So Obelisk, how did Tobi/Madara know that Nagato (as a child before any of this pomegranate went down) was worth his time and had that crazy ability? There seems to be some discrepancies that don't add up. Why would Tobi give Nagato a rinnegan before he was ever trained by Jiraya or ever a person of note/power? Also, what does Nagato being an uzumaki have to do with this? I thought of that more as a side note because he would be from the same clan as Naruto, but I guess that could come into play later.
Also, I keep seeing you say EMS, is that Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan?

Yes EMS is Eternal Mangyokeo, which only comes from someone activating their own Mangyokeo, and then transplanting the eyes of another Mangyokeo eye (all we've seen are taking brother's eyes).
Ehhhhhh. If I recall correctly my subconcious tells me that the Uzumaki clan got wiped out save for Naruto's Mom, who was taking extra special care because she was/was going to become the Jinchuriki and had special Leaf protection.

And Nagato had the Rinnegan. I'm not sure about this part too much but...I don't believe those two were Nagato's parents. I believe Tobi stole Nagato before he was old enough to know what was going on, at the same time he killed off Uzumaki clan, and gave Nagato the Rinnegan and left him at that place.
How could he know Nagato would do a good job?
That's a hard question to answer. I don't think I can answer this well. He gave it to one of the leftover Uzumaki, he had the most excellent potential of any character.
But the problem is that was a HUGE gamble and Tobi was fucking lucky war didn't kill Nagato. Although he probably could have easily just taken the eyes back, provided they weren't damaged.
But considering that Tobi pulled the strings to make Nagato form Akatsuki and stuck around all that time, he probably did keep Nagato under close surveillance.
Hard to prove, just a theory for now until we get more information, but it's very plausible, makes sense, and ties in nice with the story. Theory being:
Well, that is my theory, that he planted Nagato in that village. But I DEFINITELY think he gave Nagato those eyes.

I guess the better question is how did tobi "give" the eyes. I mean it's obvious he didn't like wake up one morning, find a soulless redhead and give him the eyes figuring "oh he's uzamaki!"

I am saying Tobi is the one who killed off the Uzumaki clan/whirlpool village and abducted Nagato at that time when he was young, baby young, so that when he dropped Nagato off at Hanzo's land, Nagato really thought those two people that Leaf ninja killed were his parents.
I mean. I doubt those two people that got killed were Nagato's parents. If they were real Uzumaki's then they wouldn't die so easily.

The chapter said the Uzumaki/Eddy clan was killed off because other villages feared their sealing techniques, but I understand what you were saying.
Just re-read the 4th Hokage vs. Tobi/Nine-Tails fight, reminds me why I love the 4th.

They probably weren't. I'm assuming that Nagato's parents sent him away to some other village when war in their village broke out. Either that or I guess he could have been upducted. It would fit the scenario.

Why not? They weren't ninjas, they shouldn't have been any stronger and weaker than the average citizen. It's easy to forget that most people in naruto aren't ninjas, like, even though the uchiha clan was famous, the majority of them weren't Ninjas. Thats like saying no real uchiha would die easily but basing your opinion of random normal people solely on itachi, sasuke and Madara, when all 3 are supposed to be exceptionally good ninjas.

Idk I don't think it's going to be that difficult, aren't the tail beasts rated like two tailed beasts are equalivent to the one tailed beast x2/? So the ninetails is 9x stronger than the 1x, right?

That means the nine and eigth tails = 17 tails, the others are 2+3+4+5+6+7=27 tails
And that's not counting in the shinobis own strength :l they're still fighting 7 vs 2 and we don't know how crazy tobi is at actually fighting(though i think he's shitty at it for some reason...)

At this point though it's only one tail each, but each one tail is 2x stronger than the last
