XBish Wrote:there is the answer. just put the 12 ont he archer ( i imagine you train that one since the 200 doesnt need to train) and reloot on your hero till you get a 11 or 12.

Hero still actively bosses a lot. It's my main and fighter/sader/hero is the only class i've ever made since beta...until my archer. I train the archer, but i'm not very serious with it. Out of 50-ish or more cwkpq's the group i run with has only found one 12atk (200 pendants or more). I doubt i'll get another 12atk for hero. And a 10atk vs. 11 or 12atk on archer is just 1-2 watk, not that big a deal for a not-so-serious-character. This is a big dilemma. I guess i'll flip a coin and decide for myself.

The main question i want opinions on is:
Should i keep my ranger's base str low and use ht pend to equip arund/metus. Or should i raise my base str to equip the Naricain pend+arund/metus? We may get maker-skill in the future and we might be able to scroll ht 2nd and 3rd egg (additional 30str ontop of the 22-stat 1st egg'ed ht pend).

I really don't want to have a str base too high over what's needed for my bow. I would've made a strless archer if i didn't have a str cape on my hero or if i didn't mess up on my archer in the beginning and add to str because of habit. Even though strless eventually is weaker in the higher lvls, the build is so much easier. So keep my low base and just use ht pend or raise base to use mark of naricain?

Use a top and bottom set when you want to equip your Mark of Naricain, and a dex overall when you want to wear your Horntail Pendant. That way you can use both as you please.

Aya, alternatively get a godly Str overall. More potential for Str than a Top, but much harder to scroll.

Question for bowmen who APQs: how do you fight geist balrog effectively?

Last night, I had my first APQ and I was lucky enough to have KaidaTan and a pretty high level party, so Geist was dead before I knew it. But, during the whole boss stage, I felt really useless because I spent almost the entire time trying to find Geist only to have the teleporters lead me nowhere or missing when it teleported. I think 3 Strafes hit, at most. So, after the pq, I was wondering what would happen if I was in a lower level party that actually needs my contribution in killing Geist.

Any advice?

If your party lures Geist after it flies off the screen then just chill at the bottom. If everyone chases it around like mad, just try to find where it is and shoot. Memorizing where the teleporters go is useful.

If you're strictly soloing, have other party members hide in a corner and use puppet to lure it down, and attack. Repeat everytime it flies off. This will probably be pretty painful.

The fastest boss kills I've been in either had a massively strong and quick physical damage dealers to kill it before it does its def-up, or both magic and physical attackers to keep it from running off even if it does def up, because it can't teleport while it's being KBed. Attacking from both sides help. Unfortunately, as an archer, you're role is basically stand and shoot and hope it hits something.

Oh hey, I think I can answer this. There's a lot about Geist that's just really Pineappleing stupid. Even if I do everything perfectly, he can still jew me and keep me from killing him for well over 2 minutes.

Try to know where the teleporters go. It helps to know how to get exactly where you need to be so you can effectively shoot Giest.

If he's facing left, stand on the right side of the platform. If he's facing right, stand on the left side of the platform. If you're unsure or you think you're going to be hit a lot (like when he's teleporting in place), just stand on a spike and shoot when you can. Staying on the correct side of the platform will keep you from getting knocked off of it so you can keep firing. Better to not stand on a spike if you don't have to, since Hurricane gets gimped a lot when you're hit.

Lastly, be quick about everything. If he's teleporting, get in a better position. The second he guards, keep following him so that you'll maybe have a good shot on him when he's not guarding. Even so, it's very very helpful to bring in any mage (so he can be KB'd while he's phys guarding), especially one with Slow.

Just practice as though you're the most important person in your party. It helps a lot. I'd say the most important thing is to learn the teleporters. Good luck and such~

The question isn't what armor to wear, its should he raise his base str?

I was merely giving him an alternative to raising his base Strength. Is something wrong with that?

Even if my xbow has a while to go before this, I feel the need to be prepared well in advance...

After 3rd job, which build produces the highest %/hour with our current content? Money isn't really a problem, and I have a 101atk lvl.64 maple xbow for her (As well as 8 atk wg, 10 dex cape, 8 dex shoes, 17 dex overall, zhelmed, diamond xbow arrows in inv.), so damage should be decent. I simply need to know the right build to use!

For the builds, try and be as detailed as possible. This will by my first 3rd job bowman EVER, so I have a lot to learn. But the %/hour is the important thing, but take into consideration how full it is, and if so how close to other good spots it is.

And thank you all for any and all information that can be used to help me decide~ Poast

1. pink letters hurt my eyes cut it out.

2. arrows do nothing, loose em unless you want to lie to yourself. it is just a host sided glitch.

3. there are 2 builds eruption first or strafe first. it all depends where you want to train. as far as for exp per hour goes, it is about the same and by your late 8x you should have 21 strafe and 21 rain/eruption anyways. check the where to train to know where you would go depending on your build.

this should help

Eruption will level you much, much faster than strafe will.

Ask a Bowman Thread. - butterfλi - 2009-04-30

Just curious, are there any fast(4) speed xbow? Like how red katana is fast(4), sparta is fast(5). Does the xbowmen get anything like that or are they still a minority class for a reason?

Cyanne Wrote:Eruption will level you much, much faster than strafe will.

now a days with windraiders and squids the speed of strafe first is pretty good. i am going strafe first and i am getting 30% on 1x at windraiders at 75, going to squids next. dont know how the exp is with eruption but it cant be much faster if faster.

As far as i know, there is only the Maple Nishda, heckler, and Night Raven's Eye that have a fast speed. Whether fast 4 or fast 5 idk, but most likely fast 5, seeing as the speed of xbows is normal, and any speed change will be 1 faster than the average speed of the weapon (some exclusions for other weapon types.)

Ask a Bowman Thread. - ArbalistMaster - 2009-04-30

those are fast 5. Fiel posted a list somewhere, I remember keeping an eye on the xbows.

Typhons are much better than either of those. I got like 50% an hour at that level, and it just kept going up as I added more points into eruption.

typhon map sucks now, so that is out of the question, what else is there. btw, doing squids at 77 for 40% now.

yes i am remaking same good old fro and all

Ask a Bowman Thread. - Cyanne - 2009-04-30

How does it suck? The left wall is never used, and you can still relog when falling. Not that it matters at 75 anyways because more typhons come to the safespot at a rate faster than level 75ers can kill them.
