Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Locked - 2013-05-22 Lozmaster Wrote:... So you never bought heart gold or soul silver?!?? Easily the best pokemon games in the DS gen. ftfy. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Link - 2013-05-22 Locked Wrote:Easily the best pokemon games in the DS gen. Pokemon Yellow version still wins. The only downside to Yellow is that YOU CAN'T GET RAICHU! A thousand sad faces... Though, I absolutely love the graphics of Heart Gold and Soul Silver, plus the Poke Follow feature. That feature needs to stay forever. Heart Gold and Soul Silver are amazing remakes to my second favorite generation. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - ShinkuDragon - 2013-05-22 the remakes were indeed pretty great, but i wouldn't say they were the BESTEST pokemon DS game, platinum is the only reason why i'm saying this, that game was good in all regards. i do want secret bases back and pokefollow though, going around with a masive giratina behind me? yesplz Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Malthe - 2013-05-22 Gen 3 remakes are coming once nintendo see how people react to X&Y. And it will be the most glorious remake of them all. THREE DIMENSIONAL DIVING. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - ShinkuDragon - 2013-05-22 Malthe Wrote:Gen 3 remakes are coming once nintendo see how people react to X&Y. screw diving, 3D BASES 3D CONTESTS 3D PAINTINGS. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Justin - 2013-05-23 Ruby and sapphire remakes would be fucking incredible.
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Link - 2013-05-23 I've never played Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald, so if those were remade, I'd surely try them out. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - SuperNerd - 2013-05-23 While a remake of the Ruby/Sapphire games on the 3DS would probably be pretty cool, I gotta admit... the 3rd Generation was my least favourite. I didn't necessarily hate Ruby/Sapphire, I just... didn't really enjoy them as much. Despite that though, I'd still probably end up getting them if they did happen. I don't even know why it's my least favourite, it just... is. I barely remember anything from the games or the Generation itself, as most of it was just forgettable to me. I also ended up just being indifferent to all the 3rd Generation's Pokemon. I... think the only Pokemon from that Generation that I even remotely liked were: Lunatone, Breloom, and Metagross. That was it. That's not to say that the Generation didn't bring anything important, though. If I recall, the 3rd Generation was the Generation that first brought Natures and Abilities, which are so important and loved these days, weather conditions (which can be good or bad depending on your views or feelings towards competitive weather teams), and it also was the first to introduce a new battle system with Double Battles. But overall: meh. If they chose to remake Ruby and Sapphire for the 3DS, I'd still end up buying it, but if they happened to just not remake them at all, I'd be perfectly alright with that too. I used to play PS/PO regularly on OU or NU. I should really get back into it =( Been meaning to for a while now. Despite a few cool pokemon (Sceptile, Rayquaza, Groudon, Deoxys, Jirachi) the majority were pretty lame. The story wasn't very exciting, the region was annoyingly designed, especially since like half of it was surfing routes, which I personally hated from previous gens. But I think it being so forgettable is the exact reason I want a remake so badly. Bring the 3rd Gen games up to 6th gen standards and it would be an amazing game (for example, the huge amounts of surfing routes wouldn't be so bad if we have faster surfing and faster battles ect) Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Kojo - 2013-05-23 X/Y confirmed to be getting their own E3 panel. Post from serebii: "As has been announced within their E3 schedule, Nintendo is due to have a special Pokémon X & Y Presentation/Q&A at one of the roundtables following their Nintendo Direct presentation. This presentation is to run on June 11th at 6pm Pacific time (9pm Eastern, 2am England) within the E3 halls and will last 90 minutes. It is run by Junichi Masuda and Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president of The Pokémon Company. It is unknown if the content for this Q&A will be broadcast on the internet, but we'll provide details as it comes" Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Phoenix Wright - 2013-05-29 Lozmaster Wrote:... So you never bought heart gold or soul silver?!?? Were the Sinnoh games so bad that you forced yourself to forget about them? Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Lozmaster - 2013-05-29 Phoenix Wright Wrote:Were the Sinnoh games so bad that you forced yourself to forget about them? No. Because they brought some significant changes to pokemon, when Heart Gold/Soul silver really didn't change anything up. Sinnoh games - Most importantly, separated pokemon moves into special./physical on a move by move basis, rather than by type as in all previous games. 106 new pokemon. Online battling (And trading I guess, but I never used that). Being able to double battle team up with a npc (I think this was new in D/P anyway, correct me if it was in a gba game). And then platinum made large improvements to the battle frontier (Which was then copy pasted into HG/SS) HG/SS added... you getting a pokemon to follow you? Yeah. I didn't care at all about that. And I can't think of anything else that HG/SS did to change the way pokemon was played, or distinguish itself from the other games. Oh, it had two fairly barren regions instead of one meaty one, I guess, that's "different". Plus they still didn't fix that HG/SSs wild pokemon STILL ended at about level 40~50. Which was fucking retarded when you're supposed to somehow get from 60ish when you beat the last gym leader in (The most barebones region ever, remake kanto) to 80 to battle red. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - KillerZero - 2013-05-29 idk why people look at me like im crazy when i say this, but my favorite DS gen pokemon game isn't plantinum o...o its pokemon Diamond, 2nd favorite pokemon game would be saphire, followed by fire red. I didn't play through heartgold/soul silver, cause my ds broke, and using emulators just takes the feel out of pokemans. I did emulate black and white 1/2. Worse pokemon games by far. Here hoping X and Y turn out decent Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Phoenix Wright - 2013-05-30 Lozmaster Wrote:No. Because they brought some significant changes to pokemon, when Heart Gold/Soul silver really didn't change anything up. I didn't realize that the mechanics that the respective games added were the only basis for the comparison. The mechanics were great, but the games themselves felt not only bland, but slow and clunky. A very large number of the Pokemon added were unmemorable or had very goofy designs - especially the legendary Pokemon. Lake Guardians, for instance. There's also the issue of the distribution of Pokemon (both wilds and trainer battles), such as the very noticeable lack of fire types (even the fire-type E4 member had mostly non-fires on his team), or the abundance of Shellos/Geodude/Ponyta. Shellos was the new Tentacool. The soundtrack was mediocre as well - very few tunes managed to stand out. Perhaps Mt. Coronet and Cynthia's theme and that's it. Platinum improved on the distribution issue, but not by much. HG/SS, being a remake, wasn't really the place for large-scale innovation - but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. It's a very good example of a remake done right. Vastly improved UI, Voltorb Flip is a cool minigame, significant rebalancing (no more elemental punches out of Goldenrod, Kanto is no longer made of paper, Whitney's Miltank isn't a fat ball of death), better music in most cases (RIP Champion battle theme), lame areas were improved upon (Whirl Islands, Mt. Silver, most gyms, and Ice Path/Dragon's Den to an extent), increased use of the touch screen, as well as gym leader refights - a very easy way to level past 60 before fighting round two of the E4, or Red. Basically the Sinnoh games were bad games with awesome changes to the Pokemon "formula" and HGSS was kind of the exact opposite. If you judge the games almost entirely based on what they changed about the formula (instead of the games themselves) then it's natural that Sinnoh will look like diamonds compared to HGSS. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Razmos - 2013-05-30 I wasn't too fond of Diamond and Pearl either. I think it kinda lost the charm of the earlier games. The region was boring as heck and not memorable in the slightest (literally the only place I remember is the snowy town), the pokemon designs were like 50% just evolutions of past pokemon and had far too similar designs (Magmortar, Abomasnow and the Electrabuzz evolution spring to mind) and another 15% were all legendaries (far too many legendaries, and only a few were cool, like Shaymin and Darkrai) And while the battles and overworld were probably about the same speed as the 3rd gen, the rather crappy 3D sprites made the games feel way more clunky and slow than they were before, which is what made me prefer the HG/SS remakes over Diamond and Pearl, because they improved on the 3D graphics and made it feel more like the earlier games. They included everything that was introduced in Diamond and Pearl while keeping with the feeling of 2nd Gen. which worked. it worked really well. I definitely feel like 5th gen was a success too, the decision to start fresh with a new roster of pokemon was a good idea, and we got some really amazingly designed pokemon. The region wasn't particuarly large or exciting, but it was easier to traverse and the game flowed a lot better. Black 2 and White 2 took this even further and were the most enjoyable pokemon experience I've had since I first got Pokemon Red when I was a kid. In my opinion: 1st Gen > 2nd Gen > 5th Gen > 3rd Gen > 4th Gen Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - KillerZero - 2013-05-30 I really enjoyed pokemon diamond, dont know why people dont like it so much. I really love the whole underground feature, it was such a shame they never brought it back in the other games. The pokemon in 4th gen were most of my favorite, especially my MukuHawk <3 The starters were kick ass, compared to the black and white starters which were just such bad pokemon ._. Out of the 3 ds pokemon games i played, by far diamond and pearl story wins out. Black and white had an intersting story not to say the least, with the whole of do pokemon want to be our partners and stuff. Black and white 2 was just plain bad. I think the fact you couldn't access half the map until you beat the elite four was pretty dumb. That and you couldn't breed pokemon till after the elite four as well. Black and white 2 story just didn't appeal too me as much. Black and white had a far better story than black and white 2. Diamond and pearl kept the berry thing, being able to plant berries and stuff, i dont know why gamefreak decided to make it so you have to do it off the game in black and white/2, just made no sense to in order of my favorites 4th gen>3rd gen>Black and white>2nd gen>1st gen>black and white 2 Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Jamesie - 2013-06-02 If we're picking favorites: Second -> Third -> Fourth -> Fifth -> First By putting fifth second to last, I don't mean to say it was bad. I just mean to say that I didn't enjoy it as much. First gen is last because it's so bad. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - KhainiWest - 2013-06-02 Jamesie Wrote:If we're picking favorites:I'm also in the same position, although I don't consider the first one bad. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Dredragon - 2013-06-02 Imho fourth gen was the worst. I don't remember why I didn't like it, but I just know I don't. It left a bad taste in my mouth after I finished it. One reason may be because the battle system, battles took all day. Gen 2, 3 and 5 are probably my fav, in no real order. |
