Ask a Pirate Thread - blitzkrieg - 2008-11-24 they're trying to prove that fire burner is useful during higher levels after maxing amp (which would come after cannon). the two high leveled training areas available on kMS are jr. newties and skelegons. I don't have enough HP for skelegons so I went to jr. newties to test the reaction time, which would be the same at skelegons. if you plan to mob centaurs during 14x, feel free to go test the skills there yourself. I can't speak for himes or spiders since kMS doesn't have either. also, fire burner is NOT inferno. they're two totally different skills used by two completely different classes with different playing styles. if you want to argue the case for inferno, it shouldn't be done in pirate threads. steve, do you still think fire burner is a good idea in fourth job after all my arguments against it? lol Ask a Pirate Thread - Kaasoljoyyx - 2008-11-24 I asked a while back about Gaviota getting replaced. I'm pretty sure everyone will agree that it boils down to gaviota vs. flame burner. To me, gaviota is "helpful" when at newties but I never count on it to help me train, octopus does a much better job at that. Pretty sure takebacker said that if any skill replaces gaviota, it will be support octo as I thought Air Strike would but you can use both skills at the same time. I think the question has to be looked at this angle and answer these two questions: - What's the difference between 15 and 30 gaviota? Will it have a good boost at the later levels or does levle 15 get the job done? - Will it be viable to be used in training once you have support octo/air strike? Compare those questions with flame burner and that's how you can decide. Burner and cooling beats torpedo until it's at a decent level. Skill book availability: UNKNOWN. (seriously, can i has data on that pls? D: ) Torpedo saves inventory space and has longer horizontal range. Burner and cooling has better vertical range but worse horizontal range. Conclusion for global maplestory: Burner is still worth it to max as a general mobbing skill until you get 15+ torpedo, where it will only be used in the extremely off chance your ship is down. (for the record, i still have no idea how burner and cooling fare at himes so once we get more outlaws out there with burner... :O) Fine with you? :/ Kaasoljoyyx Wrote:I asked a while back about Gaviota getting replaced. The first one: The difference is like...3k damage per hit if i remember correctly. 6k per hit at max and 3k per hit at level 15. I'm a little fuzzy on the numbers so i'm sure shrapnel will fix that for me. xD The second: No. You do NOT want to be bothered with recasting it at newties, because if you pause to cast it even if it takes a fraction of a second your killing speed will go down for a measly 6k per hit on a single newtie. Ask a Pirate Thread - blitzkrieg - 2008-11-24 Takebacker Wrote:Fine, compromise time. unfortunately I can't remember how much damage gaviota did at level 15 ![]() for me, gaviota wasn't any help at newties while I was standing behind the rope, but now when I train on the top, bottom, or below the rope, it's a LOT of help.. sometimes adding on a total of around 21k damage (though usually only 7-14k) depending on the number of monsters it hits. and if you know how to time it correctly, it won't hurt your DPM at all because you can cast it while using triple fire. that's the cool thing about gunslingers.. you really have to know the class and practice to get your best EXP. about the whole burner v. torpedo thing.. I still don't think it's worth it lol. but let's agree to disagree?
Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2008-11-24 blitzkrieg Wrote:unfortunately I can't remember how much damage gaviota did at level 15 Lol, the server i played had it so gaviota was 1000x better than octo since you didn't have to recast it and it's range was MUCH smaller than the real thing so it attacked a lot more. I still went with the normal build leaving it at 15 but i remember it's damage easily doubling octos on a hit by hit basis. (which would be 4500-5000, pretty stable actually) I never got it to max obviously but i probably saw another captain colleague of mine with maxed gaviota, but can't remember his damage. xD Hmm...was that 21k per minute? Lol, that's even worse than i thought. xD Anyway, i know since there's a time difference and all you can't really party at newties that well but when do you think it would be possible to do that? Do you think gaviota would allow you to be effective faster? Now that i think about it, would it matter that much for GMS at the moment whether or not gaviota would be effective? We don't have the newtie mini dungeon yet, so finding a channel to solo is near impossible in my server and if you actually get one you'll probably be KSed out within the hour. >_> Meaning you're probably stuck at anywhere in CWK or kents where mobbing happens constantly. xD That casting during TF i didn't know though, couldn't do that when i played. O_o Yeah, they're both good skills regardless of what we think so we'll settle on that. :3 Ask a Pirate Thread - blitzkrieg - 2008-11-24 Takebacker Wrote:Lol, the server i played had it so gaviota was 1000x better than octo since you didn't have to recast it and it's range was MUCH smaller than the real thing so it attacked a lot more. I was able to kill nest golems way before level 105, though I did HP wash a bit, so it should be no problem when you've actually reached the leech level. another way that a lot of 9x players on kMS party is to have a ranger on the middle platform with his hawk out, while he and the other party members attack the first two newties on that platform. it's pretty good exp, a lot better than soloing. it'd also be possible to have a valkyrie freezing that newtie each time it spawns and have all the party members kill as well. sucks about the map situation.. don't really know what to say besides wait for the mini dungeon to come out lol.. :< the only time I've ever really had a problem at newties was while partying with my friend's bishop there.. but they left after a friend and I spoke with them for a bit. it's just a totally different maturity & respect level over here lol and for casting gaviota during triple fire, you need really precise timing. I was able to practice it a lot since I've been grinding with 1x exp on newties for 28 levels..
Ask a Pirate Thread - Russt - 2008-11-24 Flamesplitter is my nickname for Takebacker's apparent favorite combo, Flamethrower + Ice Splitter. Ahhh. Well i guess 7k per single hit would be the answer for max eh? Support octo still outdoes it though. :/ Hmm...i think that while it's possible to party, would it even matter if you can't get exp from everyone else's kills? The only other benefit is buffs and spawn increase, which isn't that noticeable iirc because newtie spawn is almost constant anyway. Yeah, we got the other dungeons (pig, golem, drum bunny) a few patches ago. We should have it in the next few patches...though that still means at least another month. If it isn't released in the next patch with magatia/CWK then it'll be 09' and that's still long enough for a lot of outlaws to come of newting level. (there's a LOT more than i thought there would be...) KSing is pretty bad from what i hear from my guild. >_> Tons of AMs and bishops enjoying their generape and full screen ohko buttsecks a little too much. Pfft, 50x isn't that different from 1x. Still took me a week or so to get from 90-120, and that was with no WG and a 100%ed peacemaker. xD I'm sure i could have pulled it off if i even knew of the possibility. ![]() Russt Wrote:Flamesplitter is my nickname for Takebacker's apparent favorite combo, Flamethrower + Ice Splitter. Lol, it is the best combo outlaws have. D: Btw, i should really get on dueying you that fish spear...just leveled enough to wear mine a few hours ago but i had to write my othello essay because it's due tomorrow. xD Ask a Pirate Thread - Hiepocrite - 2008-11-24 . Ask a Pirate Thread - Kaasoljoyyx - 2008-11-25 @p/c torpedo: I see them all the time in bello market [level 20 i believe]. I think it's a skelegon drop. I think I even see 30s a bit. From what my jms friend says, all corsair books should be somewhat easy. I've seen every single one [or close to every single one] is a pretty good abundance except canon30 and maybe torpedo30. I've seen canon20 a few times and torpedo 20 a lot. Other ones aren't high priority and are in decent amount. If it's not torpedo20, it's 30 and vice versa for above paragraph. Ask a Pirate Thread - Dusk - 2008-11-25 Edit: Oops, misinformed. Ask a Pirate Thread - Worthyness - 2008-11-26 When is the best time for a brawler to stop using barbs + socerors? *curious* I know warriors can go onto the % pots as soon as they hit 5k+ hp right? So brawlers should be the same. My guess would be level 110 ish? Ask a Pirate Thread - Kaasoljoyyx - 2008-11-26 (Advanced) Homing - For this skill, at level 1, it says 148%. Does this mean it does 148% of your damage or does it add 148% damage to your current skill. I assume it's the "add-on" much like how critical's 100% is an addition to your current skill. - When you use it to target an enemy, will it stay on the enemy until it dies? I assume CCing/CS/MTS/relog, etc will cause it to come off but wondering if you use it, afk on the map, and come back say 10 minutes later, is it still on. Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2008-11-26 Kaasoljoyyx Wrote:(Advanced) Homing Wtp? In game? It's supposed to be 101% iirc. Ask a Pirate Thread - Kaasoljoyyx - 2008-11-26 Fiel Wrote: At level 1 for my skill screen, the description matches what Fiel says. Ask a Pirate Thread - Baklava - 2008-11-26 Kaasoljoyyx Wrote:(Advanced) Homing The 148% deals pure damage. When you throw the egg that releases the parrot, it deals impact damage. Maxed Advanced Homing deals 580% impact and adds +20% damage to every attack skill, for the duration of the parrot. I'm not sure of the 2nd one myself. Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2008-11-26 Ohhh, i thought you meant the added damage to every skill. Which is why i said "101%" because that's the added damage at level 1 for advanced homing. Yeah, it's the damage that casting homing does. Ask a Pirate Thread - Kaasoljoyyx - 2008-11-26 Ah ic, so homing really isn't that helpful for bossing except the "targetting" aspect and it's advanced homing where you get the damage boost to your original attack Is ^ correct? And anyone got an answer for the 2nd part? Ask a Pirate Thread - blitzkrieg - 2008-11-26 Kaasoljoyyx Wrote:Ah ic, so homing really isn't that helpful for bossing except the "targetting" aspect and it's advanced homing where you get the damage boost to your original attack yeah that's basically right. regular homing isn't so great but advanced homing is amazing. as for the second part, it'll stay homed till you kill it or use homing on another monster. |
