Chaos: Age of Battle - maplefreak26 - 2011-07-17

I realized we all went offtopic.

Anyway, I can already smell the funky hacks that will appear in this maintenance.

Chaos: Age of Battle - Viaje - 2011-07-17

Combattente Wrote:Since when is a company's income directly proportional to their quality? I said they are not a bad company OVERALL, not that they are doing well financially.
Quality of what? Employment life?
Because then I'm forced to ask what does make Squenix "(not) a bad company at all).
Of course, this is getting rather far from the topic at hand.

Combattente Wrote:Nexon America's just the example which proves that it isn't, since they've never been a particularly good company at all, yet, as your same link states, they've been doing pretty good financially in the first quarter of the year. If I suppose they might be having financial issues now it's just because they're doing WORSE than usual.
I'm saying that exploits in the game have no substantial negative impact on their bottom line.
You have yet to provide evidence to the contrary.

CommanderJinn Wrote:Because some of those jobs are pretty important. I mean sure, they could have a few people in those positions, with the exception of the Software Development and Technology Director (I'm pretty sure that's a one man job), but I highly doubt that they're not in trouble if they're looking for System Engineers, Software Engineers, Security Engineers, and Database Admins. The fact they're looking in the first place for some pretty high profile jobs just means they're understaffed.
Oh. Looks like someone did, in fact, not read pomegranate.
I was going to go opening-by-opening and point out exactly why this is nonsense, but it's not really worth the effort.

Bottom line is that your personal, unexperienced feelings do not dictate fact. Several of the positions you listed are indeed multi-man jobs. Seeing as the company is ever expanding, it's not crazy that they would need more employees to keep up with the growth.

Of course, the biggest assumption you're making, the one that totally invalidates your position, is that none of the jobs listed are attached to a game.
Do you think the staff responsible for Maplestory's upkeep is the same as the one for Dungeon Fighter or any of their other games?
Should we forget that Nexon is continually releasing new games and, in fact, has a huge one (Dragon's Nest) going into beta in just a couple weeks?

It is not odd for a company that makes millions of dollars a year to have big positions open.
It's also not odd for a gaming company to have people leave because of the stressful environment (seeing as I personally know someone who recently quit his job at Blizzard).

Speaking of Blizzard...
OH pomegranateAKE! BLIZZARD IS GOING UNDER! THEY DON'T HAVE A DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL PLANNING!

ShanghaiDizzy Wrote:Really? I thought they made a bit more than that. Waw, no wonder nobody patrols this game.
Someone has never worked a day in her life, clearly.
7.25 to patrol a game is a pretty great deal.

What part of "I suppose" isn't clear to you?

Also, I could say the same to you.

Viaje Wrote:Quality of what? Employment life?

Quality of customer support, game management, communication with players, and much more.

Since you seem to want solid evidence so badly, here it is. You know, they don't give an A+ to anyone.

That, plus my inability to find a decent amount of bad reviews about the company, is enough proof that yeah, they are a good company. Now let's go back on topic once and for all, shall we?

Viaje Wrote:Speaking of Blizzard...

Maybe it's the fact that Blizzard doesn't use microtransactions. They just handle a monthly fee and that's all. Compared to thousands of little purchases that have to be controlled, monitored to prevent abuse, exploits, and even the MTS lately.

Believe it or not, two different companies, two different needs.

You really need to get rid of that obnoxious attitude of yours and stop with the assumptions. All you're doing is further putting yourself into a state where you refuse to comprehend others and others refuse to acknowledge anything you say is solid.

Chaos: Age of Battle - Snor - 2011-07-17

I really love how every thread about a game update regarding MAPLESTORY goes offtopic here. I think the administrators should infract more instead of warning.

Either way, I'm really curious about how the PvP is going to work out. It'd be hilarious of some teleport hacker would join and kills everyone instantly.

Chaos: Age of Battle - White - 2011-07-17

Lol @ those pg hackers teleporting all over PvP appearing next to people and killing them. Hope that's not the case, guess we'll see. I'm debating whether I should even bother participating at first since we all KNOW there will be hacks.

Combattente Wrote:What part of "I suppose" isn't clear to you?

What part of "I don't give a pomegranate for what you suppose because I find facts much more interesting" isn't clear to you?

And you could say the same, but you'd be wrong. I have shown that Nexon's profits are ever increasing despite their constantly poor customer service and game stability.

Combattente Wrote:Since you seem to want solid evidence so badly, here it is. You know, they don't give an A+ to anyone.
Nope. Only to those who pay for such a rating.

Are you gonna come over here and kick my ass if I don't?

Talking negatively about me isn't the same as refuting my claim that minimum wage to monitor a game is a pretty good deal. There are plenty of people out there getting minimum wage while having to work in shittier environments.

White Wrote:Lol @ those pg hackers teleporting all over PvP appearing next to people and killing them. Hope that's not the case, guess we'll see. I'm debating whether I should even bother participating at first since we all KNOW there will be hacks.
I'm in a bit of denial because I really enjoyed PvP in Tespia.

But, yeah. I expect that the Teleport hack that I've seen people dominate LHC with to fully appear and wreck PvP.
What's even more fun is the fact that it stuns! So I look forward to being stunned, vacced to a corner, and then Teleported on until I die.

Though I'll say that I will actually be trying to play as much as possible before hacks take over.

Viaje Wrote:Talking negatively about me isn't the same as refuting my claim that minimum wage to monitor a game is a pretty good deal. There are plenty of people out there getting minimum wage while having to work in shittier environments.

Yes, minimum wage for monitoring a game is decent compared to other working environments. However, the qualifications and requirements that Nexon seeks for the people of those positions (this includes GMs) could EASILY get them jobs paying a whole lot more than the peanut money they gain.

Chaos: Age of Battle - Blades4hire - 2011-07-17

If they have some kind of Top 10 in your server PvP rankings, I'm definitely trying for that

Chaos: Age of Battle - Combattente - 2011-07-17

Viaje Wrote:And you could say the same, but you'd be wrong. I have shown that Nexon's profits are ever increasing despite their constantly poor customer service and game stability.

That was in Q1, when it wasn't still THIS bad. Any proof they're still increasing in Q2?

Viaje Wrote:http://corruptauthority.com/corruption-bribes-unethical-ethics-state-government-better-business-bureau-leader-resigns-amid-pay-for-play-scandal/

So you can prove that ALL the companies (in particular Square Enix) who got high ratings paid for them, or is that a supposition of yours?

Where exactly are these qualifications and requirements for a GM position?

Combattente Wrote:That was in Q1, when it wasn't still THIS bad. Any proof they're still increasing in Q2?
It's been worse before.

As for Q2, they haven't released any information on it. Since they aren't a publicly traded company (yet), they don't have to say anything about their profits.

Regardless, it's not my job to prove that they're doing better; it's your job to prove they're doing worse.
If I say that your mother is a whore, it's not your job to prove that she isn't.

Combattente Wrote:So you can prove that ALL the companies (in particular Square Enix) who got high ratings paid for them, or is that a supposition of yours?
I never said Square Enix paid for their rating nor did I say that all companies with high ratings paid for them.
What I did imply was that any such corruption makes all the ratings meaningless.

Really though, I get a chuckle every time someone cites the BBB.

Blades4hire Wrote:If they have some kind of Top 10 in your server PvP rankings, I'm definitely trying for that

I feel like there is, or there's a reward for getting a certain amount of BP in a time period.
Lemme check if that was in KMS.
EDIT: Yeah, you can get a perma'd Larson Challenger item if you get 1k BP in a match.
Nothing really good, no leaderboards that are mentioned.

Chaos: Age of Battle - Blades4hire - 2011-07-17

Viaje and Combattente need their own thread

The ratings still come out of somewhere, and if they gave Square Enix an A+ there must be a reason, which isn't necessarily because they bribed them. They might be meaningless to you, but to many others they aren't.

If I say that your mother is a whore, it's not your job to prove that she isn't.

Well, after Q1 there have been dupe incidents which were not addressed in ANY way, number of hackers increasing exponentially to the extent that many maps in the game are completely unplayable, login issues which haven't been experienced (not in such a high number) before and much, much more.

I think those are good enough reasons to think it's going worse than before, and if they aren't to you, it's your problem.

I'm going to leave the discussion here because it got to a point I don't think it's even worth to keep answering to your posts anymore.

Thanks
From the stats posted on spadows blog about these items, they seem pretty useless

Chaos: Age of Battle - iamflip - 2011-07-17

I like how we got into a discussion about the overall state of the company after looking at one lousy trailer. It's almost like a thread derailment! Big Grin

Also, no leaderboards, and I'm not sure if we'll have those quests that net you equipment after earning some BP. The equipment is good for PvP I think (especially when you have them all worn for the set bonus), but not much else.
