What would you ask a GM? - Nion - 2012-12-10 Some of the responses makes me feel sad on the inside but at least the person answered honestly I hope. What would you ask a GM? - maplefreak26 - 2012-12-10 I'm not surprised at all. What would you ask a GM? - yewjrn - 2012-12-10 Although most of the answers are expected, it somehow feels sad to have it confirmed. At least the ex-GM answered honestly. What would you ask a GM? - Mandalay - 2012-12-10 Annual salary of ~$21K? Dang... Q&A' Wrote:...because our priority was players who spent hundreds of dollars per month. Q&A' Wrote:...players who spend less NX. I wonder what the cut-off amount is... What would you ask a GM? - ResistGreen - 2012-12-10 Nexon loves money. Then again, money makes the world go round. What would you ask a GM? - Sephie - 2012-12-10 Thus, continuing the awareness that most of the evils come from Nexon Korea and not necessarily NexonAM. Though, that guy sounded really spiteful and I'm pretty sure that influenced some of his answers... though they seem to be legitimate nonetheless :S. Also, it kinda gives some light to why MTSnowy is still billing banned and why I'm not anymore... I charged lots and lots (through PayPal) while Snowy has claimed to have never used PayPal to buy NX at all, using solely cards. This also gives another interesting point: Nexon tries their hardest for you to buy NX through cards rather than PayPal because then there is no charge back risk. Thus, if you have a problem, it is no longer their obligation or intention to help you because you can't do anything to them to make them care. So, to insure safety of your account, you will have to make Nexon care... and the only way for that to happen is $$$$$$$$$, or rather, threaten a loss of $$$$$$$$$$. - That's the harshest way of looking at it... I don't envy anyone who works at NexonAM: it sounds like a crapsack place to work. Not because of the people there: I'm sure Hime, Girasol, etc etc are all wonderful people and the current president of NexonAM seemed really awesome at that one get-together beach party event..... ...but answering to corporate in Korea seems like a hair pulling experience. What would you ask a GM? - SaptaZapta - 2012-12-10 former GM? Wrote:That, and anyone who used Paypal to pay for NX was basically "off limits" for banning because of Paypal's dispute methods. If we banned them, most players could alert Paypal and request a refund, and then Nexon would lose that money. Money was more important than banning hackers. Going to have to call BS on that one. I know two people who got banned because she was selling NX by Paypal and he bought from her. If she were to ask Paypal for a refund of all the NX she had charged for all her buyers, Nexon would have been out of a lot of money. They still banned her. This was over 2 years ago, so under the same management this ex-GM worked for. What would you ask a GM? - Penngguin - 2012-12-10 Never knew Paypal had such power over a company. THANKS FOR FORCING ME TO REPLY. Will edit this post when I get to read it. Okay, now that I read it I want to say that wow, that guy sounds antagonistic as hell. I also don't know if I can believe his story about Paypal users being off-limit, the company is big enough that a $20-100 dollar dispute shouldn't even be an issue. It just doesn't make sense. What would you ask a GM? - WizPhil - 2012-12-10 Time to read the questions and answers.. Now that I've read it.. Huh. Seems like Nexon has two GMs that actually are in-game and ban people. Oh and they work from 9~6. Lovely. And that was a couple years ago.. probably hasn't changed (excluding the GMs that smile in Henesys and Leafre). What would you ask a GM? - Hripsime - 2012-12-10 I will post my thoughts after I read. edit after reading: Thank you for this interesting read. It's sad to read, but I can't say I didn't expect the answers that were given. Especially the part about tickets getting answered faster if you spend more NX, I started noticing that happening when my NX spending increased. And now? My tickets are answered in less than a day, usually. This makes me wonder if the NX Compensation they give for being hacked is to try to get the player to accept so they don't have to turn to Nexon Korea to track down the items and return them (thus making the process that much more harder and time-consuming). It depends on the kind of ban, what ticket she submitted, the ticketing situation back then, how much she charged through PayPal, if her PayPal had been legitimate, if she could actually chargeback that money (90 day window), which GM was in charge (you never know if they got a huge flack for that), and what was the priority situation at the time (hacking rampant, broken game, etc etc). And I'm not sure how you can sell NX with credit since Golden Snail didn't exist back then... He could be saying BS though... he sounds really grumpy and could be exaggerating the details... and then again, there could be a huge procedure for this to happen that he didn't list. My thoughts exactly... the guy sounds very spiteful. Though, I think there's more to it than he says but the PayPal thing does hold some truth. Penngguin Wrote:Never knew Paypal had such power over a company. PayPal protects the buyer in almost all cases and the buyer is given benefit of the doubt in almost any dispute. Buying with PayPal harbors almost no risk because of that safety net but selling on PayPal is a kind of nightmare... at least, through my experiences :S. Although what that exGM said about "off limits" players may not be true... it is true that if you get banned, you are allowed to chargeback all the NX you charged through PayPal in the last 90 Days. Digital goods transactions are really slippery on PayPal. What would you ask a GM? - MorbidMagus - 2012-12-10 Thanks Zelkova, and send our gratitude to the GM as well. He said Paypal users were "off limits". No "depending on" anything, no "huge procedure". As for how it was done, she was charging their accounts with her Paypal. Yes, people gave her their passwords. What would you ask a GM? - Sephie - 2012-12-10 SaptaZapta Wrote:He said Paypal users were "off limits". No "depending on" anything, no "huge procedure". Yeah... I'm not believing every detail of what he says. Like a few have mentioned, he sounds antagonistic and spiteful... the entire thing is pretty colorful. There may have been more to it than he said is what I'm saying. Also, people have been banned when they charged through PayPal... but people most often get right back. What he said that "people who charge NX are given priority to those who don't" is very much true. What would you ask a GM? - FangelXIII - 2012-12-10 Wow, that paypal answer is...kind of the thing you'd assume when you think of the worst of Nexon. Didn't expect it to be true. What would you ask a GM? - Death - 2012-12-10 I'll edit this later with a good reply. Just curious atm. What would you ask a GM? - CrazyForDex - 2012-12-10 Wow not this pomegranate again. I don't think his responses were harsh, just honest. I already knew Nexon was run by a bunch of money hungry pricks, it was always fairly obvious. However, it is good to see that there are GMs, they actually care about the players, and that they acknowledge that some of Nexon's protocols are flawed. Too bad it seems that they cannot do anything to change those problems. Thanks for doing this Zelkova. |
