Yes, but we were all thinking something more along the lines of a lightsaber - especially with the Unlimited update site thingy showing Xenon with a whip-like energy trail behind him.

It is an old Suikoden design too. Nash Latkje uses Grosser Fluss, two swords that extend into whips, in Gensō Suikogaiden from 2000.
