"I Miss Old Maple" - ShanghaiDizzy - 2011-05-22 Most likely a jab at how Basilers talk about how they miss Old Maple all the time. Which is like 9x% percent of the time plus, the old UI looked to bulky and weird for me. KhainiWest Wrote:Why didn't they just keep CS to just clothes? That's all they needed to do.. Nexon wouldn't make sufficient money to keep the game going. "I Miss Old Maple" - IcyGreenTea - 2011-05-22 Started playing in 2005, when I had real life friends to play with online. That only lasted for about 2 years until last one quit. But one of them comes back now and then. I miss the days when people might stop and help you, thats how I made some of my later friends. When I played recently, I have managed to level a mechanic from lv 1~108 in a bit over a month. I never really spoke to anyone aside from telling them to stop killing when they pass through, or when someone wanted a drop from the map which I do give out generously if it happened before my NPC run. What I noticed is that all the quest I actually bothered to do now are just the ones that give out equips and scrolls, because levelling is just too easy, we used to have to kind of rely on questing to level. "I Miss Old Maple" - Sorien - 2011-05-23 I personally don't miss the "old maple" very much. The only thing I miss was the monster's hp and players' damage scales not being so ridiculous. I mean seriously, back before Big Bang monsters seemed to actually pose some level of a threat if they were around the player's level, and from levels 1-30 monsters would take 1-2 hits, then 2-3 hits from 30-50, 3-4 hits from 40-80, and from then on monsters could take like 5 hits until the player's strength finally peaked halfway through fourth job. With every player with halfway decent equips ripping through every monster before they can even start to retaliate the game is a lot more dull. Oh and considering how monsters rarely deal more than 4000 damage or so, players really shouldn't be hitting an average of 100k damage per second. Which is funny, because I seem to remember Nexon saying that the CS was only going to CONTAIN non-game changing items, aka clothing or other tidbit stuff. It really went downhill when x2 cards hit the CS. LHC kind of fixes it but not really. Sure the monsters take a beating, but they create a whole new ugliness by having such a stupidly low level on the monsters. They should have been 50 levels higher than they are to avoid the total mega drag it is to have one training ground being vastly superior for 90 levels. "I Miss Old Maple" - IPunketOz - 2011-05-23 i miss Bigfoot, i miss when everyone had nearly the same damage range, i miss when people didn't care about your dmg and only cared about buffs like HB, Haste, HS for training! i miss ms before potentials.. when people used to spend time doing ht runs to make mesos n get better equips n not just going to a store buy lot of nx n become stronger than the people who spent hours n hours getting mesos. i miss when the nx rate was 1:1 well idk if it actually was 1:1 but i used to sell it 1:1 rate xD i miss when people only cared if you survive in a boss run and keep attacking without caring of your dmg. i miss when kill a boss like zakum and horntail was a big success i miss when grims were the main training map n then himes, i loved himes i got there to Lv 156 before 4th job came out! the priests mobbing and me standing in the middle of the map spamming pole arm fury i miss when i used to be rank 20 in broa before 4th job came out and the bishops ruined my inspiration cause most of the dark knights couldn't survive @ skeles with berserk on .. i miss when the boss run organizers used to be really organized and email the members the run time 1 week or a few days before the run c: i miss when you used to get a Lvl at Lv 150+ everyone used to smega or spam in bl for the level up cause it was a big success c: too bad this is never gonna happen again .. now everyone levels really fast, people have hacked items, hene hoes r as strong as the people who worked for it for years and everyone is strong enough to solo any boss now, besides pb cht and czak it isn't fun when you solo a boss but it's pointless n boring to do a run with 6+ ppl that will last less than 4 minutes :/ and even if we get good bosses to kill like pinkbean, hackers r gonna kill it and sell all the weapons from that boss in FM and make it pointless for us .. that's all i guess xD "I Miss Old Maple" - Twilight - 2011-05-23 Everything is too easy now and there's hardly anything left that could be considered an accomplishment. For me MS's high point was the NLC releases. They were relatively small additions to the game, but they have made a permanent long lasting impact. Not to mention they were creative as hell content wise. MSEA player here but I guess it's almost the same everywhere, I miss it when the NX:MESO ratio was 14:1 in MSEA, yes, 14kNX for 1 mil of mesos. Everyone was nice, and well...at least, "cc pls" doesn't exist yet. I completely agree with this. I miss getting up at 4 or 5 AM to find the MASS bigfoot spawn. I miss Zak runs with friends and trolling on the bigger guilds in the server because we could kill relatively as fast as they could with less people. I miss selling zakum helmets for profit before everyone else was and making over 20k NX a day from it. I miss having all my friends around and complaining about all our gear and I even miss having crappy gear compared to merchants because it actually took time and effort to get godly gear as compared to the deep pockets it takes to get godly gear now. Basically i miss Maplestory being personal. It's become cold and foreign, because they made it appeal to the masses too much in my opinion. Any random can make an account and make 140+ in a few weeks with enough time to waste. Before Big bang, without connections lots of randoms struggled to make 70, EVER. It's just so frustrating now. "I Miss Old Maple" - Seanny - 2011-05-24 Arrol Wrote:Nexon wouldn't make sufficient money to keep the game going. If wonderking can continue to run as long as it has, on its population. I really believe Maple could have continued on clothes-only without shutting down due to sheer population. but would they only have a quarter of the profit they have now? Yeah, pretty much. "I Miss Old Maple" - LordZet - 2011-06-02 Posts complaining about how 'easy' it is now seem like sad brag attempts. It sounds like some grandpa complaining about how young kids have it too easy. Let me guess, your little brother and sister have it too easy, since you had to walk to school, uphill, both ways, in 120 degree heat while it somehow miraculously snowed 18 inches each day as well, right? You wanna compare how tough we are? Fine... When I first started playing MS back in 1950, I had to actually be in Korea. I fought in the Korean war by day, and played MS by night. Sadly, there was no internet, so I had to hand write Nexon a letter asking them to "Triple Throw Bigfoot please". I would then wait 2-4 weeks for a return certified international mail from Nexon saying "7548, 8212, 9231", my damage to Bigfoot. After 6-8 months of mailing back and forth, I would finally receive a letter from Nexon informing me that BF was dead. A Korean gentleman would then use his slide-rule to calculate the which drops I received. Sadly, I lost my life fortune when I wanted to play an Aran back in 1958- sending millions of letters spamming "Attack" was just too expensive. So yeah, I agree, these young kids today have it too easy. No games should ever evolve That said Old Maple was awesome only for my friends and guild. I miss them, a few came back, but most haven't and won't ever. I've been on since beta, you people crying because maple has changed are cute, imo. Yes, maple really was fun when it took me weeks to level, exploring an area that sucks for training and full of hackers was fun for the first time. You hate LHC because it's a training area? Really? You complain the game isn't an MMORPG anymore, yet you hate partying at LHC? Nostalgiaic players make me sick, more so then anything nexon could do. Maplestory is better now, it's actually a game instead of garbage. Now I don't need to spend all day just to gain a few percent, I can get a few levels. I like that, I like not being dirt poor and waiting for my MP to refill. I like not having noobs begging me to take them someplace. The only reason I never quit MS was my guild and friend who made maple fun. "I Miss Old Maple" - Cattle - 2011-06-02 I dunno if I've already posted here yet, but I honestly do miss the old maple. Especially the monster maps and the towns. The new towns are just eh. It's really not the same without HHG1 (lmao) and the tree fort on the left side of henesys. Bigfoot was also a big part of maple pre-bb. Back then the only thing I'd do was hunt BF and sell bf leech. Now that's gone, so the only thing to do is grind o-O That's not very fun. "I Miss Old Maple" - Moonlapse - 2011-06-02 Henesys seems to have become real empty with Big Bang. I miss going there and interacting with random people. I miss the idea of old maple, but I don't miss the actual game mechanics. "I Miss Old Maple" - TheLoyalPlum - 2011-06-03 Teehee... I spent 2 Hours + downloading and using numerous proxies to create an EMS account... just to train a noob at HHG1.
"I Miss Old Maple" - CrazyNomad - 2011-06-03 Sheep Wrote:[*]Much more complex game. how is the game more complex now? o_o. you can get to lvl 100 in 2 days if you grind right, then just spend $1000 and be strong, then just go to LHC and train to lvl 150 in a week or so, then when you are lvl 150 you can solo every boss of the game(beside PB), I don't see how "more complex" it is now lol. |
