Same here.

Might be interesting to compare traceroutes.
Guessing all the failing ISPs are using the same hub which has somehow failed to notice some change in Nexon's routing.

Eos Wrote:But is it actually with the ISPs, with a common gateway the ISPs are using to get to Nexon's servers, or something Nexon's done?

So many points of failure.

Unfortunately I don't know nearly enough about ISPs or the internet to properly determine how and why people are blocked (but if anyone else can, go ahead!), but that's the conclusion I've come to - in general, it seems there is 'an issue' with certain ISPs. What that actually consists of I have no idea.

inb4 Nexon fixes all but ISPs located outside their service area.. i.e me Rolleyes

I'm still trying to think how this 'error' has come to be. Did they purposely try and block something and nexon it up or did some ISPs gang together and say nexon is so much of a nexon that we wont let our customers go near?

One does wonder.

ISPs conspiring to block Nexon is a bit farfetched.

Wild guess:
Nexon changed something about their network, maybe finally replaced that faulty box that was periodically cutting their entire network off... or added another in parallel to it. This change hasn't fully propagated to whatever gateways/hubs need to know it, so some route exclusively to the old box (which is broken atm) and others go to the new one (which works well). The ISPs that can't connect are the ones using the first type.
One big flaw in this theory: Why would Nexon do this on a Friday night?

You might want to give your ISP support a call, tell them you can't connect to http://www.nexon.net while your friends on other ISPs can, and have them do what they can on their end (force reroute or w/e). It being a weekend though, most ISPs probably don't have anyone answering the phones who knows anything beyond "reset your modem and restart your computer".

This is one of the biggest FU's from nexon I've ever experienced.
They give their users a problem that they can't even request support for.
Nice nexon! +1

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - Takebacker - 2011-11-12

Thanks Nexon. Screw the rest of you guys.

I can't access the site, or the game. Epic fail, Bell Canada.

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - keturah - 2011-11-12

I called Cox Communications, (In Arizona) they cannot access nexon.net either from their end. Would all you who CAN get to nexons site please post on the forum and log tickets for us, since we are totally blocked out we have no way of even letting nexon know they've screwed us Big Grin Thanks !

Obviously Cox can't, it's not like they have their own privileged internet connection they don't let the clients use. Call again and insist that nexon.net is up and accessible from other ISP's, and they have to check their routing tables or w/e. (Betting the person on the phone will tell you to call Monday to talk to someone more knowledgeable, tho)

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - Hollie - 2011-11-12

I'm from the UK and my ISP is Virgin Media and I can't log in.

Edit: I can play maple using my neighbours BT connection. Smile

To 'prove it's up' for everyone else you can always have your ISP look at the results of:

http://isitup.org/nexon.net

What would ones ISP do about it? The issue is way to widespread across the globe to be a fault on their end, right?

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - PyroKing - 2011-11-12

I can't connect to the website or the game either. When using a webproxy I CAN view the website. When running a tracert things seem to go wrong here:
16 177 ms 177 ms 178 ms NexonNXGames.demarc.cogentco.com [38.104.76.142]
17 * * * Time-out bij opdracht.

Googling that domain shows me there have been issues like this before. What's causing it though is a riddle to me. Hope they fix it soon.

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - SaptaZapta - 2011-11-12

Checked Nexon forums, the problem has been posted there (apparently some people managed to get on via proxy).
Amusing to see people think they've been personally targeted and IP-banned.

Alas, no one from Nexon will even look at the forums until Monday, and the same with tickets.

They're in a better position to determine if it's a partner they're peering with who is down, a gateway in their routing that needs to be avoided, or an actual issue on Nexon's side.

NexonNXGames.demarc.cogentco.com is under control of Nexon, so the issue is on their side. Probably some problems with a routing configuration or something. Apparently they treat connections differently based on your ISP Confused. Ip adress seems to be resolved just fine, so it's no DNS issue.

Forgot to mention: I'm from the Netherlands, ISP Tele2. Friends with ISP Ziggo can play fine.

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - Eos - 2011-11-12

Your point is only as valid as the assumption that that is in fact where the issue is.
