Lol I figured someone would say that, but I actually do not play that character anymore. Haven't logged on it in over a month. I play a "weaker" class now. Balancing is over - Dual - 2010-01-07 Rick Wrote:I'm sorry but this is one of the most idiotic things I have heard in this thread. I'm from the server likely to have the most people affected, so this is just like saying the majority doesn't matter. I'm saying that due to your overabundance in strong, powerful, high-leveled characters, people more often that not will want someone stronger rather than someone weaker. But there's also a bunch of times in your server, the same as every other server, where someone WILL take a weaker class because they are friends with the guy and don't care about DPS alone. I know a few people who have been rejected for their class at boss runs, but because I live in a much smaller server, the sample is much smaller. It is pretty much the same % in ALL servers that can possibly do this, but due to your high population, the % of people you know who have been rejected will be higher than any other server, meaning it's obvious that you know lots of people who have been rejected for class alone. Balancing is over - Nikkey - 2010-01-07 This is the damage-boost in percent for each of these characters with max SE. Per attack with the new rings.
Shad1 is Boomerang Step, Shad2 is, uh, Savage Blow. Yeah, I know. Most interesting is the best % increase, which shows the average increased damage. And I don't know Pirates/Arans well enough to calculate their boost. Balancing is over - Dusk - 2010-01-07 Typhoon Wrote:I think that people need to get it into their heads that its not possible to have every class be balanced. There will always be one class that has better damage per second, there will always be one class that is a better mobbing class, there will always be a class that is better at killing bosses, there will always be one class that's more useful for boss support. If you don't like the class you're playing, for god damn sake stop whining about it and go make another class that you think is "better" or more useful. You chose the class you wanted to make and play, there must have been something about it that you liked. Balancing doesn't mean making every class do the same thing. It just means giving each class equal opportunity. There's two reasons people enjoy playing the class they do. One is that they like the style of the class. The other is being proud of the strengths of the class. I'd play a Corsair even if we did less damage than Marksmen. But that doesn't mean I would like being weak. I like the playstyle, but I also like seeing the numbers I can output even with poor equipment. It's okay for one class to be better at mobbing and one class to be better at 1v1, but some classes are better than another at both. Endgame content is also scarce in this game and for the most part poorly designed, so that 1v1 DPS is a significantly better asset than 1v3 DPS or the like. Also, the gaps in power are HUGE in this game. In other games people are impressed by a 5% increase in DPS. In MapleStory we regularly use potions that boost our damage by over 50%, two people of the same level can often have a 20+% difference in power, and certain classes can do twice the damage of others. It's insane. I really don't think any class should be more than 50% more powerful than another in a particular area, unless they expand the support role to be more than just giving a 5 minute buff to everyone else and then standing there looking stupid. Balancing is over - Stereo - 2010-01-07 Can you kill Bigfoot on a Buccaneer? Cause I can't on my Paladin. (I'll be able to with the skill updates though)@ the post above mine, that's why elements are so ridiculous in MS. The difference between my damage on a resistant target to a weak target (with these new updates) could be as much as 100% -> 394%. should I lose 75% of my damage at certain areas? Maybe... but why don't any other classes? Balancing is over - Shidoshi - 2010-01-07 What about mages? Balancing is over - Manu - 2010-01-08 BombsAway Wrote:Did bucc's ever have passive criticals? Because if they didn't then it's not a reasonable request (actually, every post I see seems more like a demand.) Just because it would benefit them doesn't mean it's necessary. I can think of a billion things that would benefit me (including passive crits!) buuut it's ridiculous to expect to get them. There's no reason for this "need" besides selfishness. I think they should add them cause Thunder breakers have them, making them (on a special scenario) better than Buccaneers, which, as far as I can see, doesn't happen with any other cygnus. I dont really care about being the "best" class, I just want to be within a few % of the rest of the classes and not be training 1/3 as fast as other classes. Whoever came up with DPS as a way to compare classes should be shot, it is so misleading and inaccurate. The game plays very differently from the way the DPS tables says it should. Maybe its because I've been in Khaini for over 3 years, and trained up a 18x BM as my first character. I have a good, reliable reputation in Khaini. Atm, Paladins have horrible DPM in terms of bossing ability at say Zakum or HT. But I'm still able to attend HT on my LOLBW Paladin. Why? Because I've persevered with my characters, and made many friends. All this whining about "I can't get into a boss run because I'm an "X" character!" PLEASE don't give me that bull shyt. Make better friends, talk to boss leaders. Its all about how you present yourself, and the things that make you stand out. I'm proud to be a BW Paladin, and my server knows it. I didn't choose to semi-retire my BM for these "balance updates". I made this Paladin because i wanted a break from my BM. Paladin was a class i originally wanted to be. (My FIRST true character I ever made was a lvl 31 page with messed up stats) I had no idea my class would be getting these balance updates. I played my Paladin because I enjoy the class. Yes, this game involves damage. But focusing on a game like this purely on "how much dmg I or someone else can do" is pathetic. It should be about having fun. Yes, maybe your "fun" is getting into boss runs. But there's always something you CAN do to get into them. I hate reading about all this negative and mopey moods people have on Southperry. So many pineappleing whiners nowadays. What ever happened to having pride in your class?? These "new maplers" are too spoiled.... After playing a NL for so long, I'm thinking about playing either a Hero or a Dark Knight just because I always wanted to use Swords and spam attacks, or use a Spear&Polearm. Back in the days before 4th-job, people MADE their classes because they enjoyed the playing-style, this because they only wanted to have fun. These days, all I see on my BL or guild is "I'm gonna make a DEXless NL" or "I'm gonna make the most powerful NL ever, I have 4b to blow off.", yeah ok, you do that. Then when you get bored, you'll waste more Mesos on a better class, and you're just switching because you want MOARDMG instead of figuring out how you can have fun with your own class. Want to know why I made a Hermit/NL? Here's why (and it has nothing to do about damage): All of those people now quit. They were my best friends when I started on Scania. Riptor was the Hermit's name. Starts at 0:56. Yeah, I knew the guy on BL. It was him that I decided to make a Hermit (and in the future, advance to NL), and some time along that, I got sick of my PADK, so I made that because Hermits have SO much more mobility. Balancing is over - CarrionCrow - 2010-01-08 Magatia Wrote:I don't get why you would wanna account the swing Beacuse spear fury is a joke, and polearm crusher is even more pitiful. For spear users this aint so much an issue, but for PaDrKs.... It should be something in the lines of Spear= good grinding, better bossing and Pole= awesome grinding, decent bossing. As it is now, spear do both nicely, while polearmers get shafted for sure on bosses and aint as good mobers as they should be. Easiest fix would doubtlessly be to make polearm crusher forced slashes and spear fury forced stab. Make them 10-15% weaker than their counterparts and you retain the balance and diversity. I don't see how the skill updates would allow you to kill BF with your Paladin. I can kill BF just fine, of course with the erroneous frame boxes. Also, if you didn't see my post in the other thread, elemental advantage is now 1.25 (for Paladins at least), and we only get single elemental weakness boost even in double elemental weakness enemies. I have about 1200 HP less than it would take to tank his touch damage, if Threaten worked percentwise it would be ok. I've tried to kill him without taking touch damage a few times and his missing hitboxes just don't work out well, or the fact that when he casts his magic attack his hitbox grows to twice the original size and hits me anyway. I'm pretty sure we were talking about DPS, which in that case we will always stick to one attacking skill, so the swing tab issue doesn't apply.

This would've made Stun Mastery near useless, so they just turned it into passive critical instead. Balancing is over - IllegallySane - 2010-01-09 Russt Wrote:Umm... yes, this is the case. While that's true and all, T breakers are also totally worthless and serve no point once you get it to 120 like the rest of the dumb Cygnuses. We all know they ruined any point with them when they changed the blessing system anyway But with passive critical they train like they are on crack, but their bossing is not especially good because they cannot surpass the level cap. My point is really, it does not matter if they are better or not, you can't even compare Cygnuses with adventurers beyond 4th job. |
