Mundo is the other viable solo for top because his regeneration makes for never having to leave lane until after laning is done, and he can last hit with cleaver if he gets kited alot.

Also, starting with boots is stupid, sorry but starting with dorans blade is GREAT, it improves your ability to survive, how long you can lane for and your gold farm.
On carries such at MF and ashe getting 2-3 Doran's items is good, it's close to no gold to you since you should be last-hitting and farming like crazy, normally you should have enough for a BF sword when you return the first time from pure minion farming, champion ganks and kills should net you extra items, but sorry starting with boots is fail, it's been like that since dota.

the dorans blade builds are for people who merely know how to play ranged physical dps and dont necessarily main them. its just safer. but if you know what you can and cant do well, the extra survivability is unnecessary and opens you up to other strategies. i rarely die within the first 10 minutes of a game. after that, the extra survivability is moot because by then you start getting into hard ganks and teamfights -- if youre focused youre dead whether you have 3 dorans blades or a bf sword.

-3 hp pots is about the same amount of regen as 4% lifesteal + 1 pot, it really depends on who is better at dodging harassment
