Attended an award ceremony today for this scholarship I randomly got. An important Physics person at UTSA was sitting at my table but I couldn't introduce myself, partly cause of timing and partly cause of intimidation.
I got a cool medal and everyone clapped for me, felt really nice! It kinda hit me in the heart when in the ceremony they asked all the family to stand for applause for being so supportive and the back bone of all the scholarship recipients (all my family is spread across the states and really doesn't have much to do with me). Not that I don't think my family supports and encourages me, but I definitely feel alone in this journey. Oh well, more power to me.
Still waiting on UT to make a damn decision on my application for Spring.

This "study week" of mine has turned into a flashback of Summer 2013 because I easily went from sleeping at normal times to sleeping when I feel tired and waking up when I want to and replaying games for the nth time. Felt like I was back in my "shell" because I haven't left my house/talked to anyone since Sunday and I've been eating from my box of 20 shin ramyun instant noodles without a care in the world. Luckily I'm scheduled to work tomorrow and school starts back up on Monday so this won't be a repeat of last summer when I'm at home for weeks at a time

Been studying very interesting pieces of malware related to Steam.
This malware is particularly vicious. If you run it, it will steal all of your DotA2, CS:GO, Steam Backpack, and TF2 items and give them to the hacker. Do not run any random executable that tells you it's an official part of Steam.
Other than that, work is going famously:
- I might be going to Moscow for a New Year's celebration. Company's dime.
- My boss gave me an interesting offer to travel all over North and South America and teach people how to reverse engineer and protect themselves from cyberthreats. I turned down the opportunity because, while I like travel, I want to travel on my own terms.
- Good chance I'll be flying out to Cancun soon as well. Company's dime again.
- Should be getting promoted in April of next year.
- Was approached by a recruiter for Sony because they're interested in my skills. I'll probably end up turning down the job.
And that's only the start. It's an exciting time to live, to be sure.

Been making some huge changes in my life.
- Finally had the balls to quit maple
- Tried a new... "herbal" medication to help with Crohn's and my appetite, and boy does it help lmao
- Moved on from my ex after over a year of struggling with that. This was especially difficult since there wasn't really anyone to talk to (except you, ya friggen lurker
) and pretty much no one knew about it. It was basically a "she's the one" type of deal and I couldn't/wouldn't accept that wasn't the case until recently.- Started applying to graduate school
And I turn 20 next week. New decade new me?

OT: There are just some days where I don't understand my ex, and today was one of those days. Was talking to her and we got on the subject of relationships (to an extent), with her current boyfriend and the girl that I've kinda been crushing on hardcore somehow getting involved. At some point, she for some reason thinks that it's relevant to add in the size of her man's... manhood, and that kinda ticked me off a bit. We're at a phase where we can still call ourselves friends (I guess?) and to the point where we can tease each other, but I don't know, it just kinda felt like she was challenging me I guess (although I'm asian so I guess it's not like I'm not used to it). House renting for all parties is settled, and beginning Nov.1 will be moving, and meanwhile, the massive packing up begins. Thankfully, unlike 3 years ago, this one is even more of a downsize and therefore, throwing tons of dead weight away and going clean, going simple, going easy.
Though for the few weeks of moving ahead, it will be head breaking busy.

Was watching NASA's live coverage of Orbital Science's Antares rocket launch as it exploded. Freaked me out a lot more than it should have, partially because I can easily see myself working on missions similar to this at some point in my career.
Thank god it was unmanned.
Unreal though. I could tell something wasn't right very shortly after ignition. Then the explosion after it cleared the water tower.. eurgh. Watching the spacecraft slowly fall back into the ground was probably the worst for me. Disheartening? Devastating? Depressing? Horrifying? I don't know how to describe what I was feeling.
Don't know why it's affecting me so much.

I had a date with the girl I've been talking about on Sunday. It was great, and she wasn't a catfish (shes actually super cute too)! We sat and talked for like 2 and a half hours, and would have lasted longer but we both had plans. I want to take her out to dinner sometime next week, but her schedule is super busy with work and school, so we will have to see.
One thing that bugged me yesterday, was as I was leaving work, I needed to write my time down (our punch system has been down for about a month). My closing manager was the only one there that could let me into the office, but she was helping a customer. After a minute or two, she just tells me to go, and I can write my time in later. I checked today, and the system was updated with my hours from yesterday, but it's 10 minutes short because they just put what my shift was supposed to be :\ Hopefully it will be fixable without an issue. I would have rather waited to write my time in and be sure that it was correct than this mess.
