Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Rhayn - 2010-01-26 Sometimes I wonder if they've fired anyone recently. Maybe after the Black Friday fiasco? I know they're pretty laid back when it comes to bugs, but if it actually hurt their sales... Doesn't really matter, either they'll find the problem and fix it, or they don't find it and jam their fingers back in their ears; they won't compensate and I doubt they'll so much as acknowledge that anything ever happened on their side. Also, I feel kinda sorry for Hime. Even if she/he is getting paid for being on pomegranate control duty and all. Where are you getting the fact that they don't work at Nexon offices? I remember specifically reading that a requirement to be an MWLB is to reside in the greater area of L.A. If it's as simple as just obtaining a special account and not working at their offices, then anyone could just apply, get an account, and go back to where they're from with no real liability to the account. They can sell that account away or give the info to someone else and Nexon would never know. It wouldn't work like this if you're officially working for a corporation. GM accounts may not be logged on in-game from a computer outside of Nexon offices (as proven before via a hack). I would expect nothing less for MWLB. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Kevo - 2010-01-26 I'm pretty sure you are eligible for MWLB no matter where you live as long as it's in an area that is within GMS's regions. They're just normal players. They wanted to talk to players who were in their area for that. MWLB didn't require you to be in california. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Cyadd - 2010-01-26 Got onto my account just to see if i was hacked. it seemed i wasn't. my condolences to those that were. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - cronnoponno - 2010-01-27 Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not doubting the possibility of this happening. But, I'm also confused. If the DB is compromised as you all say, howcome the level 200's haven't been getting hacked yet?(as far as I know). v Made me fail, I understand thank you. Sorry for not reading. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Sarah - 2010-01-27 It's already been said a million times: having access to a username/password does not tell you what characters are on that account before-hand. The database does not store all of that information in the same place. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Molly - 2010-01-27 I'd definitely want them to scrutinize both recent firings and possibly even someone working in-house currently that potentially has some beef with nexon/their boss or that has the typical American combination of overworked and underpaid. I've had the delightful experience of having a lab partner fired for bad performance in my old job. After he left he still had online access to a ton of contacts -notably our cryo shipper and storage account that we rarely used-say twice yearly. He was able to get samples destroyed and also made a mess for us with that place and another courier service by doing online-requests for supplies. We were flooded with over 4500$ worth of crap and the asshat was using a public computer in the hospital itself so the location tracker and IP was all looking normal to our suppliers. It was a mess! He did this for a long time before people realized what was going on. Also when I left Parexel, I had access to all online email accounts as well as phone- controlled security for the pharmacy freezers, fridges and bins. If I was a rotten person I could have easily disabled all temperature ecorders and ruined millions upon millions of data in any number of clinical trials-tens of millions of dollars lost in queries and manhours. It's always the small little details no one thinks of. And yes I can understand things take time-but any company with half an ounce of common sense knows communication is above all other importance when there is a major problem. I've talked my way out of lost contracts due to error manyyyyyy times at work just by being open and creative with my word choice. If I can talk my way into the wallets of big pharma with my BS and a smile, surely nexon can figure out how to appease it's loyal playerbase for the time being. I can only hope that this sc will result in surprise free item locks. That is the VERY least they can do- costs zero and gives such positive reinforcement I don't understand why it wasn't done immediately! -----also a note on sep locked nx or mts- I wholeheartedly agree. This is our real life earned money. Also our meso bank. I'd love a secondary pin or even better I'd love to be able to -lock- our bank whenever we want like how u can on neopets (sorry my only other game exp so it's my only comparison) after so many withdrawls Neo banks are "locked" til midnite pst when it resets. Id lve to be able to self lock my bank daily after play. And if we are on a break/vacation I'd love self account locking as well. My bf was saying he played a game where u can choose to put ur account on standby if u were going to be on hiatus. It cost a certain amount of say nx or meso to lock it up. Then nexon can truly say they have given it's users all the tools to protect themselves and it's "not their fault". But I'm sure we all have a hundred easy great ideas that nexon will ignore. Unless they can Charge for it.... Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Fumni - 2010-01-27 Has anyone who filed a BBB complaint gotten a response from Nexon yet? If you don't know how to check it, go to your e-mail, and follow the instructions the BBB sent you. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Wigum - 2010-01-27 No response to my bbb complaint as of yet. Though they apparently have 7 more days to give one. (it says to allow 2 weeks for response). Tho that 2 weeks started officially a week after I submitted it and a month after the issue. I'm not holding my breath for anything to come of it. Hell i've been trying to put a ticket in for over a month and they've not touched it yet. In this day and age, how that's considered acceptable customer service is beyond me. (which was really the genesis of my bbb complaint anyway) Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Jellyflower - 2010-01-27 I think Nexon needs dummy accounts themselves (either used as baits or discourage hacking) to attest their own statements regarding this issue. But knowing them, they probably just throw that idea away and not want to admit their own fault and lack of security, even if such trends arise and suggest otherwise. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - SixtySevenFrogs - 2010-01-27 I have a question about the hackings. How is it possible to bypass the pin? My friend just got hacked and she doesn't have a keylogger and never shares her info with anyone else besides me and I know her in real life so I was sure her account was safe. I know her password was really easy to get but you would still need to get the pin? Her password and pin were not changed so I assume the hacker SOMEHOW got the pin. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Wigum - 2010-01-27 A pin is the least difficult piece of security on the account. Even brute forcing it wouldnt take *that* long. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - cronos12 - 2010-01-27 As a long time lerker and worker for a major retail company in their home office, I just had to register to reply to anyone expecting a response from a Better Business Bureau complaint post. The BBB is not a government agency. Nor is it some major controlling group that regulates anything for businesses. The BBB is a complaint department, pure and simple. Anyone can file a complaint on any business with them. If the business subscribes to the BBB (which most don't, including major corporations like wal-mart and target), then the business can refute the claims and the BBB will take them down. If not, then the BBB lowers an arbitrary "grade" for the company and posts the complaint. That's it. It's pretty much Customer Service Blackmail. So, other than maybe scaring a couple of people away from Nexon, a post on the BBB means nothing. Contacting a State Attorney General with a business issue is the only way to get a business truly looked into, and it'd unlikely that this issue would lead to an investigation. Just a little "Now you know" kind of moment. I'm glad that i'm just an alt-aholic and none of my toons are over level 50. Even if they logged onto my account they'd probably just laugh and move on to the next one. And i don't know whether to be happy or sad about that Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - Schrono - 2010-01-27 I wonder if when Nexon upgraded their servers they threw out the old ones and never remembered to destroy the hard drives in them (because they announced it on their website, and their address is available on the internet) someone could have simply gone by the dumpster near their office every day after they had the server upgrade and when they saw one or more servers in there they pulled them out and took them home. It'd also be possible for an employee to have stolen the hard drives if they wanted to sell the information (though I consider the negligence in properly disposing of the hard drives with information on them to be much more likely). If they have infiltrated Nexon's own internal security then it doesn't matter what you have done to protect your account it isn't safe. That is why this current hacking epidemic is so scary because its obvious that they aren't going to the users to secure the required info. They are able to hack us at will getting the information from another source which we have deduced at this point to be Nexon. If Eos were to come on here and tell us he got hacked and that he was unable to find any trace of a keylogger, network interference, or accounts being touched with his auditing equipment I wouldn't believe him. If you posted the above and said you got hacked I wouldn't believe you. But when professional programmers get hacked and say they can't find any trace of being bugged, and it happens to one after another after another after another after another then sooner or later I have to start believing. Eos didn't believe til he got hacked. I know several people that refused to believe it wasn't keylogging until it happened to them and they were unable to locate the problem. The evidence is overwhelming. Nexon is facing a security breach whether they want to admit it or not. The game isn't safe, your equips aren't safe, your mesos aren't safe, you have a legitimate reason to be worried about playing Maple. The ball is in your court Nexon, get your heads out of the sand and do something about it. I recall someone saying they changed their pass a couple days 'ago' before their hacking. Hard to say though. Personally, I changed my password last week, but I am fine for now. I don't know when I'll get hacked, but I think it might be inevitable. Most you can do is 'attempt' by changing passwords every couple of days. I have an account with a high levelled Bishop, but since I don't use her much, I stripped her clean, so that's the only account I'm not too worried about. Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users? - MissingLink - 2010-01-27 I've been poking around the web looking at MD5 hash cracking sites. I don't claim to understand much of it, but what is clear is that you should make sure you password is at least 10 characters long (might as well use full 12) and has numbers, lower case and upper case letters, and maybe a special symbol or two. If you think something like '3j7f0y2d' is good enough, you are wrong. |
