Lurkers happen. Some people really don't post without actually having something to say. Rolleyes

@Androo: I think we can be fairly confident that sending such information to an @nexon.net address is OK. Wink Now I wouldn't be surprised if the same text appears elsewhere with something like "einquiry@hotmail.com" as the application address... but that's off-topic, eh?

Anyway, yeah, I was actually excited to see them taking first-stage applications this soon. I applied and gave them info on my various accounts, as requested. I do think the questions are designed to test the honesty of the applicants; the "investigation" could determine fairly easily whether they lied about such things as sharing accounts or a history of abuse. (Of course it would be rather stupid to lie about being flagged for abuse, as that's probably the easiest thing for GMs to check, but I'm sure some will.)

Good luck to you all!

He was talking about GM-Tiara.

I think that would be a good thing, she's a GM. Hime would be the one that has all the posts. They work in totally different departments. Tiara is only here to gather and give information for the Maple Guide Program. After it's done, I wouldn't expect her to post on the forums for a while.

She was just emailing Hime, and Hime would post what Tiara had to say. But then a user had to point out that they were "account sharing". *cough*ClawofBeta*cough* So she started to post on her own Forum ID.

Maple Guide Application Process - Chameleonic - 2009-05-02

I dont have enough time as it is to train my char to lv 200, so I wont be applying. Plus I only care about Bera and as I wouldn't be allowed to "work" there the whole thing is pointless to me.Goggleemoticon

Yes, but my point was the same - Why would her count be relevant if all she does is read?

It's not like the GMs post willy-nilly throughout the forums, except for the actual GMs on designated PR/Communication duty.

Wow, you guys are way too worried about multiple accounts. There's no line in the TOS that says "I agree to only register one account and in the event that I register multiple accounts I understand that Nexon may terminate them at their discrition." or anything similar.

And if they didn't want you to have multiple accounts they would have stuck it in there a long time ago. I have some 15+ accounts with the only thing that is different being the account name and e-mail. Same name, DOB, seceret question & answer, zip code, pw, and w/e else they ask for. A simple scan for DOBs with same last name would bring up all my accoutns like a red flag. But it's never happened or if it did they didn't care enough to alert me that I should stop. Rolleyes

I feel sure they want you to list all your accounts for a few reasons.
1) So if you abuse your guide account they can ban them all.
2) So they can match them with up with their records and see if you were honost.
3) So when they are matching they can tell how many other accounts you are using that are not yours.

And the driver's license thing is not suprising. I'm kinda suprised they did not have an 18+ age requirement as well. I would expect they would want guides to sign a non-diclosure agreement and of course anyone under 18 couldn't be held liable. (Not that they plan on giving guides any useful information but they probably don't want the rest of the selection process disclosed etc...)

The ID thing is interesting, it leads me to two things, the NDA that you mentioned, and possible compensation for what is done as a guide. For the NDA, they did mention that they may open Tespia, and Guides may be allowed to be preferred for it. But what if they used the guides as more of as outsourced in-house testers? That would be a good reason for the ID's. Compensation side, we would probably be considered employees, which was the case when I did the focus group, the Compensation part that i had to sign said I was an employee of the company. And it could be to ensure that they employee is a legal resident.

To be honest, the whole application process is a lot like the one the US military branches use to screen out drug abuse, federal offenses, and illegal immigrants. Not that some recruiters won't try to sneak em in anyway (they have quotas they need to meet or else they get in trouble).

Also, I applied. I'd probably police Khaini, Bera, or Demethos if accepted.

I joined this forum on 08-30-2008, and I only had 5 posts prior to this one. I often don't post because it's rare that I have something to say that hasn't already been said by another person. I personally don't like sifting through countless replies that say the same thing, and I'm not one to beat a dead horse, so I just sit back and watch other people do it.
Wink

Anyway, I also applied for the Maple Guide program.

I was very honest with my answers to the "controversial" questions on the application. I believe they are intended to milk the applicant of honesty, rather than to scam the individual. I did play one private server without knowing the true severity of the issue. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I stated this in my application. Had I used common sense and realized that I was committing a crime, I never would have played a private server. Not that it condones my actions, but I didn't play a private server because I dislike the game-play of MapleStory. I really enjoy the challenge you face when climbing to level 200 and whatnot. I only played a private server to scroll with white scrolls, so I could approximate how many white scrolls I would need to scroll perfect equipment on my true MapleStory account, haha. I figure that it could not hurt to explain.

I can understand why they would disregard my application as I played on a private server at one point in time, but if it jeopardizes my account, I will be very, very upset. If accounts are lost because Nexon used the honesty of individuals (who are applying with genuine intention to help fellow MapleStory players) against them, then shame on them.

So much respect would be lost for the company, and I'm sure this wrongdoing would extend much further than just the players who lost something. If Nexon has any sense, they will not scam the applicants. Besides, wouldn't action be taken based solely on an applicant's word? Can Nexon really find out if someone played a private server if it is no longer installed? (I'm actually not sure, so it isn't a rhetorical question.)
Goggleemoticon

And why target the people who are applying to HELP your game, you know?

And that's my input.

I hope it isn't disregarded because it's only my sixth post.

Maple Guide Application Process - Zpyke - 2009-05-02

I wasn't thinking when I tried a private server. It started with wanting to know how my 4th job skills would be, and also only when I couldn't get on the main server.

I've always been a fan of fan-games. Tributes to the original game and author. And I sort of saw them as such and nothing more. It wasn't until I saw things about donations that I started to get suspicious. That and fan-games always put "x is owned and copyrighted by z," etc.

Really, it comes down to me once again having too much trust in people and that they're not trying to steal from others. I saw it as a way to kill boredom. Tongue
