I'm sure fangblade was much, much closer to 200 than 140. 18x-19x sounds right to me. My bad, I was getting it messed with 3rd job. I now remember i was like "Damn, 3rd job just came out, he must be like 'pineapple this pomegranate' already having to wait who knows how many years for 4th job to come out". I was 148 when 4th came out and I too was pretty lazy. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Punch - 2013-06-24 Aside from the fact that the original Top 20 GMS deserve to keep their rank. They're all adventurers. It's a shame the first Lvl 250 will probably be a non-Adventurer. Which sucks. I just hope it's an Explorer. Or atleast a Dual Blade/Cannoneer FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Moonlapse - 2013-06-24 Percy Bysshe Shelley Wrote:'And on the pedestal these words appear -- FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Liteness - 2013-06-24 who cares about rankings now, hackers are gonna be #1 first lol already saw some lvl 220s botting it up FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Zerard - 2013-06-24 People should take a good, hard look at the rankings page and consider why it's down for maintenance. We were quite behind though due to the fact that we couldn't effectively train at Grims, and later, Himes with the other classes. Gobies were our godsend though. I even recall being slightly humbled by having the #1 bowman at the time, who was a 15X Ranger, inviting me to a Goby party since he needed a second attacker. I remember NinjaGaru was the highest lvl in Scania when 4th job hit, and he was only 121, At best FangBlade must have been 140. I think someone in the thread already corrected me and said he was 194 or 195 when 4th came out. Hell, I was like 14x when 4th came out. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - maplefreak26 - 2013-06-24 Fyi, Fangblade is now #1139. http://maplestory.nexon.net/rankings/overall-ranking/legendary?pageIndex=1&character_name=fangblade&search=true (Rankings partially work still) FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Proxied - 2013-06-24 Liteness Wrote:who cares about rankings now, hackers are gonna be #1 first lol already saw some lvl 220s botting it up 220s?? Or Ghandi, or Bob Marley, or Malcolm X or practically anyone in history that had some big achievement in their life, its like they care more about their achievement than they did. The fact that any player that was playing during that time knows the name already will remember it. I doubt newer players care. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Words - 2013-06-24 iAmFear Wrote:I remember Skeles being better than Himes, and also Himes being out before Skeles. Anyway, it used to require 2,121,276,324 EXP, yeah?, to get from 199 to 200. Skelosaurus gave 4,750 EXP, though I don't even remember what it's called anymore, I want to say Peak of the Big Nest, but I'm pretty sure that's the map after, but the map we used to train in wasn't pure spawn, but assuming you were killing in a pure spawn map, you'd have to kill 446,585 Skeles in order to reach 200. With the EXP table we have from 200 to 250, assuming you're killing Golems solo, at level 229, it takes 445,546 Golems to get to 230, and then it just goes up from there, capping at 2,544,119 Golems to get from 249-250 (assuming there's no EXP penalty). I can relate to what you say, since it's the way sports and e-sports in general work. Best players/team of the season get their spot right at the top of the rank. But that's a concept I cannot see fitting in a game like maplestory or any mmorpg that doesn't have some sort of big deal pvp, like WoW for example. Leveling is something you do once (at least per character) and you deserve the same spot in the ranks for getting there that one time. PvP is something that goes on and on and on and on in games like WoW, so it makes sense to have rankings (ladder). What is there to work on once you've reached limit? Maplestory's ranking"measures" levels, so once you reach the limit there's nothing else to work really hard for. I don't know if I'm being clear, but I sure hope so. I don't even know why I pineappleed your post. Yeah, you're right, eventually the comparison between the ranking systems, of MMORPGs vs others, break down, pretty much for the reasons you mentioned. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Arrol - 2013-06-24 Damn, I'm #204206. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Derosis - 2013-06-25 I think anyone that got above 150 before EXPlosion should recieve a round of applause. Especially the archers pre-Leafre. You guys deserve a big one. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - Tristan - 2013-06-26 I personally don't really care what happens to the ranking systems, but I definitely feel for all the players who had those really high up spots. I'm sure some of us can remember as a kid looking up higher level characters on YouTube and the rankings and envying them. And maybe even stalking them. To those of us around at the time, I'm sure we can understand how meaningful your level truly was back then. As a few have said above, I'm sure newer players couldn't give a crap but those of us who have been around since the beginning definitely understand the importance. Hell, my highest level before Big Bang was 59 and I can feel for those who were at the top. If I feel this way I can't imagine how they feel. FangBlade No Longer Number 1 - MetaSeraphim - 2013-06-26 I care about the rankings and then again I don't care about the rankings. I mean, anyone who did some noteworthy thing will always have the memory in their mind, and anyone who was a friend or knew that person will also remember so there is really no need to save rankings for future gens and such in my mind. I knew clicking on this thread would make me feel slightly worse, lol. Locked; & Killed; pretty much summed it up ![]() Like others have mentioned I really hope there is some sort of separate rank freeze. By the looks of things there wont be one but fingers crossed there will be something to acknowledge pre-unleashed 200's and/or top ranked. I know it's just a game but honestly I think maybe some people would feel/see it differently if they were one of the people that were 'high ranked' in some way. I am definitely not as active as I was before and sure don't plan on it but it's very sad for something like this to be simply pushed to the side. Even though I have become somewhat distant from this game, as one of the people that were up there it was something I was proud of. I've made plenty of characters over the years and my Bishop was at the bottom of my list of fav classes to play but I still continued to log on it because it was something I was attached to and somewhat proud of. Even though I don't like what this game has turned out to be, like Danny said... it meant something to me. Oh well, what can you do now. All that's left are memories. Good luck to everyone else, don't let them milk you
