Dev Blog: The Age of Heroes Class Rebalance - Kalovale - 2011-06-28

GMS have not and will not deviate from KMS original content. I don't know what you mean by the lack of authority to make changes. Has their attempt to look genuinely contributing to our interest actually worked? You yourself know that the whole Mechanics bit was smellier than cow dunk. I really can't wrap my mind around giving them the benefit of the doubt, as if they ever had the intention to do us any good.

I personally prefer Hime's bullpomegranate. At least it is entertaining to mock her ignorance from time to time. Eurydice seems to have been hired specifically to write these blogs, not to develop the game and be earnest with us.

Depends on your relative scale.

What do you mean by 'deviate'?
Do you mean in the sense that they won't modify the content or they won't modify the order?
I agree the first won't happen, but they've definitely done the latter. In fact, they'll be doing it again tomorrow.

Personally, I don't find that skill 'tweaks' warrant waiting for an appropriate patch, nor is there a reason for them to wait.

For me, it's not an issue of them "genuinely contributing to our interest"; it's an issue of them attempting to genuinely bring some stability and balance to their game. Those are two entirely different issues.
Balancing the game works in their favor, believe it or not.

Choosing not to accuse without evidence isn't giving them the benefit of the doubt; it's just being fair.

It depends. Drinking milk is good for your health, but it costs money. Is it worth it? For every dollar you spend on milk, how much health will you gain?

Actually balancing the game would require brain power and labor, which cost money. Why waste money when they can just copy KMS content and appear to give a pineapple? And then, better yet, claim it their own sweat and blood?

Obviously, they think it's worth their effort seeing as the continually attempt to do so.
Nice... um... metaphor...

Seeing as they theoretically already have the employees, it's a waste of money not to utilize them more fully.
I also don't see them taking credit for KMS' work anywhere in this blog.
In addition, as I said, we have absolutely no solid idea of how Maplestory's development process works nor how the different branches interact. Thus, we don't know who is included in the 'we' on whose behalf he is speaking.

But let's see more of that hate!
Clearly Nexon America murdered your cat.

Sorry, lady. It'll never happen again.

Though, clearly, neither does rational thought.

Can you not infer something properly before dismissing it as irrelevant?
Attempting to do something and exerting efforts to do it properly are two entirely different things. One comes at a cost, the other comes at a lesser one.

The way the blog is written makes it seems like the Developers actually developed Chaos and participated in the actual conception of Chaos, but in truth they just took someone else work and translated it, that's not to say their work isn't needed, but they shouldn't be claiming so much is from their own hard work.

Can you present an appropriate metaphor?
I extrapolated the meaning of your analogy just fine, thanks.
It was dismissed because it was irrelevant, not because I automatically concluded it would be so.

Keep in mind that it's generally more costly to have to do something again than it is to do it once.

'We' can (and probably should) be taken as 'Nexon'.
It looks better for a corporation to demonstrate a sense of unity.
Also...

Yes, yes we do.

Did any1 else see the MapleStory Intervention video?
Mech's comeback to WildHunter made me LOL literally!

Or is your only purpose in this world to arbitrarily disagree with me?

False.
Drinking milk is an ongoing effort and so is balancing classes.
Why is this so, you might ask. I've already pointed out something you didn't "extrapolate just fine", perhaps I'll let you do the honor.

From how I see it, MapleStory dev team has never had the intention of achieving nor maintaining the balance among their classes.
This:

is no better an assumption than anybody else's, yet is projected off as absolute truth.

One inherent problem with your metaphor is that drinking milk is not a singular method to achieve the health benefits it provides; it's an alternative.
There are all sorts of other ways to gain the same benefits.
The same isn't true of balancing classes; there's only one way to put classes on equal footing.

Also, while drinking milk (or any of the alternatives) are indeed on-going efforts, class balancing does not have to be.
Done right, a large-scale balance would only need to be done once.
While minor tweaks could occur as new classes are added, there would be no need to totally revamp all classes every year.
Conversely, you can't drink five gallons of milk in one day and expect the health benefits to endure as if you were drinking your normal portion each day. That's not how the body works.

Did I extrapolate that out enough for ya?

They wouldn't do it if they didn't think it was worth the effort.
That's not an assumption; it's business.

As you yourself said: it costs money to rebalance all the time.

I see you aren't following. There are more than one way to benefit the business, balancing classes debatably is one of them.

Viaje Wrote:They wouldn't do it if they didn't think it was worth the effort.

Just because they do it does not imply they AIM to achieve it. Big Bang, Chaos, Jump, what-have-yous are NOT attempts to make the game fair (as it inherently never is), they serve to refresh the game that has gone on for 7-something years and pull in new and old players alike.

If they truly wish for class balance, they wouldn't have time and time again pumped out ridiculously overpowered class AFTER having tried to balance the ones before those. It's like building yourself a lego castle then go play bowling with it. It's illogical at best and idiotic at worst to assume they do, let alone asserting such.
