rid of them. More supply and less demand basically pushes the price down. Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Bribery - 2009-05-20 Devil's Sunrise Wrote:First paragraph: How do they lose money? Didn't you basically answer your first question with your second point? :f6: There will obviously be some initial deflation, but Ice and Fire Wands will still be expensive and most likely still in the 1b range, for Ice at least. EWand7 is already the most expensive wand for a reason. There are plenty of Ice Mages around. Take a look at MapleSEA, where they have the holy reduction. Ice Berg wands (lvl 130 Ice) sells for 1b+ clean, which is roughly the GMS price tag. EWand5 is the rarest out of the 4 EWands in GMS. F/P's may be a small class, but there is still a small supply of wands for them. The wands are still rare from gach and they seem to have become less common than they were a few months ago. I browse the FM a lot and I've only seen 2-3 Ewands for sale this month. If the fix/nerf is implemented, there will be an initial surge of wands on the market. After those are bought, then what? The supply will slowly dry up, causing inflation again. Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Nikkey - 2009-05-20 Bribery Wrote:Didn't you basically answer your first question with your second point? :f6:I didn't. They earn money by selling it, don't they? It's like saying that I lost money by buying a 117 Heaven's Gate for 360 mill before Himes came out (2 years ago). Its estimated value today is most likely 12 mill or so, right? Does that mean that I lost money on it? Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Bribery - 2009-05-20 Devil's Sunrise Wrote:I didn't. They earn money by selling it, don't they? Ah, I get your point. I should have said "Bishops will lose money, while Arch Mages could have gotten their wands for cheaper/saved NX". Arch mages have no room to complain about "I could've got it cheaper", every class knows that the earliest adopters for anything pay the most. Hell, I paid 1.2b for a type 4 staff, yes, the full luck level 103 secondary (lightning) one, just because it was the first in Mardia. Would it bother me in the slightest if they were 30 mesos on the street corner now? No. I got mine months ahead of the majority of the population and paid a premium for that, that's just economics. I paid 200m for blizzard 30 when it's going for 20m now. 400m for MW20... these things happen. Anyone who whines about it would've found something else to whine about anyhow. Most of the complaint here isn't about price - It's about availability of these. Because an extra 2/3rds the magician classes can technically use them right now for mattack alone, they're that much harder to come by. Even people who have a billion plus mesos can't necessarily get one because they're in the hands of people they weren't made for. If/when Nexon fixes this bishops can turn around and sell them for extortionary level prices for all I care - having more of them available at all is better than now. Fair enough, I can also relate since I paid 300m for Genesis 30 and failed it twice, when now the books are around 150m. But as I mentioned earlier, this availability will only be for a short while, from the initial surge of Bishops getting rid of their wands. After that the wands will still be rare while demand will be high, for Wand5 and 7 at least. The gach rate for EWands seem to have decreased since they were first released because I see fewer wands in the FM each day. I've probably seen 3 or so clean ones for sale this month. Fixing/nerfing the wands is only a temporary solution to the availablity issue. Unlike Bishops, Elemental Wands are usually the first purchase for Arch Mages while Bishops tend to get it when they're close to their OHKO threshold (well, stat-hoars get them earlier ) which is usually late level 16x. When I had my Elemental Wand 8, it was the last purchase for me. I was fully equipped and happy with my equipment before considering an Elemental Wand. As of the latest patch, I sold off my Wand8 because of MW30. Once the book becomes available and I successfully pass it, I'll no longer need my Elemental Wand to OHKO Skeles. Unfortunately, a lot of Bishops don't have this same mindset...Increasing the gach rate for all wands would probably be a better long term solution. This way everyone is happy. Bishops get to OHKO Skeles earlier, Arch Mages can have an easier time finding a wand for sale, and Nexon can roll around in their pile of cash.
Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Fiel - 2009-05-20 Would it be any more right for an unsuspecting Bishop to buy an elemental wand for hundreds of millions of mesos and lose damage because of it? There is no description on the wand that states, "If you are a bishop, this weapon sucks for you!" or anything of the like. The equip is a wand and a staff. Bishops can use wands and staves. What's the issue? Bishops are already receiving LESS POWER from the same item while paying the SAME AMOUNT of mesos. They do not get an elemental bonus for it. They are simply paying more for their own endgame item, just as all AMs are doing. Is it right for them to pay a truckload of mesos for their own endgame equipment and then be told, "oh sorry, the best equip available to you wasn't meant for you. Sell it back for less than what you paid for it. lol." How is it fair to screw over an entire class after all the damage has been done? Moreover, telling Bishops to just go equip something else isn't entirely fair. They paid the mesos for it, and maybe even (white?) scrolled it, and now they'd have to scroll something else instead. It's obvious to me that AMs were created to pay more for power, what with Amplification giving a 40% boost (an advantage over Bishops) AND having another 25% boost (another advantage over Bishops), what more do AMs want? Why should it be fair for Bishops to pay the same mesos for less than another class? Already, these weapons cause AMs ultimate attack to cost 7000 MP for 997 basic attack. Granted, Bishops pay a little less basic attack per MP (3500 MP for 670), but that's at the cost of having a higher chance to 2HKO instead of 1HKO, thus giving AMs a large %/hr advantage over Bishops. It's already unbalanced as it stands in GMS, and players want to make it more unbalanced? I guess I got a lot of questions. Rarely will you find events in economics where someone's entire savings disappears like that, nor will you find policy makers stupid enough to consider doing this at considerable risk to consumer consumption. The 1Bill price tag on Ele Wand 7 is principally the reason why people will be willing to gach 200tickets at Mushroom Shrine in the hope/assumption that they'll be able to make the money back with the wand and turn a profit with the scrolls. When the Wand is worth less, people will gach less tickets, and guess who's left without substantial sales? I don't understand why archmages on this board are so quick to dismiss the incentive these wands provide for gaching when its clear that when ANYTHING comes with a 1Bill prize, that's enough to lure many people into spending money to try and get it. The point of Bribery's post was not to say that this is an initial high price on wands, but that this is a STATIC high price on wands. This is an end game weapon, and thus the standard is and ought to be to command a high price for said weapon. MW, Genesis, Blizzard, are all commodities where even a casual observer would consider to eventually go down in value, not owing itself necessarily to the gach boxes event. As more people are able to HT, more people will find the skills, and eventually Nexon may well have just opened another cave. In Ele wands, the trend is just much slower. I doubt any bishops would complain if their ele wands were 500M or less in some 2-3 years, because that's a reasonable trendline to see the prices go towards. These things happen to skillbooks because they're consumable, but notice how, while Nexon claimed that Ele wand 3 would drop from the second gach event that it actually didn't. Primary weapons of end game value are omitted from spontaneous changes in value (through deflation at least) which is consistent in the past as well as the present. When Evil wings were the "end game" item, they were some 60-70M apiece (that translates to, what, 800M nowadays after the hacker epidemics inflated everything?) clean, and a crappy one would sell for 40 at the very least. Even when DRs and Kages came out, the price for EW was such that people would often be in the 10x before it was possible to purchase them. Nexon subsequently decided that the end game weapons at the time (kages and 'codars) ought to be worth more and EW worth less, and consequently made both drop solely from Zakum (which was hard to kill at the time and when Helms were 150-250M per) and a slew of trainable monsters drop EW and DR. This philosophy carries on in this context as well, since this is the new end game weapon. You could argue supply and demand all you want, but the supply of EWand 6 and 8 aren't driving the prices up; its the demand from archmages themselves. If bishops had never purchased their 6 and 8 wands, do you think archmages would be able to afford them more, knowing that MSEA's prices are the same as ours? The talk about the supply being increased is also ridiculous. Everyone has an equitable chance at purchasing an EWand when it becomes available to the public, with archmages especially more covetous of purchasing one than bishops. Freeing up supply in this context is only serving to artificially deflate the prices from what they are in other servers, which would suggest an immense selfishness emanating from the archmage community. There are a bunch of these things for sale at any given moment, so I severely doubt its because of supply that so many threads end up spilling millions of words out over this debacle. I also think that raising the gach rates for these is probably the best compromise solution to this problem. Bishops still get their 6 and 8 and archmages get cheaper wands. Nexon probably doesn't lose much either since demand increases as the price goes down (heck, why do you think the things are so expensive in the first place lol), and the wider market for that price range is going to be beneficial for them too. It's the only "win-win" situation I can think of, which would at least put mage weapons like ours relatively similar in price to the ones that other classes have >_>;; Talk to Nexon about Elemental Wands/Staves - Nikkey - 2009-05-20 @Fiel: What about skeles?
