Are you legit? - Elven Emily - 2012-03-05

Cursed in game
Leeched familiar hack
Trained on glitched maps
I say I am 55% legit.

Alot of people here dab into the grey areas. Does that make them illegit? that's debatable. It doesn't mean we need to go out and brand them like animals.

The people who have fallen into the darkside completely tho... that's a different matter.

Where does the darkside end and the grey begins?

Im not gonna lie, I used to hack a while back.
I have broken the ToS on many occasions. Thankfully, on old (banned) accounts.

I am 100% legit now. :3

It's a matter of personal opinion and perspective. Some people consider themselves legit even though they train on glitched maps or used familiar hackers to their advantage, while others would say that that is straight-up cheating and deserves a ban.

Really depends on where you draw the line and as we can see in this thread, everyone puts it wherever the hell they feel like it.

I only asked that because of how sufian put it. The way he said it seems like it would be pretty easy to recognize the darkside and the grey areas.

If we are going by the exact words, then nope. Otherwise, the worse I've done is take advantage of some glitch oversights (like when 50% scrolls were obtainable so long as you kept deleting and remaking an Aran).

Truth.

Afrobean Wrote:I think they mean "hacked".

Don't know why people say "glitched" when they mean "hacked".

Nexon occasionally makes an effort to keep hackers at bay. They recently deleted a bunch of hacked items. I hear they've also temp banned for offensive killstealing at least once.

But when has Nexon ever brought down the law on people who have a name like "BobIsCool" or "MrAwesome"?

OH Then yes I have taken part in a party with hacked spawn.
oh well lol.

Are you legit? - Exidous - 2012-03-06

It's a failure of game design when people can't tell who is hacking or what actions are having horrible effects on the economy. Basically every problem except duping has a relatively easy fix if Nexon got off their fat asses. And if those other problems were fixed, the potential damage from duping would be reduced too.

So the bottom line is, we shouldn't have to have this discussion. Defending a standard of legitimacy doesn't have much meaning when it's so easily breached due to Nexon's incompetence.

Mario Wrote:Going from Cursing, to scamming, to multiple accounts,to even hacked spawns.

What's wrong with having multiple accounts?

Well, since you're talking about MS in general, I'm just gonna say that almost everybody in MSEA swears. Everything under the sun from "fk you", "wtp" and "fml" to a smorgasbord of hokkien vulgarities.

Also, MSEA players are basically encouraged to have multiple accounts, since the Asiasoft Passport (basically an all-encompassing account with Asiasoft) allows players to create up to 4 MS accounts tied to it.

If you define "scamming" as "deceiving others to benefit self", then we have a whole ton of jerks who scam a free MC or Ghost Ship win off of others, on top of the typical item/meso scammers.

Personally, I did download an auto-clicker many many years back but deleted it in under 30 minutes because I couldn't get it to work. If you asked me to use one now...who am I kidding, holding down NPC Chat works better and is 100% legit. Also, I'm not above exploiting certain bugs/glitches for my own benefit, but I do not partake in them excessively.

Here's what I will and won't do when it comes to bug exploitation due to oversights:

- If it nets me a chair, I'll do it just so I can add it to my collection. All other rewards will be ignored.
- If it nets me special equipment, or upgrades to said equipment, I'll only do it if and only if I do not see myself having enough time to do it properly. For example, if I could level up an Evolving Ring to its maximum level within a single day by exploiting a glitch, I'll only do it if I'll be so busy in subsequent days that I won't have enough days left to max it out normally.
- If it nets me scrolls or other items that can be sold for a profit, I won't ever do it.
- If it can help me clear a PQ quicker without any drawbacks, I won't do it simply because it sucks having it be so easy.
- If it helps me level up much faster than I normally would, I wouldn't do it now (Jump/Ascension) because it's so easy to level up compared to pre-BBP.

So I guess that makes me illegit?

In the dead land of Zenith, you're either in a hacked LHC map or training solo.

Are you legit? - LegendGospel - 2012-03-08

I ONCE BOUGHT AN OBVIOUSLY DUPED WHITE SCROLL FOR 9M UNDER THE AVERAGE PRICE OH GOD

I would do it again.

Proudly illegit.

Are you legit? - Judgment - 2012-03-08

Nope. I was guilty of offenses such as associating with hackers in real-life (although not in-game), at least one instance of account sharing, and acting like an arsehole to supposed "non-legits".

God that made me realize how much of an arsehole I was back when I still played this game.

Daakun Wrote:In the dead land of Zenith, you're either in a hacked LHC map or training solo.

Tell me about it. I actually preferred soloing Bearwolves on my BM and netted the same exp as a hacked crock map (no one would ever let me have the bottom), but I couldn't train at bears because I couldn't even find 4 leechers while I solod and hsed myself.

Besides training at hacked spawn maps, the only thing I did that I consider illegit is buy 27att vss. I'll be getting rid of those as soon as positive chaos come out. With that exception, I have avoided duped/hacked gear to the best of my ability even when it costed me far more mesos/nx.

Am I legit in the stricted sense? No. Do I attempt to avoid contributing to the massive degradation of this game by avoiding hack and hack related benefits? Yes.

Durex Wrote:The current "drop system" is a complete failure. It's way to advantageous to the hacker/botter. The only other way of "hunting" your book would be to gacha in your class' town.

And when you think about it.. It isn't just MMBs.

What about recipes? Super rare recipes such as DAB, Abyss, Fearless, Android Heart, are close to impossible to hunt for. I spent many hours hunting a gold heart recipe even on 4x drop It's just tedious! Also items such as the dominator pendant.. how is someone suppose to make this without duping essences?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy items made rare by the challenge of making/earning them but it feels like the system is built around hackers instead of adjusted to combat them..

This is soo true. Anything level 10 in the professions is pretty much impossible to get without a botter/duper. The items are just too rare.

Nice black and white world rant disguised as a poll.

Are you legit? - MariettaRC - 2012-03-08

Illegit in the sense that I have sworn, kill-stealed (never deliberately but defensively but I still did it), shared accounts, used multiple accounts and taken advantage of glitches, albeit minor ones. Buying duped scrolls too if that counts, even unknowingly.

Legit in the sense that I have never touched hacked spawn maps nor illegitimate weapons and do my own scrolling. I don't buy pre-scrolled equipment, so I don't even own VSS. Every single one of my equipment were either found, made or earned. I also usually do things solo or with guildmates and never trust randoms anymore. I also stay far away from money-making/EXP glitches.

So it's either one or the other, depending on how you look at it.

Are you legit? - KhainiWest - 2012-03-08

I'm not legit or illegit, I am Legend.

Are you legit? - Sephie - 2012-03-08

The moment I became illegit was when I caved and bought the 27att VSS in MTS way back.

I didn't swear, curse, use multiple accounts, buy NX with meso, hack, bot, exploited glitches, or even merch illegit items before that. I don't even KS.

However, after I bought the shoes, I stopped caring and did most of the above (not hacking or botting...).
