Spaz Wrote:w00t, got my GBL Arad Branch normal and Expert quests done with help from Kajiti. Kajiti, Felix, up for some Master's runs tomorrow? PM me on SP IRC if you want to and I'm not on. I really hope there aren't any King's quests.

One more level until I can use those new potions. I just got ice grenade; dual-wielding grenade time! If I had room on my hotkeys, I could even triple-wield. I didn't realize until now that I could have held flashbangs and buster grenades at the same time. ._.

Felix is a morning person because his dorm internet connection sucks ass at any later time. Just so you know =P

I looked through a good 20 pages of the thread, and this is somewhat piquing my interest.

How smooth/tough is the grind? Can I get away with a good 0.5-1 hour per level, or am I looking at something higher? I can't say I will stay in it for long. Maybe just sample the classes.

How good is a Priest in terms of unkillability? I'm always more for the tankier class than a glass cannon. How good is their support? Otherwise, I may look at the Slayer. Swordy goodness, or big meatshield?

In the off-chance I ever make it to 18, Crusader or Monk? Berserker or Asura or Blade Master?

I tend to avoid MS and DFO completely from 8 PM -12 ish AM (CDT) when I'm at the dorms. It gets massively bloated then and goes all to hell. I'm usually on early, and I always try finishing my fatigue for the day by or before 6 PM. Solo-wise it's great through all those hours. When it comes to connecting with other people, the earlier the better. Just for reference, I guess.

Regardless, I've found I vastly prefer doing things solo anyway. I have a much more enjoyable time in dungeons alone. I appreciate being included, though. Any weekend that I'm at home, however, I'd be more up for things (PvP included). That's when I have a solid connection to others at any time of the day.

And thus the SP DFO cult grows larger...

There are a few things to consider, such as how many quests you have per level (some levels have no new quests are are thus grinding levels, but these are rare), and there's also how much time you're willing to spend to afk in a dungeon to regenerate your MP if you don't have MP potions. Your exp flow is pretty dependent on how many quests you finish at once, how good your ranking is per dungeon (requires actual player skill), and how many dungeons you do not finish for one reason or another.

DFO PvE play is limited by your fatigue points. I spend about 3-5 hours per day exhausting all my fatigue points. After that, you can PvP for a little bit more exp, but this way is not the most efficient way to level. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until 6 am pst to refresh your fatigue points.

Personally, my level progression was something along the lines of:

DayLvl
110
214
317
419
521
6...

I'm doing less than a lvl per day now, but I'm already pretty close to current end-game, which is level 40. Other versions have the level cap at 60 though.

I do not have experience, but from what I've seen, they're pretty good at surviving. That doesn't mean you can just take their hits all day long though; some of the bosses are capable of wiping you out pretty fast.

Be sure to read the DFO website, as there's a lot of good beginner information that is great to know. In spite of what it says for dungeon difficulty levels, Expert's Road is basically a challenge solo, Master's Road is doable in solo, and King's Road is going to be painful if you're soloing, depending on class. King's Road diffidculty could possibly end it for you quickly if you're not careful, even in parties.

Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread - Jedward - 2009-10-19

From my experience as a Monk (Priest subclass), they're pretty stable at surviving most dungeons, therefore saving precious HP pots. I know I went through level 1-18 using a total of three Wild Strawberries and a handful of low-tier MP pots.

One thing about Priests in general - you have to keep skill usage in check, IMO - you don't want to suddenly run out of MP when you enter the boss room.

It is not hard to level at all, in fact it is very easy. Quests help a lot, giving 5%-15% on average. In you want to be a tank, I would recommend a Crusader or Exorcist due to their heavy armor. Although, a Monk can hold it's own too. Crusaders are support oriented and Exorcist are offense oriented. It is also good to note that Crusaders can also jump into the fight while healing and buffing, no standing in the corner and relying on teammates to kill. Exorcist get more area of effect skills.

When you start playing as a first job, you get a few skills from each class, I would recommend you choose off of which class's skills you like the most. Watching videos of high level characters is also a good way to check on what you are getting yourself into.

For the grind, early level is easy, real easy. All you need to do is take all quests possible, run the dungeon, finish quests, and BAM you level up. You can do this up to 16-18, depends on how many runs you need to finish each set of quests(each regular dungeon comes with a set of quests).

Later levels still have quests, but they only fill your exp bar to 50%-70% or something, and you may run out of quests in some level, which you'd have to grind.

Pure grind is not as fast as questing, but it's not hard either. You can also farm potions when you have no quests(repetitive quests asking you to run a dungeon for items and give you potions as reward)

For classes, I only have 1st hand experience with gunner/fighter and slayer. But every priest(and their subclasses) I fight in pvp takes longer to kill than any other classes :< that speaks for their survivability. They have the best party buffs too.

Slayer just sucks till 20 lol(imo)

You wouldn't have a hard time killing me if I PVPed against you. <_<
I have to wait until, say, 25 to stay much longer in because I screwed up skills so much.

Why the FRICKIN HELL does a person called OCTOPUS HUNTER try killing me? I am not an octopus. ARE YOU F'AGS BLIND? YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY OCTOS AND YOU ATTACK ME? WHAT THE HELL? Frick.

I had to learn the very hard way (2 tokens) that FLYING, something FRICKIN ESSENTIAL TO WITCHES, is not a good idea in the Lab. Frickin little fountain heads EVERYWHERE. And guess what? Even though I'm WAY HIGHER THAN THEM, they stop me dead in my tracks because I can't fly OVER THEM. MAKES SENSE TO ME. FRICKIN FIX THAT CRAP, NEXON. Twice I was trying to fly away, LIKE I ALWAYS DO IN MY USUAL FIGHTING STYLE, and I got caught by a little HEAD and then RAPED IN THE BUTT by two Octopus Hunters.

AWESOME. And that's not even mentioning FRICKIN HYDRACLE. I SWEAR TO GOD IF I SEE ONE MORE OCTOPUS.

GBL Laboratory can suck my plantain.

Ho ho ho! You get what's coming to you! (how could you not notice that you can't go over obstacles, period?)

Isadora on the other hand... >_> "You can't hit me because I'm ducking! Derpity derp derp!" FFS I'M LOW KICKING YOU AND AIR WALKING YOU HOW THE FK DOES DUCKING COMPLETELY NEGATE DAMAGE!!!!! Hothead

Okay things get really weird in the GBL Hatchery o.O At least the dungeon is manageable for every class.

Turns out if you're dungeon romping by yourself, you're most likely going to get butthurt when you find a room with a Lotus Spawn o.O Boss is easy up until 1-2 life bars left, then it gets a little crazy. Just hope to kill him fast enough.

Step 1: Look at stats

Keep in mind that 100 HP is roughly equivalent to 1000 defense against an enemy of the same level. [/COLOR]

That's what I'm confused about. Some hp/mp better or 5str/vitality/int/spirits? And what does mp recovery + 15 really do?

Edit: Btw anyone know is there any exp reduction for doing dungeons you haven't unlocked? Just did 2 kings run on 2nd and 3rd dungeon of behemoth with someone(lv31, I'm 27) and only got like 10k-15k exp o.O

Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread - mrcowcow - 2009-10-19

MP Recov +15 means that for every minute, you recover 15 more MP than you normally would without any MP Recov equips. (It's every minute, right? >_>)

Anyone know exactly what "Cursed" and "Electrocution" do? Lower stats temporarily? Damage over time?

How could I not notice? I've always noticed. Dang, stop always talking with your stupid condescending tone. I'm tired of it. My point was it's ANNOYING AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I can frickin FLY and reach higher points than any other class. I should be able to fly over crap instead of hitting a nonsensical invisible barrier. It's never boned me so hard as it did in the Lab. I was venting. Plain and simple.

And I got what was coming to me? What the hell? Because I liked a dungeon that you didn't? Jesus Christ.
