IllegallySane Wrote:Amusingly I did go mid for this game since no one else wanted to. I was against a Sniper, who I kept harassing to no end. He got me once, but by the time the laning phase was over I still had 2 Tangoes and a salve. Also, you wouldn't believe how little they focused on me, which helped me stay alive even when I kept turning the melee into chickens, or shackling runners. They kept going after the PA and Chaos Knight since we had a double carry bottom lane, which by all fairness should have been utterly lost if it wasn't for Warlock and me popping down to help.

Now that I think about it, they probably could have won that game, since their early game was just disgusting, kills all over top and bottom. But then again, I guess that's the power of supports for ya.

I mean they had 3 early to mid-game powerhouses in Axe, Tusk, and Pudge versus 3 carries and two heroes who can be pretty farm-dependent.

anyhow I'm pretty certain that the last winning streak I've been on (3 losses total on page one of my recent games, 2 of them were because of leavers/feeders and one was me being shitty at Enchantress) has put me against significantly better players. It's a nice change. There are still the usual idiots but there are just less of them now, and it's really nice. I finally got a game in High matchmaking (which we won, iirc we actually had a trilane which was nice; I was offlane bounty hunter) which was pretty exciting.
I've actually been playing a ton of -AR, -SD, and -RD in solo MM which is nice but makes for pretty long queue times. So far I've gotten lucky and haven't randomed heroes that I simply can't play or hate like Meepo/Chen or Riki. Hope my luck holds.

IllegallySane Wrote:Finally getting back into my stride. Had a wonderful game where we were initially losing thanks to PA feeding. However, me, Chaos Knight, Spirit Breaker, and Warlock kept turning things around with our hard disables, mini-stuns, and nuking powers. And going 5-man DoTA so hard.

How wonderful it feels to stomp the enemies so hard after we fed them so much in the beginning. Nerf 5-man DoTA. And wards. Lots and lots of observer wards.

I severely question the Anti-Mage's build. Just terrible if he was hoping to carry the team. The worst part for him was we pretty much gave him free farm for at least 15 minutes and he still didn't get enough farm.

Man that last hitting is just pathetic across the board. I like how you have the most farm on your team as Rhasta.

DotA2 - Original Thread - Words - 2013-05-26

I haven't been as lucky as you guys... last 4 or 5 games I've been getting trolls, idiots, feeders and leavers. They were all played this morning, one after the other and the last one just pissed me off. I've been playing Rubick support but it's just hard to do and learn stuff when your team decides to have stupid lanes or just be stupid. Warding is something that I want to do more often so that I learn how to do it properly but there's always a chance that if I don't buy courier myself no one will and I don't know how recommendable is to spend almost all starting gold on just those 2 things. Having plenty regen items makes my mistakes less big deal when I can just heal myself or mana up after harassing too much without success. Also giving up last hits I could get for a carry but later on, when I watch replays, notice they weren't even trying to get them -.-
It's not like I'm the greatest, but feels like I can do better when I get a nice or ok team.

Oh god you're right. Even moreso, my gold/min was the highest that game, with XP/min as 2nd highest. Not sure how to feel about all that. As for last hitting, yeah I have no shame in admitting that I sucked at last hitting. There was too much team fighting going on to remain in lane for too long.

LGD doing drunk drafting.
Welp, i don't like alliance much as a team but they're definitely one of the absolute top teams at the moment.

DotA2 - Original Thread - Words - 2013-05-26

Game 2 was played really well by Alliance.
I'm not a fan of any particular team, I don't really care about them, but I like it when I get to see 2 teams that play really really well doing their best.
Was expecting finals between them to be awesome but it felt sorta one sided.

I think I love Luna... when I'm playing Rubick.

jesus h. plum-destroying christ

ANY OTHER TEAM.

Prophet and Sven essentially did their absolute best to feed the f'uck out of QoP all game long.

Prophet: hey, let me splitpush bot at 50 minutes in and ignore the TP's while having no shadow blade and no hex!
90 seconds later
Prophet: hey it didn't work last time, maybe it'll work this time!
rinse and repeat

Sven: hey there are 3 or 4 people over there and I've been feeding them all game long, let me run into them alone with no communication! And bonus, I'll rush a Vlad's and never get BKB!
rinse and repeat

I mean jesus christ, I know I made mistakes. And I know I should have played better. But how the hell am I supposed to combat a 39/3 QoP? I worked my goddamn ass off. I saved for buyback when I needed to. Pugna and I turtled the game out as long as we could.

I'm just so goddamn pissed right now.

And better yet, this is my third loss in a row. In the last game, I had the pleasure of getting a Bane who started out by complaining endlessly about how his ultimate was getting cancelled by the stuns on the enemy team (notably Earthshaker and Jakiro). He took our suggestion of a BKB as an insult because he apparently never remembers to activate BKB. After he disconnected (claiming he was restarting router) we assumed he was ragequitting and didn't pause for him. It seemed like a reasonable assumption. He apparently wasn't but decided he hated us after that and started intentionally feeding and abusing Nightmare. Fun game.

Game before that had a 23/1 Puck on the enemy team and a 0/11/1 Death Prophet and 2/10/2 Leshrac on ours. Also, I suck at Weaver.

DotA2 - Original Thread - Words - 2013-05-27

Sorry about last night's games Dusk; especially the last one. Weaver one I was doing sort of ok in lane but I was useless the rest of the game.

Star Series VI random draft or something? Na'vi vs QPAD and lineups look like pub line ups... Na'vi playing Sniper O_O

Raul Wrote:*terrible teammates feeding*

My condolences on such a bad game. What sucks is how they let QoP get so fed she was able to carry the team, and Morphing was essentially dead weight on their side. That was a game that simply shouldn't have been lost. If only I knew what what going through the minds of those two.

I'd disagree to some extent. Sure, I might not get many games were people just insult or spam voice chat for no reason but the negative chat is always there: "You messed up, you feed, you didn't kill", "that item choice is stupid", your team fights suck plantain" and all those things that can be synthesized in just "you suck". And it's something that happens every game no matter what: "you won because whatever fed you" "I lost because my team is noob, stupid, they suck plantain ass, whatever". At one point when I was having one of my first matches out of bot games I had this couple of jerks yell at me because I wasn't doing something well, which demotivated me greatly from playing. Even now, I sometimes feel like quitting because of how frustrating it's to try your best just to get flamed by others (when they weren't even doing that great themselves but somehow feel entitled to attack you). And it's something I know reporting has no use for, because I do report people that do this too much and I never get the "Actions have been taken against the person you reported" message.
However, I do like where they are going with this and I hope that they improve it. I'd also like some sort of "campaign" for people to treat new players nicely, or better than what happens now. I'd like other players to be helpful when you're making mistakes, like when Dusk tells me do this or you should've done that, I can learn from that; but when someone tells me that I suck, that I only feed, that I'm being outclassed what is there for me to do other than feel bad about it? The other thing that should be implemented or considered is reports for players who ignore everything you say and contribute nothing to the game: like a game I had recently where I was playing Rubick and I asked a SB to let me mid but he ignored me, I asked him to gank and he ignored me, I asked him to join team fights and he also ignored me, and he ended up loosing lane, our team fights were really bad and it could've been avoided just by him acknowledging that someone else was talking to him.

6.78 is out. 2 new heroes, a lot of cool changes especially to Aghs upgrades, Huskar and Dusa out of -CM due to reworks of Stone Gaze/Berserker's Blood, Tresdin/Xin/Centaur added to -CM. pretty cool patch.

Thoughts on the patch:

 Spoiler

Basically: I love this patch, even if my wall of text doesn't show that. Sorry to have ever doubted you oh you frog of frozen water.

DotA2 - Original Thread - Malthe - 2013-05-30

Nevermind everything i said about huskar, after doing some testing it seems he takes like 5% of the magic burst he's with with at 30% hp.
With ghost scepter this is bumped up to 7% magic damage taken(7 damage per 100 damage in the nuke) and with flaming spears you can still attack whilst being immune to physical damage.

Need to test more and run the actual math behind it, something seems off, but i can see why he might've been removed from CM, holy bonkers he might just have become impossible to burst and with lifesteal near impossible to kill at low hp unless you're critting for lotsadamage.

Them Scepter changes. Have Omniknight/Lich/Silencer/Lion finally became viable high-play supports?

Regardless, that Assault Cuirass and Bloodstone changes. That Necro Scepter. Focus on their carry and ult. GG NO RE.

I don't really feel the Lone Druid changes will stop him from being a top pick that much. His bear can't go YOLO mode as much, but he can still go back to a Maelstrom as his next big item. For the Spirit Bear bounty, I'll be amused though if people were to go after my bear more instead of me, allowing me to live more times just because pub players want that extra gold.

Side-note, Quelling Blade just got BALLER.

Observer Wards starting at one stack is probably going to tick off a lot of metagame players.

DotA2 - Original Thread - Malthe - 2013-05-30

If anything lion has become viable mid.

Also the scepter changes aren't really that amazing, they'll still have to farm 4.2k gold for an item that doesn't do much outside of the ult buff(And the silence ult buff isn't even that great)
Omni might be run mid or off-lane. Not sure, but the scepter changes are good and situationally worth picking up, but not anything that'll turn a hero from not picked to picked everytime.
Now, necro aghs on the other hand is pantsu on head retardedly stronk.
