What I don't get is the fact that everyone complained pre-Big Bang how level 200 was so easy to achieve. Now they've made it theoretically "harder" to achieve due to higher monster HP, so everyone is complaining. What the f'uck do you want?

All of this information was available to the community long before Big Bang was released in GMS. That means you've had all of this time to figure things out. If you haven't taken the chance, you don't have the right to complain, at all. If you've taken the chance to figure things out, why are you complaining? You know what's to come...

Seriously... Where's the logic in all of this? None of you guys who are complaining about this make any sense whatsoever.

The leveling just got worse... - SaptaZapta - 2010-12-11

Would it have helped if we did figure it out beforehand?
If we had complained before it actually came, you'd have said, "stop complaining, wait and see, it will be good."

For me, the balance of my skills/damage vs. monster hp vs. monster exp vs. exp to level seems about the same as it was, when all is said and done. Which negates the promise of "leveling is easier", but I accept that as being aimed only at lower levels.

We could not know GMS would remove family and cash shop 2x. I would have been no worse off, and maybe a bit better than pre-BB, if they just left those things alone.

I mostly read how people wanted to be high level for the bossing and whatever reason they tossed out there, that they wanted higher level content, well you HAVE higher level content now, although not in the form of all new mobs it's still high level content, Thanks to the massive ammount of leeching that has happened for who knows how many people and the strong desire to skip much of the pre-BB content in favor of more exp from X mob, many of the now high level players have no clue at all where to properly train, they do not "test the waters" as some people would to find out a good place to train at their level with the strenghts they currently have and are now complaining blindly because they are too stupid for their own good. Just something i have on my mind.

Pre_BB i'm sure lots of mages were getting ....lets see....2X plus family buffs and whatever else gave more exp on skelegons....possibly 200K exp PER CAST of their ultimates, most defenitly training will feel slow for you now since you can't attack 10-15 mobs at once anymore, now it's a matter of can you stand on your own two feet?

ITT: People level to 12X+ on pomegranatety old EXP curve, and then complain when they make that curve easier to complete, leaving them with the short end of the stick.

The leveling just got worse... - KaosStorm - 2010-12-11

Such a relativistic view in some of the post here. I mean, even the title has the guile of outright stating something that, for the most part, is a lie. The leveling might be slower for the high levels, but outright telling the in didn't changed? I remember reading it here time and time again, that BB was about getting people to 120 in the smoothest way possible, something that is true no matter how you see it. I guess this is the old issue of "If it doesn't benefits me, it's worthless"

Also, just to add something up, in a similar discussion I had with Jamie in some random topic, he pointed out that his argument behind all of this was that post-BB 1x training felt slower than pre-BB 4x training. Here's the post:

Jamie_Kurosawa Wrote:Some monsters for me don't give that good of a chunk of EXP either even at 145. Even some of the best monsters I can fight gave me only about 0.03% which isn't any better than Pre-BB when I was training on 4x at Time Temple. Since usually I lose about 0.003% per level up, I'm guessing by about 175 I'll be needing about 17,000 EXP per kill just to get even 0.01%.

So much for balance and high level content...

I never saw the logic in comparing those two tiers of leveling.

The amount of hilarity in this topic is reaching astronomical levels!

The leveling just got worse... - AltCtrlDlt - 2010-12-11

Guys, if none of you have realized this yet, Nexon doesn't WANT you to reach level 200 this quickly. You're the mule on the treadmill, and they're dangling the carrot in front of you. If you hit 200, they're basically out of a player, or should I say source of income. Because, honestly, they [Nexon] can't release content fast enough to please high leveled people. What would you do at level 200? Pink Bean? What about after that? What if you don't like bossing? I can imagine that without a viable motive (IE. Bossing progression, which is nonexistent in this game; or even getting to the next level), you would lose interest in this game.

Honestly, I'm not trying to troll here. If Nexon really wanted you guys to hit level 200 easily, wouldn't they have made it possible already? There is some ulterior motive behind this, I can assure you. And really, Nexon knows that higher-level players are more tolerant. If a lower-leveled person who just starts out the game finds out it takes a long time to level even to 70, they are going to quit. However, if they get said character to level 120 easily, they are going to be much much less likely to quit. Because at that point you've invested a lengthy amount of your time into the game, and possibly even money depending on if you buy NX or not.

And so if you find that it's a larger time-sink after 120, you are going to inevitably complain about it, but that's it. If that's the worst-case scenario, Nexon doesn't care. They really don't. Once you start going on hiatus, and Nexon notices profits going down, then they notice. But until then, complaining really isn't going to help.

Leveling got worse? I went up over 20% just goofing off on Time Temple quests alone, and I haven't spent a single potion yet. That would have been like a 5-10 million mesos investment pre-big bang on 1x experience for a mage. My wallet is seriously enjoying this patch.

ShiKage Wrote:I know I've been saying this in other threads, but damn, if you can't stand the grind in the later levels of the game, then what's the point in playing a game? I mean, all games get harder toward the end. In MapleStory, hard = time.

On my Viper on JMS, I wasn't even hunting monsters my level (in fact, I was just hunting for equipment from level 110 ~ 130ish monsters) and my training speed went up fast as hell. I gained about 70% experience in two days doing nothing involving grinding. It really is faster, but you just have to know where to train and how to train properly. Hell, I don't even have good funds. I don't even have a single piece of potential gear.

All of this. Could not have said it better myself. Quoting both of them so people who ignored them actually read them this time around. Two of the most pragmatic posts in this thread.

Yes, I abuse ad hominems and sarcasm, but I still use logic and have valid points. In my defense, Jamie's posts are 100% self-centric whining devoid of any rational thought.

Everyone here has their own opinions, but not all of us force them down everyone's throat in what? is it three? three threads now. Can someone PLEASE suspend Jamie's new thread rights?

I'd respond to your insults directly, Jamie, but you've proven many times over that you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

By the way, I don't think Herb is actually a Paladin yet since he started a new character and all and leeching is so dead it's decomposing.

Nope, not a paladin, but I am a WK. You can track my progress if you like, my IGN is Palacious.

Agree or not, my points are always logical. Or, a better way to say it, my points always have a clear and understandable internal logic - you may not agree with it, but you're not left mystified as to how I came to such conclusions.

I didnt want to release this secret awesome training spot, but i also cant sit here while people say that 14x training is slow. Go investigate, gimme some feedback.

I have a 144 Dark Knight. I'll try it out. BEST POST IN THREAD HERE.

High levels who face the same/heavier grind vs Lower Lv/Alt hoppers who were spared and forgotten the plight they both once shared.

People joked about how the black mage's evil magic actually made Maplers stronger, but upon seeing this thread. I now realize the Black Mage has succeeded in his true goal.

That was deep.

The leveling just got worse... - Jamie_Kurosawa - 2010-12-11

There was a solution that was viable. NexonAM refused to use it. In fact there are many solutions that are viable.

Let's go through the list shall we?

1. Restore 2x EXP Rep personal buff at minimum. Even 30 minutes every day would be enough to help lessen the grind overall.

2. Put 2x EXP Cards back in the Cash Shop. Raise the price to reflect the new EXP curve such as 5,000 Nx per a 4 hour card, or limit the amount we can purchase in a time frame like a week, but at least give us the option.

3. Readjust the monsters in the highest level areas again to reflect the EXP needed for the players who will be in those areas at the recommended level. There's always room for adjusting things when needed.

4. Un-nerf some bosses but raise the EXP from bosses to make them worth going to. Making bossing worth the effort for anyone. I mean if it's going to chew up a few hundred potions, possibly kill us, and take at least 15 to 30 minutes to accomplish, make them worth going to.

However I did have several Pre-BB questions that never got answered:

1. Why did we get Neo-City which was more favored to lower levels than Neo-Tokyo which was favored for higher levels?

2. Why did we get Kaede Castle at the last possible moment along with Ulu City?

3. Why wasn't Masteria expanded into more for 4th job level players?

4. Nexon said Neo-City 2227 was supposed to be expanded to add more Neo-Tokyo level monsters and bosses, so why hasn't it been expanded past 3 areas with 4 monsters?

Jubei, you're missing another viable solution; Stop complaining about it like it'll do anything. If it doesn't do anything on Nexon's official forums when you do, I don't see how it'll do any better here.

Also, original post question resolved.

1. holy pineapple stop being greedy. I trained to 15x without ever using 2x cards, and for the most part I didn't use rep-2x either. Just a couple times to ease over the bumps (eg. when I died and lost 9%, or when I was in a party with someone on rep)
2. no thanks. Fair for all > fast for lazy pineapplers.
3. has some merit - but is mostly a matter of there not being any mobs greater than 16x. Once those come in, the high levels will be fine.
4. bosses do need major buffs, to compensate for their higher level requirement - since the accuracy formula effectively prevents people tackling bosses early on when they're actually a challenge, the bosses need to be buffed.

As for your pre-BB questions, um, the answer comes down to: Nexon America chose to do it that way.
