Note about the Black Mage: The reason his HP bar doesn't go down is because he (as well as the 2 knights in phase 1) have a variable called "ignoreDamage", but the damage gets calculated and updated periodically. Don't know how often though.
I Want it Livestreamed in HD - Endgame - 2018-08-24
His attacks seem to be more frequent than in the KMST footage and he now inflicts darkness.
Also I'm pretty sure I read his HP bar gets updated every 30 minutes.

Holy hell. And it looks like he has unavoidable instadeath attacks too. (The one where white meteors cover the entire screen.)
This Xenon lives far more than the other people i saw recording
@Endgame I-frames works at least(see 3:48 of the video):
At 4:34 he breaks his barrier somehow.

It's finally been done. The Black Mage has been defeated.
Fiel, you know what that means

I haven't watched anything about the story yet because I don't wanna watch it on my phone, but the fact it got defeated after what? Half a day? Less than that? That's so freaking underwhelming. I couldn't care less about Gerard Hitler Darmoor, I wanted a more exciting ending for the Black Mage's story as this will forever be the end of the game for me.
I Want it Livestreamed in HD - Endgame - 2018-08-29
pineapple, what an underwhelming ending. And no super hard mode endgame boss battle that takes the top players at least a month to finally beat?
Black Mage got shafted hard.
And.....
Spoiler
If the player is a Transcendent now, and Mercedes, Aran, Phantom, Angelic Buster, Cadena, Ark, Mihile, etc. are all players, does that mean they're ALL Transcendents? Wha?!

No, you happen to watch the video from a Zero POV. I don't know since when particular content, but they've added unique dialogue for all classes.

The transaltions by Edan arent too clear, but the Black Mage did say that he needed another transcendant to face him and defeat him, that other transcendants would simply accept their destiny while he knew the player wouldnt. IF you take in the fact that the player is manipulating Erda for the 5th job skills and even the desires of the world, sounds like he could really be a transcendant from a story point of view.
So what the Black Mage meant with "Ultimate light found in ultimate darkness" actually refered to throwing the whole world into chaos to raise someone strong enough to kill him and free him of his eternity? Well i guess thats a good argument for the villain of the story

I'll try to explain this as short as possible but it is difficult since explaining the entire story is complicated and lengthy.
Before Maple World and Grandis existed, there was nothing but darkness in the universe. There was one god in the beginning which is known in the lore as the Primordial God. Then we have the Overseers (also known as 'The Voice') who were given god-like powers by the Primordial God. They are responsible for creating everything in these two worlds.
We have the Overseer of Light, the Overseer of Time and the Overseer of Life in each world. Each of them have appointed Transcendents as their guardians to represent them to bring balance and order.
There are mortal and immortal Transcendents. The White Mage was a mortal Transcendent. He had an ambitious dream to save the world with the light, but he failed... He couldn't fix the imperfections of the world. The light has disappeared within him and only the giant darkness was left.
He awakened as the Black Mage when he rejected the destiny that was given to him and in the events of that awakening he became immortal... and full of darkness.
His quote of 'The ultimate light can only be found in the ultimate darkness' has meaning to his idealism. He wanted to create a new world through the power of the ultimate light by destroying the current world with the ultimate darkness.
Through Grendel the Really Old, it was revealed that the Black Mage had the ability to see destiny. He could see any outcome. This explains why he knew that the Heroes sealed him, he knew of the betrayal of some of his commanders, he knew of Will would fail during the first encounter of Alpha and Beta etcetera. The Black Mage wanted to die in this world, but he couldn't since he was an immortal Transcendent. That explains why he wanted to create a new world, a new perfect world without the presence of Transcendents and without chains. A Transcendent is bound by chains who is controlled by the Overseer. It is not possible to free yourself from these chains since they are a powerful force. The only way to free yourself is to get rid of yourself. During the Labyrinth of Suffering it is revealed that the Black Mage was not corrupted with darkness, but it was rather his own choice so he could achieve his ideals.
The other possibility was to have someone go against that destiny and relieve him from this world by defeating him. It was the Player who went against this destiny and defeated him. This was all made possible due to the events of Black Heaven. At that time, the Player was killed by Gelimer by poison. Fortunately, the Alliance revived the Player by using a Seal Stone. Because of this, 'the spindle of destiny has twisted' according to the Black Mage to which Arkarium asks "Has fate changed because of that dimwit?
The Black Mage knew his destiny didn't succeed the moment the Player saved Tana instead if of letting her die during the story of Esfera. The Black Mage had his beliefs, but Gerand Darmoor is an entire different person. Darmoor is also a mortal Transcendent with the powers of 2 Transcendents like the Black Mage did. It is past 3 AM and I am going to bed now.

Turns out the biggest patch was actually the one never mentioned
Apparently the level 200 weapons are some nasty kit. Not only are they more powerful, but they have unique skills attached to them, being an invinciblity skill and a final damage boost skill.

You support my point, the black mage didnt really care about creating a new world, he wanted to die, he knew causing all this mayhem would raise someone strong enough to break the chains of destiny that bound him to an imperfect world to which he was doomed to live in eternally, hence why I said he found his ultimate light in the ultimate darkness he created himself. In the end the Black Mage was just a selfish prick that did all he did for his own benefit, which makes a great argument for a villain
That also explains why when he showed Lucid the world he was trying to create, it was all darkness, because he never had intention of creating one to begin with, he knew he would die in the process.

Got me rly enticed, tyvm for that recap!
I'm getting from this that the black mage's demise at the player's hands is one of the possible outcomes he envisioned from his self plotted liberation.
Though irrelevant to the game's plot, if the player wasn't revived during black heaven's events, would that have lead to the completion of the black mage's rebuilt world and a reality where he keeps existing free from the overseer's chains and his fate?
