It's still written by ONE, and why would ONE be writing two different stories? That'd be completely retarded.

Redraw is just webcomic + extras, it's still the same story written by the same author.

Not that i think we're getting another season anytime soon, this cour is almost surely gonna end with the boros arc and then if we ever get another cour it'll be adapting the garou arc, although i don't think even ONE's version of the garou arc would fit into a single cour, and with the redrawn version's extra chapters it would almost surely need 2 cours.

Also madhouse doesn't have the OPM anime license, bandai visual does, so if they want a second season they can get one without madhouse if they need to. Also the key animators for OPM were freelancers and not madhouse hired, so using a different studio but the same freelancers wouldn't even necessarily be a drop in quality.

It's not so much that they don't do S2s, it's more that they miss a lot of good opportunities and don't animate some that a certain core audience for the shows really want. A good example is just last season, I very much doubt we will ever get an Overlord S2 but a lot of people really liked it and there's more than enough for a second or even third season, since there are 3 source materials to choose from (WN, manga and LN) and all of them are pretty far from where they left off in the plot on the anime. So, yes, they do S2s, but they make poor decisions about which ones to skip on and which ones to go for.

Very rarely do studios have the license and get to decide if a show gets a second season, exceptions exist like kyoani who bought the rights and license for hibike euphonium, but in general it's not the studios decision.

The studio can obviously say no or yes to work on a show, for example iirc madhouse said that they disliked working on mahouka meaning it's likely they'll turn down making another season of that over something else.

I was quite disappointed after they announced the delay because I was really getting into the story at that point. I'll give it a 7/10 because of the unfortunate delay and pacing early on. I could only hope ufotable one day does a S2 since the story looks to be progressing interestingly, but after this disaster, they really need to rethink some planning things.
