What were they looking for exactly? xD I live in Washington so there's no way I could go and check personally xP They were looking for someone who had some knowledge of computers. A lot of stuff as GM is provided to you. All you have to do is basically report hackers or focus on issues at the time (any other type of game abuse that recently surged). I wanted to demonstrate my abilities with PC and analysis and knowledge of the maple world so as to show I was a top candidate, but I overshot my aim. I was too qualified. The interview was smooth for me, but they did try to play hard ball. They were surprised I was lvl 13x (top 300 in Bera back then) and said if I hacked they would know. I said they were free to look it up. They asked what games I play, why I was interested in Nexon as a GM position, if I could be trusted:

An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - Takebacker - 2009-08-06 Having extensive knowledge of the game ends up with you being too qualified huh. I wonder what kind of job you could get with that kind of resource. The GM scroll thing is very interesting. They must do a good job of keeping it under wraps, i've never heard of anything like that happening before. An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - rayhovite - 2009-08-06 It is more well-known in CMS..... you can also buy your way out of getting banned. Same thing goes for Gunbound World Champion.. So in a sense it is understandable why they prefer someone who doesn't care about the game: something as GM scrolls won't be seen as so heartily desired. An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - StringStrider - 2009-08-06 GummyBear Wrote:From my understanding, Nexon takes shortcuts on various things. One of those examples is the white-slating esq issue. This is pretty much analogous to that issue. I wont go into further details tho IMO it does look to be a side effect from releasing the hammer, and as modular said, they either announce it is a glitch or people abuse it. "Technically" the MTS was created so that even credit-cardless players can still obtain NX. "Technically" the "Cash Shop will not affect gameplay" is still a valid statement, because "technically" you can sell in game items for NX, and then use said NX in the cash shop. So "technically" everything in MS "can" still be "free". Edit: @GM Scrolls Since they are so potent, why wouldn't they simply remove them from the game? I mean since GMs have control over them, I don't see why giving them out is such a big deal? I mean sure, they are extremely potent, but as long as they aren't giving out like 100 of every type to 1 player, it shouldnt be too big a deal? I mean to what extent do you mean by "mass creating"? I would think if they did anything from 7 to 21 it shouldnt be that bad? I mean 3 perfect weapons? Sell 2 and keep 1 and be set for life? An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - KhainiWest - 2009-08-06 I think its a double edge sword to have a worker who doesn't like/heard of MS vs one who plays it. They need responsible insiders. The workers are too unattached to the game to give much crap about the real problems at hand and their magnitude. They are to apathetic when it comes to lost emails to accounts (Considering emails close everyday because of service providers/you relocating). Hell I don't see why that you can't fund your own characters for the hell of it and not include them on ranking. I can understand if you exploit it for money and what not but if for personal amusement, take the character off rankings big frekin deal lol. Unlike private servers there is a limit even with gm scrolls and ect. That however can have an impact depending on the person as well, as to personal grudges with other players. However they really need to have someone 'train' with them to gain their trust and still allow them to play the game and not hold that factor accountable. Having a maplestory player who actually cares to fix the game would have such a huge impact. Yet it's kind of a flip because it can cause mass chaos with one worker falling for glutony. What is everyone else's opinion on this? For once i completely agree with you. So "technically" everything in MS "can" still be "free". The concept behind MTS is definitely a noble one, but with the recent change in taxing on the MTS, you surely cannot ascertain Nexon's in it to help their customers. Their announcement stated it was to crack down on people using MTS as storage, but in reality, what does it really do to affect those people? All it really does is take more NX out of the MTS economy. People selling things using this mechanism can gain more than they would normally, but on the same tact the people buying things from MTS spend a good bit more than they did before. Each transaction takes a little bit of NX out of the game, and it ensures that a given player will run out more quickly than they would with the old tax rate. If anything, it's a ploy to encourage more people to buy cash cards. Ignoring this strategy would be gross negligence. It's glaringly obvious. Because firstly, you need to have NX to buy stuffs on MTS. Sure you can sell things to obtain your NX but where did that NX comes from? It comes from people buying game-cards. Then, there's the NX sink factor involved, before, it's 10% + 100 NX per transaction. Now, it's 7% + 500 NX per transaction. The sink factor has increased, given most transactions out there are approximately less than 14K. Before you can make some NX selling solid horns. Now, I doubt anyone willing to fork out 6xx NX to buy 200 solid horns. Therefore, what technically possible doesnt always equates to realistically possible for those who cannot get game cards, whom has to work harder than before to get NX. All this will be voided if game-card uses decided to stop buying it as eventually the tax will devour up all the NX. tl;dr; Technical chances and realistic chances are 2 very different things. An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - kingdj333 - 2009-08-07 O_o oh Gawd, you guys make great Lawyers. I've never seen anyone break down Nexons schemes so easily. Am I irght??? But I can't complain, I'm propably one of the people that buy NX and don't even know whats happening. An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - Dusk - 2009-08-07 MTS was not created so more players could have access to NX, it was created to tax the pomegranate out of the existing NX, encouraging players to buy more NX. The increased availability is just a selling point. An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - Fiel - 2009-08-07 How can people argue that anything is truly free? Couldn't have said it better myself. When people complain about nexon a lot of people argue back 'they're a business'. Adding new nx items to allow better equipment/advantages is a given in any game that is considered free. If you want to be considered in the top 70% then you have to fork over some dough or work 10x harder than anyone else would. It's really just exploiting a person's gluttony, adding rankings for competition to exectuate the gluttony to be the best further. No matter how you look at it nexon is using simple practices that can barely not fall under "unethitical". They need more opinions from respectable players. Level doesn't always matter but its more dependable then pickin illiterate kid from mexico who just wants free items vs a level 15x who has a view of the game the devolopers don't. Personally they should pick players who have a registered IP address for more than 2 years and have above 15x. Those are the dedicated players who want change for the better, not change for themselfs. Am I the only naive one believing a loving world where free lunches are actually free? ![]() As a matter of observation, I don't quite believe Nexon is at all incompetent, they just don't demonstrate competency in appropriate (or expected) areas we may well know of. If I may ask you, how many times have new features to this game been deemed to be 'catastrophic'? Has any of them done any detrimental damage to Nexon's financial profits, either directly to NX purchase decline or indirectly via players' quitting? No. Time and again, Nexon has unfailingly managed to nurture their golden-egg-laying goose and make sure more eggs keep rolling out of the hen house everyday. This could simply be due to the fact that Maple is addictive and our human nature to keep adapting to new situations, but it also reflects that Nexon isn't ignorant enough to ruin their own fortune, in my humble opinion. In fact, they have done a good job in psyching up their players' interest, since longer before than I can remember. I believe the MapleStory team of Nexon America Corp. would be more than potential to do a much better job than what has been/is being demonstrated if they truly wished to be of service. But I empathize their money-making schemes on the other hand, greed is the one thing shared among men after all. I'm just not exactly a fan of people who ignorantly keep defending themselves through defending Nexon and after a while not knowing who or what you are peaching to defend. It is clear as day (or white night) that Nexon wants money, so leave them be. You want the game, they want your money, I don't see the problem(s) here. Because of above listed beliefs, it never fails to bring me a good chuckle whenever someone says: "You should be happy Nexon is doing YOU a favor and run this game.". No thanks, NEXON should be grateful that this game (and other games) are running. Without MapleStory, our grades will most likely go up, while in the same situations, Nexon's employees might as well end up fixing computers. tl;dr: TANSTAAFL. MapleStory is not free, Nexon wants to milk everything they can out of it. Whatever positives they're performing are to help enhance their gain, and I personally don't complain about the good sides, so I tolerate the bad sides. EDIT: On-topic: I don't think Nexon has ever ever been aware of HTP's issue here (if it even is an issue). The codes KMS wrote on HTPs allowed Dragon Stones to only work on the 3rd slot, and the codes GMS wrote for VH's slots are not at all relevant to the original 7 slot, hence the 'overlooking' case, I assume. Heck, if more than 2 VH's were to be allowed, it would be clear that Nexon simply failed to include HTP's case in their consideration before launching it into game. +10 HTP anyone? I've had about over 4 level 70 plus characters, level has nothing to do with the game now days since everyone and anyone can just about buy mesos from online and buy leech .... its more about time of the player has spent ..... I've seen a lot of the mistakes nexon has made and have had my views of how bad nexon is and what good they do but in the end a person has to be there. when the the hacking , duping and all the other stuff ms has gone through to be a player that has a view that can better the whole game. An undiscussed aspect of Hammer + HT Pendant - KhainiWest - 2009-08-07 Stereo Wrote:Neither of those is a good judge of players. I'm just throwing ideas out there. You also have to consider what rules. Point blank hacking is automatic gone. Cursing, buying nx with mesos, buying mesos period(through bags or through websites) I don't think really should have an impact on that type of decision but that's just me. Maybe 15x was a little high but come on, obviously the higher levels are going to have more invested time, money and nx into their characters then say a level 4x who just pq's once in awhile. There's no clear line that can be drawn between good/bad besides hacker vs legit. It took me 3 months to get to 128 and that was casual grinding. In the end I'm not telling how it should be sorted but rather it should be and some of those players have the oppurtunity to be game masters. We need people who play, who give a crap, and want to better the community. I'm sorry but Dexlessnarutosupersaiyanretard whos level 7x is only going to care about being a 'legend' in the game and abuse his power. Versus to someone whos achieved that high 80% and isn't in that job for the money or advantages, just to make a bigger change. Hell if I was a gm first thing I'd do is stalk yohappe for 2 hours in khaini. Bam big ban right there, I'd be like frekin jesus if I banned that ksing tard. Hell if they had a gm for every boss the ksing rate would dwindle down to near nothing. Hell if they FRAPPED 24 hours, and did a charcater log check on who wre on the map, checked the times, look at times where characters overlap, go to that 'time' and see if there was a ksing conflict. Delete the 24 hour video after 3 days. There are so many ways to make this game virginal rather than sadistic with lil to no work. |
