I wonder if Falco's dial-a helicopter thing will just be a kick or something now.

Also, Captain Falcon has a perma-Gentleman now I guess.

More of a raichu v2, but yeah, pretty much. I don't understand why pokemon has to keep getting a new silly electric mouse most gens.

I think they're just sticking to the trope for the sake of sticking to the trope at this point. Plusle/Minun, Pachirisu, Emolga, Dedenne, so on and so forth. They've done it for 4 generations in a row. -_-

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - shouri - 2014-03-01

Alternatively, they'd run out of ideas REALLY fast if they came up with only new concepts each time. They are reusing some previous concepts (staples of the series) while still making sure they introduce at least a few new ideas each time. Otherwise, they would've hit a wall long before gen 5.

The x shape makes me wonder if it will work or replacemeowth.

I'm moreso hoping we actually have pokemon in the pokeballs, instead of getting one of 3 things: Goldeen, Wobbuffet, or a legendary. Seriously, the pokeballs are fucking horrible in brawl. >_>;

Uh, yeah, but that doesn't mean they have to keep making them electric types. It wouldn't kill them to use a similar design but make it be a different type. Ok, Emolga and Dedenne had secondary types, but that's still pretty crap, as Dedenne learns a whole 2 fairy moves and emolga only learns one flying move (Acrobatics) by leveling as opposed to 9/8 electric moves respectively

They do it with more than just "Pikachu clones". Every generation has a template for certain "slots". You have the Pikachu-clones, the 3-stage early Bug-type clones, the early area Normal types, etc. Tons of Pokemon in each generation are just rehashes of past ones.

You'd just be redirecting the same complaints anyways. It's bound to be: "Oh it's just a grass pikachu. If they were gonna make a grass pokemon couldn't they make it unique and.... [continue complaint here]"

There is at least an unfilled niche for a pure type non evolving, non legendary pokemon in some lines that don't have a representative. As far as I can remember, Ghost, dark (Since absol now mega evolves), fairy, steel, dragon, rock, ground, grass, and flying all lack a pokemon in that category. That's roughly half the types (if I'm remembering rightly).

But no, clearly another electric type with a very similar moveset is much better.

Well then, the dumb electric clones are as good a place as any to start fixing it.

God, we need a new picture to talk about quickly, weekends are terrible.

perma-gentleman?

kayeyearekay Wrote:perma-gentleman?

Captain falcon after melee has always had a triple jab that goes into a flurry of punches like a lot of other characters have.

Cancelling the flurry of punches so you only do the first 3 hits is known as a "Gentleman". Explanation/how to perform

The change in SSB4 that sakurai talks about where every character will have a finisher for their jab made him think that either his rapid jabs will be removed to make this technique automatically performed (extremely unlikely), or his finisher will result in him having a jab combo that is as fast/as effective as the gentleman without having to know how to do anything.

Well anyways what (new or otherwise) characters would people like to see make an appearance (regardless of feasible or not).

feasible (but not happening): Lyn from FE7. I was at least glad to see her as an assist trophy in brawl...

Well, Mii and pac man are all but confirmed (since that pre e3 leak had 4 of the currently revealed newcomers, and no-one was seriously guessing wii fit trainer and villager before they happened), not that I care for those two really.
If we are getting a namco rep, quite likely since they're helping out in development, someone from Tales of (probably lloyd, because nintendo) would have been my first choice.

Fairly sure Shulk (xenoblade) is going to happen, other than that... Metroid could really do with a non samus rep. Given Sakurai made uprising before this, Kid icarus is probably getting a second rep too, whether it's Palutena, Hades or Magnus is another question (probably Palutena though).

I have to wonder just how many more are getting announced before the game releases though, we already know 24 of the characters (only 1 less than melee had included! 2 if you count shiek separately I suppose), which is almost ridiculous.
