State of the Southperry - 2012 - Sardines - 2012-10-29 Eos Wrote:That's an odd repeated claim. We get over 400 unique registered members visiting per day, so we don't really seem to be lacking people. The site is too tame. Imagine it is like this boxing ring: ![]() There is only one thing left that we can do in order to save us from impending gloom. We must summon the steel cage and bring forth steel cage death matches: ![]() We need a steel cage design around the site and around posts themselves to make users feel like every post they make, they are fighting for their lives. One might think that triggering this "steel cage" mental complex would leave users traumatized and cause them to abandon the site. They might leave the site, sure, however at some point when the boring lull of their real lives get to them (trust me that lull gets me every time), they will remember the heart racing thrill of the steel cage and will return to the site in order to post and engage in the thrill that only Southperry can offer: STEEL CAGE DEATH MATCH FORUM POSTING. ONE THREAD. ONE CAGE. SEVERAL POSTERS POSTING FOR THEIR ONE LIFE. ONLY THE BEST MAN WILL BE LEFT STANDING AND THAT PERSON IS NUMERO UNO. I haven't really gone to any other area of the sections of Sleepywood. I still think it's better than basil despite the amount of posting/commenting I do there than here. :3 State of the Southperry - 2012 - KhainiWest - 2012-10-29 Clearly the problem is that we can't post borderline porn anymore. If we could do that this website would be the best. State of the Southperry - 2012 - Curtiss - 2012-10-29 @Sardines: Interesting thought, but I get enough of that at the main forum I go to without wanting to see it happen here. Posting there is sometimes exactly like playing Maple Story where you whack things for EXP (Post count), you get defamed for no reason or just for being blunt and the language control there is off the mediocrity charts. State of the Southperry - 2012 - Chew - 2012-10-29 KhainiWest Wrote:Clearly the problem is that we can't post borderline porn anymore. If we could do that this website would be the best. This... I mean not exactly porn but yeah. One of the main reasons I stopped posting a lot of threads ( I guess that was better for everybody). But some of my threads started to get deleted and all that stuff, sure it's within the forum rules and all but really? do we have to be that strict? I could understand many of them being deleted but there were others that I was like... really? Some of them even get some pinneaples, but oh well. State of the Southperry - 2012 - Words - 2012-10-29 If I wanted to watch porn I'd go elsewhere; almostporn anime (or whatever it was) threads I remember were just spam of disturbing pictures with no actual discussion, what was the point? Besides, rules were made with the intention of bringing more people to the site. Chew I was checking your threads, most of them seem harmless but then I saw the chamberlain one. If your threads that get deleted are grosser than that I think rules and mods are perfect. State of the Southperry - 2012 - Eos - 2012-10-29 Chew Wrote:do we have to be that strict? I could understand many of them being deleted but there were others that I was like... really? Some of them even get some pinneaples, but oh well. 1) We're finally an officially recognized fan site, Nexon is not so friendly with adult imagery. 2) Far more importantly, our host, like the vast majority of them, explicitly states they will shut us down without warning or refund and keep/delete every ounce of our content for having anything they deem porn, obscene or objectionable. Note that means by their standards, not yours, not mine, not anyone else's. The entire reason the obscenity rule got to the point it did is because every time we tried to properly phrase a rule that gave user's rights and freedoms while still protecting our interests as they apply to #2 there, someone went out of their way to try to find the line. So there is no more line. It's now a giant bug zapper and anything that gets to close fries. Privileges have to be earned and respected or they go away. A few idiots ruin it for everyone and since it's a vastly unnecessary privilege in the first place, it went. We're not going to derail this thread with a rehash of that discussion again though, it's simply not up for debate. State of the Southperry - 2012 - Satellite - 2012-10-29 One reason it seems there's less activity here, is because there's not so much spam, trolls, useless posts or million threads about the same subject. Soph Wrote:As an old mod from sleepy, I can say the only thing I wished we had here was more activity. I don't know, even though quite a few people visit daily the maple sections aren't too active compared to what I was used to xDNot sure what year you're talking about but SW seemed pretty inactive for a good while before it closed. State of the Southperry - 2012 - Mazz - 2012-10-29 On the topic of the discussion forum, I found it odd that what was originally posted as a baiting thread ("How do you have fun on MapleStory these days") was moved from Q&A to the general discussion, it'd seem due to a lack of activity. I thought from the first post (and subsequent posts from the TS) it was pretty obvious it was intended to be a trolling thread. I like Southperry a lot and visit several times a day, I just feel like I don't have much to post about anymore though. Maybe it's because all the discussions I care about have already happened, and there hasn't really been any new exciting content for a while. Even if you were right, treating it as a serious question and answering it is legitimate. State of the Southperry - 2012 - KhainiWest - 2012-10-29 I can't believe you guys took that post seriously , anyone who still has a problem with this is retardedThe problem isn't the site it's the content that we are dedicated too. It's stale, it's repeated, and it's predictable. Could you imagine if they did another world that was much like cwk storywise? Or NLC? This site would be BUZZING. New class that uses cleaning supplies that can hit 180 times a second is nothing exciting. Nexon has rode the "class" pony too much, State of the Southperry - 2012 - Curtiss - 2012-10-29 Mazz Wrote:On the topic of the discussion forum, I found it odd that what was originally posted as a baiting thread ("How do you have fun on MapleStory these days") was moved from Q&A to the general discussion, it'd seem due to a lack of activity. Maybe it's because all the discussions I care about have already happened, and there hasn't really been any new exciting content for a while. Regardless of intent, I did think there was at least enough there that I could opine. It also fit in less with the other two sections (Q & A, Should I...) and was something most people might be able to discuss so I guess it still belongs at GD. :F3: Seconding lack of new content though. I can see that SP does not rehash content unlike other forums, which is why it is partially expected that there would be a dearth of posts. State of the Southperry - 2012 - MetaSeraphim - 2012-10-29 Due to my repeated fading in and out of existence I have no true clue on how the site is doing. But during one of the times where I am here and not in another dimension I am always seeing the same people around, with few new people here and there. If you can recall, the staff set up a list of people who visited the site within...24 hours? There were a decent amount of users and visitors passing by. The problem, as Soph said, was the lack of actual activity. Very small pockets of posting could be seen in certain world subforums and lolms. MetaSeraphim Wrote:Due to my repeated fading in and out of existence I have no true clue on how the site is doing. Combine this with what KhainiWest brought up, more new people would probably post if there was better new content being released. -------------- General Entertainment [music, movies, etc] seems to have a lot of potential. If only more people ventured there. What's the matter? That being said, meet you guys there when the Hobbit's finally out this year. ![]() Personally though, I'd say that I finally decided to sign up after years of lurking because I thought of things that I wanted to say as I previously only lurked to check out the latest data. The way SP is set up (Many segregated sections) also lends to the illusion that less is being discussed as things tend to get confined within one post but I remember the extractions post getting quite a lot of comments within a few hours. Wouldn't want to end up like the cesspools of other forums, letting rule-breakers run rampant and free spamming obscenities everywhere. Heck, I would say that SP is still a bit too much on the lenient side. State of the Southperry - 2012 - TaliaNCo - 2012-10-30
