As for whether they'll stick to wiping everything but IGN/levels or actually wipe everything, one thing to consider is that regardless of what they do, you could only make 3 characters a day, so people will camp some of your favorite IGNs whether you like it or not. It also means if you wanted an IGN but it's taken, then it's popular enough that others want it too. I can tolerate it if they will wipe everything for real, but I'll still miss out on choice IGNs because even more people will be barging into the Beta to take and hold names. Alpha was as good a time to take IGNs as any.

I supose that a partial wipe might be hard to achieve and they have to revert back to a clean slate start anyway, but I doubt it.

Even more people will be playing the game since they'll know everything they earn from here on will remain.
