Today, I've learned that hackers get a very healthy 9 hours of sleep.

So yeah I think its dupers now rather than just server issues.

Yes this is something people will actively talk about in a forum with thousands of daily visitors. A site full of people who barely can understand how their own hacks released in their own forums work can suddenly coordinate to create a lethal server crash that expands to different Nexon games. Totally.

some guy decided to make it public.
google it

 Spoiler

Totally a person doing this for several hours a day.

Never seen anybody grinding before?

And I'm still waiting for your theory on how and why this is happening.

well I'm not going to go to the thread just to get a screen shot on my PC. Heck, I don't even want to convince you, so whatever.

oh look it's green but for how long?

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - Aggravate - 2012-01-26

I find it f'ucking suspicious when channels go down randomly and restart again with an annoying event like this Evolving Ring, but when it's like 2x exp/drop for x amount of hours during the winter break, there's no severe repeated crashes?

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - CrazyNomad - 2012-01-26

I remember when that swifty dude crashed a wow server, a minute later, GM whisp him saying: bye bye and perm banned him.

if only nexon would do this lol.

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - tecul1 - 2012-01-26

I got the "The Concurrent User Has Reached The Max" message. Followed by a crash. And a firewall message. Wonderful.

And yes, that was a joke.

Though I'm keeping an open minded approach, Yes. I can see some people going out of their way to cause the destruction of a few servers.

For the love of god, it's public knowledge on what's happening. Anyone can DDoS if they pay the money and know where to find the resources. It's just illegal, and that's why most people have never risked it. There's not "method" that was made public. Anybody can technically do this.

They don't have to even be at their computer to do what they're doing, it's called a bot.

What the pineapple is with you?
Have you not been able to understand that this is at MAXIMUM a couple hundred people DDoSing?
I will repeat myself from earlier.
It took anonymous several THOUSAND people to take down a small selection of websites designed for minimal viewer traffic.
And you're convinced that a few HUNDRED people are taking down ALL of Nexon's games at the same time, when they're designed for tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people?
I wouldn't call this knowledge. I'd more call this being gullible.
For pineapple's sake, this is far more likely to be Nexon sucking at everything and their servers crashing. The hackers are taking credit for it to boost their reputation. If they could figure out how to DDoS an entire pineappleing set of games with (at maximum) a few hundred people, they wouldn't be using it on NEXON's games. They could probably sell it for tens of thousands of dollars. Take down any game or site with minimal effort.

So who are these people who hate Nexon so much that they would pay and risk criminal charges just to make Nexon's games unplayable for most of the day?

Keep believing what you wanna believe. Do you honestly think their servers would be as pineappleed up as they have been over the last 30 hours cus of a problem on their end, and they weren't even able to find out the reason behind it or completely fix it?

lolojeezshellbooter

if you want the email of one of the kids doing it, i can PM you it.

Have fun believing this is actually Nexon's fault though, or the fault of someone spamming a packet in game to crash all the servers randomly and unexpectedly, and that Nexon hasn't found how to fix it yet. Blush

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - Worthyness - 2012-01-26

so I'm going to assume Nexon didn't fix anything from early this morning/late last night and that crashes are still happening every 10 minutes?

Worthyness Wrote:so I'm going to assume Nexon didn't fix anything from early this morning/late last night and that crashes are still happening every 10 minutes?

Nexon didn't fix a thing.
The crashes mysteriously stopped at 4am pst, and the game remained perfectly stable for 9 hours (except for 2 hours of maintenance Nexon took to "make sure the servers were over their instability" and to extend the ring event). Then all hell broke loose again.
Your guess is apparently as good as anyone else's as to what is causing the crashes, why they stopped, and why they restarted.

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - tecul1 - 2012-01-26

That is totally right.

I've stayed on for 20 minutes though. Something must be wrong.

And there are many weird people out there that would attempt a DDoS, which is probably (but not really exactly) the case. Unless Nexon is incomprehensibly stupid and can't figure out why this is happening, or even take the game down to prevent damage.

It could very well be Nexon's fault or problems out of their control.
That's a hell of a lot more likely than hackers doing it.
They're taking credit for it.
I can honestly believe that Nexon's servers are that shitty, if you can't, then you're naive.
