Is there any difference between the Mini-dungeon and regular maps (besides being from ks)? And if time runs out, are you sent back to town >.<?

As far as I know, no one can enter your Mini-dungeon and some Mini-dungeons have a different map design (Pig and Ribbon Pig one for example). If the time is about to run out, leave then re-enter.

If the timer runs out, you do get sent back, so just don't let the timer run out. It's an hour and a half, plenty of time. Only takes a second to reset the timer. If you trained at old zombies, it's just like that.

You mean old, OLD Zombies, right? I never had to deal with that timer garbage and I was there for ages.
It will be so nice to have Newt/Skele mini-dungeons. I'll be able to train my I/L arch mage whenever I want, in peace even! (And not have to use Red Wys, which I don't like)
