Summer Update Plan - Dystopiq - 2015-06-17

Quote:Hello, it’s SY.

Today, we will be talking about the identity of the “Reboot world” which a lot of users have wondered about.

1. Reboot World

In this summer update, the new Reboot world will be born. The Reboot world is a server focusing on the fun of an RPG’s natural growth, collecting items and becoming stronger. This is done through the removal of selling items which significantly affect strength and reducing the reliance on Cash items through mesos.

Wonky: Hello, I’m Wonky.

In the Reboot world, in order to bring back the RPG’s original fun, game play will be significantly changed. Sufficient items and money needed in the growth process will be acquired through regular gameplay. This reduces the burden of keeping track of money, allowing you to relax and enjoy the RPG. In addition, we will be simplifying enhancing equipment in order to reduce the gap between equipment items. We also want to make levelling up more fun and not just killing monsters repeatedly, so we will be making significant changes to monsters to make battling more interesting.

All trading will be blocked in the Reboot world. Currently, in MapleStory, you can buy all the equipment you need through regular trading or the auction house. Although collecting money through trading is an important factor in MMORPGs, we think it is more important to fight against monsters and collect your own equipment and items. By acquiring equipment through your own gameplay instead of through a shop, we think it will make it a more fun RPG.

Mind Reading Robot: Hello, I’m a mind reading robot.

To reduce the burden of Cash in the Reboot world, a new Cash Shop will be utilized. Because this server is designed to give you the items and money you need as you hunt and level up, there is not as much need of various item strengthening systems and thus, related Cash items will not be sold at all or will be available through mesos. Cosmetic items which do not affect game play will be sold for Cash like usual. These changes will reduce the burden of Cash items and allow you to enjoy the game whether or not you spend money on Cash.

Through the implementation of the Reboot world, we want to show our true Maple’s original intentions, and because of various limitations in existing worlds, we will do it with the Reboot world. We will continue to develop Reboot world based on these policies and listen to the opinions of users to make more changes.

Please look forward to it.

Thank you.

Ok Nexon, you got my attention.

Summer Update Plan - Shads - 2015-06-17

Reboot server looks interesting, they'd have to make some major changes to the mobs prices of pots, enhancements etc. but still it has my attention for now. Knowing Nexon however I highly doubt that we'll be getting this in GMS or that they'll change the amount of exp in mobs without changing much else, which could be a high disappointment if they keep end game bosses we have currently.

Summer Update Plan - Alloy - 2015-06-17

...I think they are on to something this time. All of that looking from the NL revamp. Let me explain myself:

For night lords, all buffs now last 200 seconds, instead of having some 180 and some 200, they even thought about consistency on that.
Casting speeds for skills have been reduced. It was an innecessary drag to have.
Sudden raid. Not only it doesn't trigger Damage reflect anymore (Night Lords had nothing to bypass it, unless some stars ricochet to the DR monster), but also the delay was reduced to less than a third of what it was (Before it was more than 3 seconds... DSmile
Showdown, reduced exp and drop from 30% to 10%. It makes sense towards the end of the game... And to what they mentioned in the notes.
Bleeding toxin... The DoT was changed from 190% to an amazing 1000%. Makes sense, because before, it was just an extra line for 30 seconds and that's that. Now you see the damage add up, and you have to make sure to hit again often enough to keep that damage, and not only that, ricochet stars trigger it too, so it can be an interesting mechanic even for training, if they make mobs resist more than one hit.
Frailty Curse... OH BOY THIS IS SWEET. They removed cast delay completely. Now you can deploy it without even stopping. It was the only bad aspect of this skill, as it lasts very little. Now you have to coordinate to jump back there, deploy and get out fast.

With all this I can see very good stuff:
-They pay attention to detail now. "Thing not good enough. Add damage. DURRRR" is no longer the first measure to take. Even the subtle things like "why are there buffs that last 180 seconds and others 200? Or why does the poison skill do less poison damage than the passive?
-They pay attention to actual gameplay now. It's like they SERIOUSLY played the game! The Frailty curse one makes it seem like it, because it's a detail beyond stats. It was an annoyance if you played as a Night Lord and wanted to use it.
-They are focusing on remaking how stats work. I'm mostly sure that some nerfed stuff will come back with the hyper stats. I bet there'll be one for extra exp gained, to make up for the showdown nerf. Or cooldown reduction, and the likes. Maybe some exclusive to a class, maybe not. But Consider that these stats are what potential equipment grants... What happens if you grant potential bonuses on level ups? You even the playground with equipment, and potential looses its OPness... That's a great first step to fixing this mess of a game leveling curve.

And if you take into consideration these, I wouldn't be surprised if they remade the link skill system so every character has both his own link skill, and also the benefits of the link skills of all the other characters in your world/account.

The new 18-person raid boss, Urs, in comparison to other Maple monsters!

Summer Update Plan - Arrol - 2015-06-19

He seems soloable.

Summer Update Plan - Ironical - 2015-06-19

It also seems to be using damage compensation system, which allows low-damage maplers to be useful in a raid.

Summer Update Plan - Kirov - 2015-06-19

This Summer update seems pretty good actually. I've gone from no interest to being pretty interested. This new skeletal system sounds like it could be quite refreshing for gameplay. If (and that is a huge if) the reboot server is done right it could be great too. Hell even the new class which i am totally burnt out on sounds somewhat appealing.

Summer Update Plan - SaptaZapta - 2015-06-19

I'm of two minds about the skeletal system. On the one hand they say it will reduce load and lag because of fewer full-sized sprites having to be stored and displayed. On the other hand, it seems more computationally intensive. I wonder what kind of cpu/gpu will be required for it.

Summer Update Plan - TheBlackMage - 2015-06-20

I tested the new battle stat system at normal magnus, and it's pretty swell lol, lumi life 80% ak.
ON ANOTHER NOTE pineapple YOU NEXON, SHINING REDEMPTION DOESN'T EVEN HEAL YOU THERE ANYMORE AND THERE'S 5 SEC CD wtp??? WHY YOU NERF LUMI YOU pineappleS

Summer Update Plan - Ironical - 2015-06-24

Not quite related to summer update, but here is the thing:

Max's blog Wrote:In other news, a new law has been passed in Korea requiring all companies to disclose the probabilities of gambling-type items, and that applies to MapleStory as well! On June 30, they will be releasing the probabilities of their items.

So we’ll finally know how likely it is to get items from things like Philosopher’s Books (and other items like that)! I’m not sure if this will include Miracle Cubes and their chances to upgrade/get certain lines, but hopefully it does.

Good for them.

Too bad the odds are different for GMS, and NexonNA will never ever release them. Would have been interesting to see, for example, the true content and probabilities for the Marvel Machine coming up.

Really? Are you talking about that "Fourth tier" thing, or all of the tiers? for potential.
Any other thing that might be different?

TheBlackMage Wrote:Really? Are you talking about that "Fourth tier" thing, or all of the tiers? for potential.

Everything.
The contents of Gachapon and other random-reward mechanisms are definitely different.
The chances of various cubes to rank up, or to give certain lines, can be different. (For proof: at one point we had an announcement from Nexon that the chances of rank up have been raised across the board. This was not due to some patch from KMS reaching us).
The drop table (items and their chances of dropping) are also different, although I'm not sure the Korean laws require those to be revealed.

Summer Update Plan - Marksman Bryan - 2015-06-24

It depends on how the exact law is worded. Nexon will be swimming for any and all loopholes to not have to show probabilities.

Summer Update Plan - byakugan - 2015-06-24

Since NexAm doesn't really have a dev team, isn't it possible that Korean probabilities = GMS probabilities?

Summer Update Plan - SaptaZapta - 2015-06-25

byakugan Wrote:Since NexAm doesn't really have a dev team, isn't it possible that Korean probabilities = GMS probabilities?

They do have a dev team. It's physically in Korea but it's dedicated to GMS. Some things they definitely do are handling the cash shop (we have different items and different prices), Gachapon (we have different items), Marvel Machine (does KMS even have it?), etc.
