I really hope they include a grass starter.

Definitely going to be playing Greninja a ton. Reminds me of Sheik/Lucario moveset on Pikachu.

Also, they managed to have the 3DS version play at 60fps with 3D turned on. Gives me hope that the next Pokemon will run smoother than XY.

My Smash Bros hype was flatlining but that presentation was pretty god damn slick definitely stoked the fire on my hype train.

Launching separately probably makes sense since as people mentioned it gives them more time for the Wii U version which will no doubt have more content. It also eliminates a dilemma some people might have had about which version to buy, releasing 6 months apart will probably make a lot more people buy both. Christmas period is a big selling time too. Maybe we will get a Special Edition Wii U bundle.

I'm liking the look of the changes they have made to the various old characters and the new Final Destination stage looks pretty sweet. I really like that they have separated all the transforming characters yet that does mean they take up more room on an apparently limited roster. It might have been nice to see a few other franchises get playable characters. But I am still for the change.

Never was a huge fan of Charizard in Brawl but maybe his mega evolution will make it a bit more interesting and hopefully he will have a better move set. Greninja just looks too good though, loved when it got hit and used substitute.

Monster Hunter 4 was the first game I saw that was able to pull off >30FPS while 3D is on with a full scale game going on. I feel like some developer(s) found some niche that fixed the problems developers were having with the 3D. Considering that Monster Hunter 3U couldn't play the game at like 10FPS with the 3D on...something changed, and I'm happy for it.

Happy to see that another game is getting working 3D while playing the game. I feel like it was one of the largest walls for the 3DS. No game could use its special feature usefully.

Maybe it was just me, but when they were showing it running in 60 with the trophy assists at 30, i couldn't tell the difference lol.

Me neither Tongue
Perhaps it's more noticable in-game, especially with the 3D on.

In my experience, the difference between 30FPS and 60FPS is significantly less than when comparing 30FPS and anything lower.

Basically, the way I see it, at between 30FPS and 60FPS it gets smoother....but at 29FPS and lower it gets choppy. I know, choppy vs smooth is basically the negative vs positive of the same thing...but when I say that something is lower than 60FPS I say it's less smooth, but when it's under 30FPS it gets choppy.

A jumpy frame rate is a bigger problem than 30fps vs 60fps.

Unless it's a speed based game like F-zero or the sonic boost trilogy, where you're expecting the background to change significantly over even short time peroids, I don't care too much, as long as it's consistently at 30fps/60fps/whatever

It's nearly e3 time again! I don't know if what's different about a "Nintendo Digital Event" and a "Nintendo Direct" but we will presumably see in a little over a week!

Ok so Iwata's claims that a console can be saved by a couple games seem to be true. Mario Kart is definitely doing great breathing some life into the Wii U and Smash bros is definitely gonna do more than that. Now all that Nintendo's got to do is announce a couple awesome games during the E3 to keep the playerbase interested (Heroes of Hyrule, X and Bayoneta seem to be all there is).. I know many will be like "heck no" but I think announcing a new Super Mario Galaxy game for the Wii U would be the cherry on top to put the Wii U back on the competition (and a Majora's Mask remake for the love of god Tongue)

Kirby Air Ride 2 please.

If they don't release a game called "Super Mario Universe" on the Wii U then it'll be a giant blunder.

Nintendo Direct thread:(Japan only?)3DS 3rd party direct 8PMJST/NoonUK/7amEST 11thJul - Dudewitbow - 2014-06-03

knowing nintendo, they will most likely have a secret game up their sleeves waiting to be revealed at E3.

its totally going to be pokemon snap 2

Better be a Metroid 2D/2.5D game.

But oh wait, they gave up on Metroid a while ago...considering they didn't even care about its anniversary but shat bricks for Zelda's and Mario's.

Wasn't there a leaked picture of the next Metroid game?

There's "leaked" pictures all the time. Doesn't prove or disprove anything, really, unless they get confirmed by the developer/publisher.

Plus the initial shots of Other M made it look like it could have been 2.5D but it wasn't.

I'd much rather a 3rd person Metroid game than a 2D one. Not only most of whats come out on the Wii U is 2D or 2.5D but also seems like a waste of the franchise since Metroid seems like the only nintengo franchise that can be adapted and compete with huge games like Mass Effect Assasins Creed and the like.

There's honestly no reason they can't do both. I personally prefer 2D Metroid games over 3D ones, especially since Konami has fu'cked up with Metroidvanias so badly. The genre is pretty much dead except for random Indie developers now.

They could easily do a combo similar to Fusion + Prime if they wanted to. They just don't care about Metroid enough to do it. It was obviously successful to some degree considering they followed it up with MZM + Prime 2 (although those releases were a tad further apart, they wouldn't have made both in the same year if it didn't succeed the first time).
