in october 2007, you were playing your character, and you had been for a while. Just got 4th job, things were great. Then, they come out with an announcement: Everyone from your country is going to be banned! They're opening a new version, and if you want to maple, you'll have to do it there.
Naturally, you'd be quite angry, and maybe even quit. But, let's say you didn't, and you go on to play the new version. Things are going good for a while, and they add lots of nice content to get you all caught up. You play this new version for a year, and get back up to 120.
Surprise! New version is failing, they're going to close it and ship you back to the old version.
Wouldn't you be pissed that they deleted your old 120 character and made you start over, only to force you back to the exact same place a year later?

I think he's saying that previously everyone in HK had been banned from tMS, but now HKMS and tMS are merging.

So a merger means they delete your old character? I thought the whole reason behind the long time was that they were transferring the chars and information over. If that's not the case, then what's the difference between closing the old version and just making people download the other version?

Europeans and GMS was a rare exception, typically (especially for small areas like Hong Kong) they'll just ban everyone from that region.
The people who were already playing Maple in other versions had their accounts banned without announcement or explanation, then they were told they had to play HKMS. Now, they're closing HKMS. Yes, the characters from HKMS will be transferred to TMS, but the point is they shouldn't have banned them from TMS in the first place.

MapleSEA HK players are banned too, I am one of them.

bMS also didn't ban users from GMS, we just can't create new accounts.

No they won't. KMS is constantly coming out with new updates, and TWMS is usually one of the first to get it after them.
I wouldn't be too mad. You get the newest MapleStory updates faster.
I would be mad at the fact all my characters, money, and items got deleted though.
