Something I almost did not consider is that they may not be trolling at all and actually want a "literal" enforcement of the rules and policies. Which sounds good on paper but essentially means that the regulations of Southperry would probably need to be reworked in order to be safe enough for even the youngest user.

Shenanigans and Angry Dome are removed until further notice to determine if they still contain content that is in violation.

If their removal satisfies google they'll be purged and re-enabled with, you guessed it, even stricter moderation.

If this isn't enough to satisfy google and we can't get an answer from them as to what is actually irking them at this point, we're moving providers and you should all brace for the impending pain of that process.

I was a bit worried when I saw those sub-forums had disappeared. A purge makes sense though.

Considering we're on appeal #5 and have already tried deleting over 5000 threads because they keep saying there's stuff (but won't tell us what), yeah. This is getting ridiculous.

The Angry Dome will be getting a rule revision if it comes back, since one of the violations we're being accused of is;

Quote:Negative content
Publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on sites with content advocating against any individual, group, or organization. More information about this policy can be found in our help center.

For anyone curious here are the guidelines for prohibited content for AdSense:

Interesting read. There's a few of them that are no-brainers but there's some strict stuff in here.

If that includes Nexon America then.. yeah, that explains a lot.

Not if you read their examples there :/

Have you tried Amazon yet?

This is why, people, this is why. - Mentalist - 2014-02-05

You might want to try another Adsense network.

Ad providers, not hosting providers.
And good god, yes, Amazon hosting is beyond ridiculous.

This is why I own zero google products, and will never invest in google.

Because google is a rude dude.

Google parades as if they are against censorship, when really, this their forte. : ^)

Er, pretty sure google has taken a stance against pornography and other related subjects. Not that stops anyone from googling it, but they have stated that they are against it.

So the subforums are not gone, just password protected?

Google tells the companies purchasing adspace that their ads will be placed in locations that are "family friendly, etc etc". Because Google sells their adspace this way, they have to patrol websites that utilize Adsense.

They have also taken a stance against pornography in other markets, however I believe it is also directly related to having adsense show ads.

Yet. As I said, if removing them proves sufficient to grant our appeal they'll be brought back, but empty.
They're closed for posting, off our listing, and password locked to prevent people from getting there via old links since for some reason vB doesn't have a way to soft delete whole forums and we want to retain permissions and settings and forum IDs so nothing else gets broken.

Just wondering, but if those subforums were viewable to members only, would the people at google still been able to view it? I would assume they must have access to all pages with their adds right?

Which is exactly why I dont support them, and why this whole mess is happening, cause google is overly strict and strigent on a matter that is basicly a nonfactor.

Because google.

I don't have an installation of VB at the moment, but most forum software (if not all) include premade accounts for spiders (although I think they might be ip based rather than username/pw?).

If you can see their ads they know what else is on the page you're seeing.

There's a time and place for everything. If you're going to a forum based on a MMO that children play for that kind of content, I'd simply just say that "You're doing it wrong".

I'd say it's good to have a Mickey Mouse type ad provider for sites like these to keep 'em clean(mostly) for underagers.
