Wow. You have an awesome GPA too IIRC.

only have a 3.80 now, got a B- in diff eq because I bombed one test. got a 90~100+ on everything else graded. still really pissed about that grade, B- makes it seem like I struggled in that class but I understood it really well.

I have prior research experience, *basically* published in a nuclear physics paper, and I'm an eagle scout.
I thought UCLA would be a definite cause it was one of the "easier" schools I applied to Sad most of my other applications are at CalTech/JPL. If I don't get accepted to anything, I honestly don't know what I'm going to do. It's my last summer before I apply to grad schools and I kind of need serious research experience like this.

The other four NSF / REU programs are supposed to have replied within a week from now, CalTech being the only specific saying "by 03/15"
The 10 internships through NASA seem to be.. whenever they feel like it? All 10 of those are at JPL, however. They all say "Not Yet Filled" for the position status, so all 10 of those are still fair game.

They denied you because the better opportunities already got dibs on you.

If it helps, your birthday is on the same month as mine! Mine is on the 11th.

Oh my god. Same Zodiac sign, both live in Bay Area....same NAME even?
What is this sorcery?!

Thanks for the post Smile

Holy pomegranate tons of relief today.

Been freaking out this weekend over the waves/probability quizzes today. Waves ended up being a "can you take derivatives" quiz. Professor started the quiz after he handed them out and I finished before him, lol. He ended up giving us the formulas which really doesn't even count as a quiz in my mind. Two part question - first was second derivative, second was third derivative divided by second derivative. And the quiz had "you should get these values" and obviously I got those values so pineapple yeah another 100.

Probability I literally had no idea how to do any of the potential quiz problems except part of one, and it ended up being that exact problem. Also handed back the midterm today (which I was worried about) and I got an A.

Now to prepare for the thermo midterm on Thursday. Also getting a response from caltech before the weekend.

Much stress. Very excite.

Edit:
Haha, nope. Got a 30% on my thermodynamics homework that I spent over 12 hours on. F'uck this class seriously. I've never done this bad in any class ever before.

Unbelievably happy, which is so out of character for me.

Didn't fail my logic midterm as I thought I would! Ended up getting an 81.

Lost like most of the points on Question 4, though, where I needed to declare the theorems before proving them, and I totally didn't remember them nor did I prepare a cheat sheet as I was permitted too. (Might not have helped, structural induction still seems to elude me)

First time in a long time where I've seen some artwork online and have gotten absolutely blown away :U

http://jiyu-kaze.deviantart.com/art/Elsa-frozen-437235329

Also decided to heed a lot of the advice from my other thread about advice given to a 16 year old and decided to chill out with a primary school friend and discuss the future instead of just doing my english essay, which I can easily pull off tomorrow.

I know this sounds bad and sounds like procrastination but I really feel like instead of putting it off i did the 'right' thing.

Wasn't feeling well this morning but sucked it up and went anyway. I'm working on re-doing my Dad's website in Web Design to make it look better. Did I mention I'm tired of most underclassmen and just want to graduate already! 50 days til I'm out.

This semester is mostly a trainwreck for midterms. C+ in intermediate financial accounting II, finance II, and tax I, 70 on my first game theory midterm... on the other hand I got 86 on my first intermediate microeconomics II midterm and 90 on my second game theory midterm.

Awkward, thats a photo manipulation. Dont get me wrong, its awesome and all, but the chances that that being a full digital painting are slim to none. Just look at the other work hes done (and the fact there is only one progress shot with the tulle around her chest not there), the quality is a big mismatch, especially in the hair (which is the easiest place to look for digital vs photo manipulation).

Ontopic: Ended up getting a 95/100 on a paper I did the night before. I feel accomplished.

My emotions are swinging from blindingly upbeat to catastrophically morose within minutes of each spike.

Congrats on the paper

Anyway theres a reason why I was blown away by it, I thought it was a photo of cosplay touched up in PS at first and when I did some research I came to the conclusion that it was 'true'

Seems believable to me, and if it isn't then pineapple that guy because I want to be able to pull that off in the future.

Editing with actual on topic thing that i thought was worth posting and still happened today:

Starting to get the same beautiful feeling I get when I draw...

When I'm doing an english essay :f6:

Hope that actually shows through in better-writing as opposed to me just deluding myself.

I started playing around on Wii Fit again.
Turns out I'm not too bad at yoga.
Now I just have to keep this up everyday.

Edit: Oh, and my jaw is hurting less and less. My theory about the earplugs is starting to be proven true.
Now for some less-than-happy stuff, my dad seems to be depressed and it's causing quite the tension at home. :/

Last day of work before my two week trip to San Diego starts, very excited since I've been waiting 6 years for this trip.

Coincidentally i also get to meet with some friends from Maple from my old Khaini days. This will be a great time.

Pretty annoyed that YouTube keeps trying to force me to use my full name on my YouTube account. No, no and no, thank you very much. No means no. Stop automagically switching me to my full name. I will not do that, don't you understand? I don't want it. If I wanted it, don't you think I would've done it already?

How was your day? - Marksman Bryan - 2014-03-13

Starting to get pissed at how TAs are grading my thermo AND waves homework. I literally spent 3 hours on one problem for waves (which, btw, neither the textbook or lectures explain how to do the problems), my work spanning across THREE pages (all math), and they gave me ZERO points for it. Are you f'ucking kidding me?

Same with thermo. Got a 30% on the last homework because I missed one tiny thing in the first problem, which carried over through the rest. Nope, no partial credit. Same story here as well, nowhere was I taught how to do these problems.
