Justin Wrote:Supposedly, the guy who got banned and posts deleted last night stated those items have been around for 6ish months. It was just kept very very private. Can't rollback 6 months.

The hack went public the past 2-3 days ago. That alone is enough of an incentive to RB.
Even if they don't RB, I guarantee 95% of the hacked items are in the MTS anyways, so shutting down the MTS will deal a major blow to the hackers.

YAY nexon finally came back from vacation and is going to try to fix something. Biggrin

Actually the way to search for these items is not by the attack on them, but by the slots.

Any item whose scrolled slots (the +N on the item's title) plus upgrades left > 2 + number of slots this specific item type has,
has been subject to this exploit and the account holding it should be permanently banned.

Thus, a +8 bwg is kosher, but a +8 wg is treif (or +3 with 5 upgrades left, same thing). Note that the proper number of slots is looked up in the database, it doesn't rely on the memory of any programmer.

Unfortunately, I believe 5 hours is way too low for Nexon's DB server to actually perform this search (which must be done on items in inventory, items in storage, and items in MTS). So I don't know what they'll do but it will necessarily leave some (a lot?) of hacked items in-game, and likely ban some people with unusual but legit items.

As for the familiar hack, my guess is that the hack will be blocked but no-one will be banned. If they do ban it will be by the "leveled too fast" rule, with the same unfortunate consequences as when they applied it to find BigFoot-exploiters, way back when.

Spawn hack will not be touched, except possibly as a side-effect of the familiar fix. (As far as I know, spawn hack is done by summoning a monster that kills the entire map. No idea whether that shares code with familiar summons and will be disabled unintentionally when familiars are fixed).

EE-hacked items and their owners won't be touched either. Nor 27/35-att vss and their kin.

The maintenance will go overtime, with 2x and Hot Time rescheduled randomly.

Those are my predictions, anyway.

Nexon is making a great deal of their money from the MTS.

I doubt they would want to shut it down for good, I mean even when it was messed up and got everyone's account's compromised all they did was shut it down for X amount of hours / days to fix the issue...then bring it back up. I agree with your "shutting it down" argument though its just highly unlikely of Nexon to do so.

and about the RB, it wont happen. Nexon hasnt done a RB in a while, I only remember 2 times them doing it (the one for only khaini does not count in my book). All I see them doing is getting rid of all the hacked items they can get their hands on / see, and missing a few and then this happening again later down the road.

Edit : Also I'm positive by Vlad's postings in another thread that 95% of the hacked items are not in the MTS. If what he was saying was true (which likely it is) then they have been doing this for 6 months and I'm sure they have them hidden deep where the naked eye / program cant even see.

That unusual but legit item better not be my staff since I'm very sure it's the only one in the game with it's magic attack out of all the servers. Would explain why somebody wants it for 1m NX; nothing else like it. It'll be like a slap to the face really after all this hard work and being so close to 200(194) Sad I'm just not feeling lucky today so this is all I need

You don't understand.
The hackers had these items long before 2-3 days ago.
You roll back, they still have them. Maybe fewer, maybe a lot fewer, but as long as just one remains, it can and will be duped in large numbers.
Legits will have lost 2-3 days of progress for absolutely nothing.

I agree, which is why I think nothing will be deleted, only fixed, if we're lucky.

I would actually support the "level too fast" rule, because this isn't like bigfoot in the sense that there is actually no possible way to "level too fast" without getting involved, with hackers infesting every map that allows you to train "fast". If there's a legit training method Im missing out on, do enlighten me.

They would make as much or more with the NX item trading system, it is not like the demand for cubes and such would diminish. Not to mention how much harder it gets to buy and sell NX for the sites that deal with that, and we would also eliminate some of the horrible practises that involve paying NX for items outside MTS.
MTS is a bleeding hole and Nexon should close it for good.

Maybe nexon comes to their senses and they patch the dupe like they should have long ago?

Then shut down the MTS! I don't understand why everyone keeps ignoring this fact. You people are only nitpicking at my RB comment and completely ignoring the MTS lockdown.
Also as someone else said, we can just get the NX Trading System in exchange for the abomination that is the MTS.

Unscheduled Server Maintenance - 01.06.2012 - Bomber - 2012-01-06

Nexon needs to understand they have to take out all of the items, or they will never completely stop anything.

And since they know they can't, where will that leave them? And us for that matter? But boy, I hope I am wrong.

Because no-one disagrees with you on the MTS point, do you want everyone to disagree with you on everything?

That depends what they consider too fast.
I got from around 192 to 200 in 2 weeks, averaging around a half billion exp per day without going anywhere near LHC, and trained strictly solo, no hacks, no HS, but taking full advantage of 2x cards and 2x events. I never had problems finding or keeping a map, even during 2x. Nobody likes where I trained apparently, but it was good for mechs.

I didnt ignore it, I agreed with you but lets be real..Nexon is not going to do it.

I dont know how most of the people here still keep hope of Nexon doing something amazing about the hackers, but just to refresh..they havent done squat. Yea of course they have responded in the past, but if they had totally done something way before all this then it wouldnt have gotten to this point. This game is beyond fixing, even if we "get rid of the MTS" or get rid of "X" it will still be the same because Nexon is not going to change, and until they do my opinion will remain the same.

It is not beyond fixing. Nexon just needs to try harder.

The thing Nexon have that could make them alot stronger to these kind of attacks are fundings, fundings that dwarf the income of all petty hackers combined. To get them to use it on this though...

Exactly.
They have all the tools to stop this, but they are just being too lazy. If they just tried harder and did something about things, this game would be much more well off. They really just don't feel like doing things.
And in hime's case, they might not be communicating well, either.

Blame Nexon in Korea. They need to hire better people over here in North America or send some here from North Korea. Can't patch shiz here.
