Where the hell are you people getting this monthly fee bullshit from?
My sis has an authenticator, she hasn't paid some monthly fee for it. The only monthly fee she has is the one she pays for playing WoW.

That was his logic.
Maple = free, therefore someone has to pay the monthly fee for the authenticator on the theory that the monthly fee for playing WOW also subsidizes the authenticators. Wikipedia is one of the sources of the 15$ a year price tag.

Couldn't they do something like that as an additional fee of some sort? I mean heck, people pay a ton for item locks and such. I'm not saying everyone would want to have one because they would have to pay for it, but some wouldn't mind paying something for a little added security. I dunno. I just think having something more is better than what's already in place.

How they can/could/should/would depends entirely on the vendor they go with and the licensing agreements they work out.

Taking a few moments of reflection and hopefully clear thinking, I now realize why Authenticators, from a revenue-based standpoint, wouldn't work as well with Nexon as they have with Blizzard.
1) Blizzard gets $15 dollars per month from most people, which also happens to be the cost per year for each authenticator, not to mention having a steady flow of money from quite a few million people to cover licensing costs. This solves the problem of paying for them.
2) Nexon gains most of its revenue at a less-steady pace, be it from NX cards or PayPal charges. Not like Nexon doesn't make enough money from both of these, but Authenticators could potentially take a steady chunk out of yearly profit, between the cost of manufacture and licensing.
This is probably flawed, and feel free to take it as you will, but this is the product of a tired mind.

I think I'd personally pay $20-$30 per year for one of those. Not everyone would do it, but why not give people the option?

Ultimately it's Nexon's responsibility to determine why it's not feasible, not ours to give them excuses.
We do not have sufficient information on either the cost or their operating budget to make any realistic estimations on how feasible it is for them to provide this functionality, but for the third time in this thread let it be pointed out that MSEA has these. Clearly it's not as hard to do, either for the MapleStory infrastructure, or the financial aspect, as some people would like to think it is.
They can easily gather data, come up with projections and estimates and come back to the players to ask threm if they'd still want the feature at what costs they determined would be necessary to subsidized it.

Undoubtedly. I'm just giving a few speculative reasons why NexAM may not have as much success with this compared to Blizzard.

Just as Nexon gives people the option of playing their game for free, they also give the option to purchase additional items to enhance your gaming experience. I think having the option to purchase an authenticator would also fall into the latter category.
