KhainiWest Wrote:Yes, specifically America, and this is accurate as they restaffed in February of last year. The final quarter results aren't out until the end of the month, I think.

But essentially Nexon is doing fine, a lot of the losses aren't because of lack of interest, rather the economy just sucks right now.

Question, if another company took the distributing rights of MapleStory, where would the profit go to? The distributor or Nexon KR? Say Asiasoft, the distributor of MSEA.

I'd have to look again at their corporate structure but if I remember, essentially all distributors get local profits and send a % to the headquarters. So if I understand your question right, if asiasoft suddenly bought out/somehow gained publication rights that nexon america had access too, the structure wouldn't change just the title of the companies really.

One more thing, if Asiasoft's just a distributor(no they didn't gain publication rights) is it illegal if they alter content without consent?
Because those fags did this:
And they took out EMS's Veracent's miracle scrolls and changed them into 60% scrolls.

If I recall they can't make any changes without some notification from HQ. That's how NA operates, so I'll assume they are under the same guidelines.

Ah I see what you're getting at;

No content in any version is owned by the local distributor. They make a request if the want "unique" content where KMS would then create it. It's not unlikely that they copied and pasted EMS' scrolls with permission to use the data from the HQ.

Without whose consent? Yours?

I'm pretty sure they haven't done anything that NexonKR didn't allow them to do.

So changing miracle scrolls into 60% scrolls and quest rewards by themselves (without even bothering to alter the quest, if I might add) is against the rules? If that's so, they are in hot soup. Because it's not the first time, mind you. We had a nerfed Justice Shop (no PBC or white scrolls), and there was this huge fiasco during the DB revamp patch, where they accidentally released the pre-nerf Justice shop, then hosting a server maintenance that lasted four hours just to remove them. Is that enough reason for the Law to step in?

To be quite frank it would have to be legal because they wouldn't have access to the data unless under HQ's discretion. Nexon america has had entire patches copy and pasted from other versions (CMS example).

It's a civil matter. They have a contract with Nexon Korea. If Nexon feels AsiaSoft is breaking the contract, they can sue them. As long as they don't, the Law has no interest in the matter.

FinaleVoleur Wrote:Well, did you look at the picture?

I did. How do you know it was done without permission?

But translating still had to be done, no?

So nothing the playerbase does can change anything? It's a wonder that people still spend cash on this server. I was told that GMS's players had the impression of our funded players sitting on top of an oil reserve. Well, here's a short video on how much cash the players are willing to fork out for this crap service.

And no there is absolutely no intention of showing-off, or anything.

I was asking if it was done without permission.

That was me that said that Rolleyes. No there's nothing, the problem isn't managament it's different economies/rates/what have you. Management of course has a part in it, but they aren't doing anything illegal by any means. Majority if not all content is coded in HQ, there are very few if any examples of localities actually producing their own content. (Save for JMS but that's now where the HQ is located so it's a bad example).

Well, I guess I have to bear with all these nonsense. Think about it! No free Empress equips for our anniversary. We really are the hell mode of MapleStory.Tongue

tbh i think that video only proves how broken the potential system is.

or how well its working, if you look at it from nexon's point of view

This made my day, LOL!

OT: I would like to see selectable royal face/hair coupons, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more.

The only thing the playerbase can do is vote with their wallets.
After GMS suffered a large loss of players and money, much of Nexon America's staff, as well as its corporate attitude, was replaced, by Korea's orders (I think?).
I don't know whether Nexon has that kind of power over AsiaSoft, but they can rescind their Maple license if they don't pay nice profits to NexonKR.

They should be able to. Unfortunately, that video above is proof that we have far more dollars than common sense and Asiasoft distributes a lot of MMOs here so those that escape Maple may end up playing one of their games anyway.

As for what I'd want...seconding that vote for clothes dyes. I seriously can't take it when the item I like with the perfect design is the wrong colour.

I'm pretty sure that's not possible as Asiasoft makes way more than some servers (I think) due to guys like above spending 1-2k SGD/MYR( Singapore dollars/ Malaysia Ringgit) PER MONTH. They are like, MapleSEA's Limgoon(s). Each of them are inclined to overspend while players at GMS need only pay half the price to have the same damage or even outdamage them.

this.

a company that provides a service or sells a product gauges success by sales.

if the community is telling them "we dont like how expensive cubes are!" but nexon sees that NX sales are the same last quarter as this one or even higher. as a result, they are less inclined to believe players are unsatisfied because theyre still buying them.

what you should do man is get a boycott going. talk to all the big NX buyers on your server, talk to them and discuss a boycott on cubes or w/e youre trying to affect. if you get alot of people on board, send in an email saying "this portion of people, a portion that is very active in buying NX, is not satisfied with how you currently run. we will not be buying NX/cubes/whatever until we see some change."

no garuntee it would work, but sapta is right. only way to get some change is to show asiasoft you're not satisfied with whatever and you wont be buying NX until you are.

Why not just let us choose the colour when purchasing? A lot of MMOs have that. Oh wait, this is Nexon, so I guess they'll want to earn more.Tongue
