The Quest Specialist counter will count the chains of quests. For example, that Alacaster quest had MANY parts, near 20 I think. That one quest will count for 20 on that counter, but only one in your completed tab. Not many have more quests than Isaac =P

Ok guys, here's the deal. A new table will be added under the Top Questers banner. This will be a table completely independent of the first and will record people's Quest Specialist counter number. Also, the Quest Specialists banner will be removed and medals will be included in the current table and the new one. When wishing to update, post your completed tab, your Quest Specialist counter, and a picture of the medal IN YOUR INVENTORY (not just a picture of the title under your character) if you have it. You CAN be on both tables, of course. There will be no exclusions / inclusions counted in the Quest Specialist counter because everyone is already on an equal playing field, and chains still count even if the quest isn't fully completed. Yes?

yes?

Can anyone confirm that the Quest Specialist Medal doesn't count event quests?

I'm missing maybe a half dozen quests from the other tabs (probably things like the TCG items, and regaining the lost X) and yet I'm barely passing 800 possible quests to do... and yet I hear people have 950+.

Quest Counts (in progress + complete):
16 @ Job (including Quest Specialist)
149 @ Victoria (+1 that I haven't unlocked yet)
44 @ El Nath / Aqua Road
102 @ Ludus Lake
13 @ Leafre
71 @ Mu Lung + Nihal Desert
27 @ Masteria
19 @ Temple of Time
24 @ World Tour
53 @ Event

From my current total (740), if I complete every visible quest (excluding Jay's Curiosity which is not possible) I end up with 813/800. So where is the other +140 to get 950 total?

Who knew so many people did quests?

It counts quest chains too.

Quest Kings: Official Version - Stereo - 2009-06-30

When I say 813, that's including chains. I only have about 40 left visible but there are ~70 subquests.

This thread has been slightly re-formatted. Let me know what you think, especially you Froz.

Quest Kings: Official Version - MetaSeraphim - 2009-06-30

Since you already know I have a Medal you also know I at least have 800 quests done by the Quest Specialist counter so add me to the list with that. Using the picture I sent you in PM if possible.

I'll do a real update later on.

Quest Kings: Official Version - Rick - 2009-06-30

Remember guys, updates now include posting your completed tab (and Cupid's Courier) AND your Quest Specialist tab (whether or not you make it in to the top 25) AND your medal IN YOUR INVENTORY if you have it. Thanks.

FrozNlite Wrote:My comment, if you recall, was not saying "let's ignore this and be ignorant," but rather that 20-30 is at most one fifth of the possible number of completed event quests, which is a much lower number of contention than the current system. Hence, negligible (especially considering those quests are still possible for several and widely available, compared to event quests from 4 years ago or whatnot).

I'm not going to drag this out, as I'm fine with the way it has been rearranged for now, but I just wanted to say this. You say that 20-30 quests are negligible? Yet at the same time you complain about fairness because there simply aren't any quests available for you to do to increase your rank. I know this well myself since no matter what I do, there is no way I could catch Issac or MCN on the current system because they are permanently just a few dozen above me. However, basing it without regard to event quests while lacking concern for the "miss-able quests" is just a shift of where the unfairness lay. And that, in my opinion, is not the path to follow in pursuit of "fairness".

Quite frankly though, nothing in this world in a competition is in it's entirety fair. If you were to equalize all conditions, you would wind up with almost everyone who put an effort into it #1. But that doesn't satisfy the populous either in the end, since people will always claim to put more effort into something than another and will claim that the #1 position should rightfully be theirs exclusively. Of course, going the opposite direction doesn't do you any good either since not having fair initial points leads those at a disadvantage to unrest...

...Bah, got started into my whole "why society can't really have a perfect system" spiel...

In any case, I approve of the dual system for now until a better alternative is suggested.

Oh, and you really shouldn't have just taken my word for my subquest ranks in the other thread; you know the saying, SS or it didn't happen.

910/800 Right at the moment, although I will be held up for a long time with those 999 quests because of my level.

P.S. Soon as maker comes out, I'd like my character's appearance to be updated. I consider myself fugly as can be right now... That and they removed the only NX item I've ever bought...

Quest Kings: Official Version - IsaacGS - 2009-06-30

The problem with trying to get a "total quest count" is that it requires that you know how many quests are in the game, but not only that; you would need to know what was available to each individual person. Why? Because, it's naturally unfair to count maple Island quests for people who made their characters before such quests existed. But then there are other things, like PPQ quests, MPQ quests, and so on, which came out later but some people might have been able to do. What if you were level 100 when PPQ came out and just decided to skip those quests? Those were available to you, and it's your own fault that you didn't do them, so they should count against you. If you were 101, then you never had a chance so it shouldn't. Of course this gets calculated into a percentage and in this case there will probably be a 20-way tie for first.

I had considered this before, but it's still sort of unfair due to the constantly changing Maple Island quests, PQ quests, and early event quests found in the Victoria section. Let's face it, there's no totally fair way to do this.

I thought I'd throw my name into the fray.

514 quests done, and I have the Quest Specialist Medal
I'm not quite sure about this. Does the Blue Mushmom quest bump me up? I haven't done it yet.[Image: questkings2.png]
816/800.

Edit: So that's 514 + CC = 515?
Or does Blue Mushmom make it 516?
Sorry, I'm a first-timer.
