Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Bomber - 2012-09-27 I got the bully title and I don't know how. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - MariettaRC - 2012-09-27 Archers and pirates get the shaft again, eh? ![]() I'll try this out today and give my opinion but expect it to be like everyone else's. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - bast963 - 2012-09-27 This pvp is so retarded. Yesterday I went in, one guy was a lvl 154 unfunded UA sair, basically meat, he hits me for jack pomegranate while I get the comfort of doing my 10 second OS+FB without dying. Some lvl 194 Bishop was raping everything, and taking like 1/10 damage, and I was like "wtp is this nerf pls" but after reading this thread I realized how OP magic guard is. Random Phantom in the map was dodging a bunch, but whenever that doesn't work, it's just like 3 final tosses and he's dead. Random Pally was all like "GUARD GUARD GUARD GUARD" like wtp nerf pls again. Today I went in, random BM and Phantom, I'm like "meh who cares time to bash heads and hit 300k." Then some jackass NX whore (and probably hacker) Phantom from iTease guild hopped in, with his lucky guy medal and everything, and did like one attack and got kills. He quickly left (bored maybe?) and then soon after some random DB from a guild I've never heard of came in, almost as funded as the Phantom that left. At this point, the only people in the map were me and him, and he kills me in one pineappleing hit. Then he leaves (bored again?) and I'm like "pineapple this." Never again lol. Liteness Wrote:how good is the exp per kill on a low lvl char? im getting 500k-1mil on the lowest level then 1-2mil on very high on a 200 char though I get like 250k for low level kills on my 184 Aran, and probably higher if I kill steal a lvl 200. On my lvl 74 Phantom, I get 11890 for randomly killing one guy (2.4%) but that's all I managed to kill because my damage sucked and everyone was too high level for my noob Phantom. Also the 3rd job map just as empty as the 4th job one, so pineapple this underplayed pvp. Well, I get destroyed by a lot of marksmen Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - IllegallySane - 2012-09-27 MariaColette Wrote:Archers and pirates get the shaft again, eh? I dunno. Hurricane spamming and homing arrows seem to be pretty deadly. Pretty much going in a la Rambo. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - MariettaRC - 2012-09-27 IllegallySane Wrote:I dunno. Hurricane spamming and homing arrows seem to be pretty deadly. Pretty much going in a la Rambo. At least in the old pvp, Hurricane is actually really weak, and its homing range really isn't noteworthy when you consider everyone moves around everywhere. >_> Also, single-target. You were better off spamming Inferno. And let's not forget how ultra squishy we are. At least the Phoenix effect is passive now but that doesn't stop us from being KO'd before we could even land many hits in. I haven't even tried the new PvP yet (about to right now, actually) and I already know why it's horribad for archers; Bowmasters, specifically, because Marksmen seem to do much better than us. I could be wrong with the current PvP, but it sure was like this on the last one. You were better off spamming Inferno. Ironically, Phoenix, Puppet and Ultimate Inferno are your keys to win. I die way more often to those than by Hurricane. Then again Bowmasters aren't too common in PvP. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Grey - 2012-09-27 Well, this certainly wasn't any fun =/ ![]() I guess it wasn't right for me to say straight up that he sucked, though =/ Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - MariettaRC - 2012-09-27 McAwesomesauce Wrote:Ironically, Phoenix, Puppet and Ultimate Inferno are your keys to win. Well, just tried it for the first time and I was doing exactly this before seeing your post and you are indeed correct, haha. Did PvP for about 15-ish mins, I left with 29 wins and 28 losses. I started really losing when I got chucked in a room with Phantoms and a Bishop. >_> But before that, it was actually okay with me winning more than losing, all while people still got a fair shot at me. Phantoms and Bishops are just really overpowered in here because as soon as I stepped in the room, I barely finished buffing before I got KO'd. All in all, it's not TERRIBLE to me... but as soon as you see any Phantom or Bishop, it goes downhill FAST. It'd be completely okay if those classes were at the very least nerfed in PvP. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Sephie - 2012-09-27 I went to PvP for the daily quest... 1st room, everything sadly dies. 2nd room, everything sadly dies. Final room, 2 Phantoms and a Bishop. Both the Phantoms had Dispel + Holy Magic Shell and their general pattern goes like this: Shell -> Dispel -> Attack -> Run -> Dispel -> Run -> Dispel -> Run -> Dispel -> Shell -> Repeat. Summary: Their entire strategy is to run away while dispelling until their Holy Magic Shell is up. Dispel is used to keep you from chasing them since you're more inclined to rebuff than chase them after a full buff wipe. And guess what... Dispel's CD is 15 seconds (or 10... I forget which) so by the time you catch up to them, they'll Dispel you and run away again. And oh btw, Holy Magic Shell heals you for a good amount of HP so it doubles as a heal skill. - The Bishop general pattern was like this : Shell -> Dispel -> Attack -> Heal -> Run (while at full HP after their full Heal) -> Keep running -> Dispel -> Still running -> Dispel -> Even more running -> Shell -> Attack -> Heal and run and repeat it twice. Summary: Their entire strategy is to run away while dispelling until their Holy Magic Shell is up + they're at full HP + their Heal is off cooldown. This gives them 10 hits of invulnerability, and 2 HP bars worth of punishment (which Bishops can take a stupid amount of) before they just run away until everything's back up. Dispel while running is the same with the Phantom's mentality: it's just a tool to deter you from chasing them. What's even worse is that because they have a summon, you can't even hope to chase them without getting spat on by Bahamut every time you get close. Since all summons in this game grossly outdamage their masters... you get the point. - This just makes me not want to play even for the daily quests... and I'm not even raging that I did poorly (got a good ratio because Divine Shield keeps you alive better than Holy Magic Shell believe it or not + I'm funded)... it's just that it's not even fighting anymore. Let me get this point across: none of them did anything wrong; they were completely within their right to abuse any abilities their class offers... it's just that looking at it from above... you can't help but feel that what's happening in PvP degenerated into a disgusting mess that I can't even call it PvP anymore. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Jamesie - 2012-09-27 Sephie Wrote:I-snip-I really agree with what you said here. I understand there's using your character's potential, but then there's also just abusing your character's potential. It's just annoying as all hell to play against someone who just runs around in the circle until some critical cooldowns are up again. Honestly, they should make the map a little smaller and ditch all the flash jumps, jag jumps, and etc.. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Sarah - 2012-09-27 The second I see a Phantom, Bishop or Thief (with Dark Sight) I leave at this point because it's a waste of my time. As a non-NX whore I'm completely balanced vs. every other class. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Dark Link - 2012-09-27 Tried 20 minutes of PvP. Extremely depressing when I was one shotting most people I ran into. Went 25-5 cause...yeah. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Secun - 2012-09-27 McAwesomesauce Wrote:Also, no one should ever bother going after a Mechanic for any reason; you will die. Don't do it. If you are an F/P, however, do whatever you want. 4th Job Mihile wrecks Mechanics provided they're only using Siege Mode spam. Also Magic Crash does dispel Demon Slayer/Paladin/Hero damage reflect skills, not sure on Magic Guard. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Cere - 2012-09-28 Secun Wrote:4th Job Mihile wrecks Mechanics provided they're only using Siege Mode spam.Dispel does nothing to MGuard when it's a PvE boss casting it. Dunno about PvP. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Cere - 2012-09-28 Ahh, I got to go up against another I/L! They were higher-leveled than me, judging by their summons, but watching them kill me was educational. The thing is, timing should be so important, but the weird blocky lag that pervades PvP kind of precludes any practice of good timing on my part. Inelegant
Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Dark Link - 2012-09-28 The lag was stupid as hell lol. I had trouble FJing on my DS and I NEVER had trouble doing that in old PvP. Same with Demon Impact. I didn't think it could get any worse! Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - FlameChocobo - 2012-09-28 The PVP for me is just.... X_X I get destroyed easily and trying to kill the people is luck based due to lag that makes the controls clunky and unresponsive. *sigh* Looks like the only way to get GE is to just farm them, which is going to be annoying (Not sure if they removed it or not.) Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - Vanderlust - 2012-09-28 From my point of view, nothing's really changed from the old PvP. Still too much lag, too difficult to balance to be taken seriously. Now that gear comes into play, skill is even less of a factor. PvP just doesn't seem to fit in a game like maple. The only skillset you can to differentiate yourself from another player besides gear is positioning/timing of skills, but that is completely destroyed by 1) the lag, 2) the presence of many, many skills that have a large range. There's no such thing as a feint in Maple PvP because you'll see it too late for it to do its purpose and there's not much mechanical skill in pressing your ultimate button. As a result, PvP inevitably devolves into sets of simple, premeditated strategies depending on your class that leave little room for an individual to prove themselves superior over his/her opponents (excluding gear). A cannoneer's strategy is to camp with their summons. A merc's strategy is to run around until they have their burst damage again and/or tag someone with their overpowered summon. A corsair's/bucc's strategy is sit and die. A phantom's strategy might be to hide in DS and pick off people at the end of their skirmishes. In order for PvP to work, before they even think about balance between classes, they would need to completely revamp skills, maps, the lag, everything, and I just don't see it happening. PvP in Maplestory is and always will be a joke. That being said, that doesn't stop me from playing it for shits and giggles. I encountered a DrK who I couldn't kill without killing myself. His PG killed me while he was AFK after I Lightning Edge'd him. Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle - PeePeeAyeDeeKay - 2012-09-28 Tried the new PvP for a bit, seemed pretty dam horrible being killed left and right with minimal hits... The gap between a funded and unfunded player's potentials is literally huge in this new PvP. I guess the rich get richer and the poor.. well, "you can go and die off". L> Pre-Champions PvP back.. not to mention it had a variety of maps before...SIGHHH.. |
