Dark Link Wrote:Scamming? Sir, I believe you need to look up the definition of "Scamming", because what Nexon did last year was far from "Scamming".

LOL I think I'm done trying to debate this with you. After a response like that, I have absolutely nothing more to say to you, since you seem to have the mindset where if it doesn't happen to you personally, it doesn't really matter much.

Oh, but it DID happen to me last year, but I wasn't throwing a tantrum, because I didn't get what I wanted.
Sorry, but the truth hurts sometimes. Have fun being in denial.

Dark Link Wrote:I'm sorry, but what? Last I checked, 10 per server = LIMITED
There's either "Limited" or "Unlimited" and unless the item quantity is set to "Infinite", then it's LIMITED.

No, it's more "limited" doesn't make people think "total of 200 cubes for a game population of hundreds of thousands".
No rational person would think that when they heard "limited".

Black Friday Sale 2011 - SaptaZapta - 2011-11-22

This is why in Israel the law was recently changed.
Stores can no longer advertise items at extra low cost, or free gifts, and then use the "quantities are limited" or "while supplies last" phrases to cover a bait-and-switch.
They have to actually specify what the quantity is, right there in the ad.

Customers usually assume that "limited quantities" are still in reasonable proportion to the expected demand.
However, since Nexon has pulled this "10 per server" stunt repeatedly, any Nexon customer who still believes he will be able to get anything on Black Friday, nevermind $100+ worth of cheap CS goods, is indeed a chump. "Fool me once" etc.

No amount of permanent pets + equips, permanent transparent equips, hyper tele rocks or discounted hired merchants will make me charge NX for this farce of an event.

Black Friday Sale 2011 - street - 2011-11-22

Dark link has valid points the rest of you are just talking bs.

The quantity will be limited and thats all their is to it.

Black Friday Sale 2011 - Blades4hire - 2011-11-22

Hey guys, why don't all of you send me $1000 through paypal. I'll give you a gold bar tommorow. Be sure to do it quick before I run out!
Oh, since you've all sent me your money, there's only one gold bar, so only one person gets it!
I did say supplies were limited.

This is your argument^

Your "Argument" is basically asking us how many stupid people will fall for it. It's still not a scam.
Ever hear the line "It's too good to be true"? There it is lol.

I'm not sure if you're following the conversation.
We're not arguing about if it's going to be limited.
We're arguing if it's a scam or not.

Too good to be true IS a scam.

Ok, bad term to use, but you know what I mean! Frown
He's still asking how many stupid / gullible people he can get.

When common sense dictates something else, it's not gullibility. Maybe after the 2nd time, yes. 3rd or 4th time, definitely.
But most people haven't played for the 3-5 years necessary to learn how much bullshit Nexon gives us, and how low they stoop (especially on this, which is a huge pineapple YOU to everyone).

I can agree with this. Although I don't think they are scamming us, it really is pretty shitty of them to advertise the "great sales" they are having and then slap us in the face with 10 per server. It's just stupid on there part. I'm waiting until Legend to buy cubes.

Yeah, Black Friday has never had unlimited deals on good items. It's rare for MS to put them on sale at all cause guess what - people buy them at regular prices anyway.

Well last year was the first time they pulled that kind of crap. 2009 and previous years they had decent / good quantities.
Really this is a "Fool me once, Fool me twice" thing now.

Sounds like a pretty nice system, honestly, though the fact that they are still able to limit it at all is still slightly disheartening. It's not like anything in this world is difficult to make anymore, machines do it all anyway, so why limit the quantity at all?

And yeah, Black Friday sales as a whole are stupid because of that; they barely lose any money on the cheap sales and people waste hours in line trying to get at the 1-2 of what they want. All it does is solidify an unconscious dependency on the object in question, and in turn, the store in question.

Look, technically I don't think it is/was a "scam" HOWEVER it IS/WAS unacceptable business practice. And although the did not lie, they deliberately mislead us through what was implied (weather or not that was the customers fault is up to you) but at least here in NZ we have laws regarding how you advertise to minors and I would assume that the US does aswell and Nexon has explicitly stated that their target market includes the 13-18 yr old range (I am aware that it is not just that range) and that form of advertising would be unacceptable here. Sounds to me that what Nexon is doing is a scam. How can anyone argue that promising big sales and then limiting sales to only 10 items per server is not deceptive.
Ten items is not 'limited quantities' except for the first couple people with the fastest internet and fastest fingers. Its just plain unavailable for everyone else after the first few seconds.
What Nexon is doing should be illegal. Just because some are foolish enough to fall for the tricks does not make it legit.

Black Friday Sale 2011 - ElderTree - 2011-11-22

The biggest difference between this BFS and a BFS in a real store: How the money is made.

Nexon profits from the CHARGING of NX in anticipation of getting a good deal. It does not matter if you can actually get an item. You've already charged the NX, and they've already made their money. The whole goal is just to get people to charge NX, not necessarily to encourage buying something in the CS. Then you're just left with a pile of NX after the sale that you have to use up just so that a hacker can't karma all your good pomegranate away.

On the other hand, a real store takes a LOSS on the limited quantity doorbusters just to get you into the store. They do this so that you will hopefully grab something else while you're in there (that isn't a doorbuster), or so that you strengthen your store loyalty (and therefore are more likely to spend money there in the future).

Black Friday Sale 2011 - The Great One - 2011-11-22

Blades4hire Wrote:Do you honestly think that to their main audience of 12-16 year old boys, that that statement would be read, and interpreted as a reference to limited quantities?
Even if it was, what it should say is "check the CS within 10 seconds of the sale or miss out!"
All black friday items are limited, yes, but 10 is such a pitifully low amount, that its obvious that their intent was to mislead.

Seeing as how reading comprehension is a kindergarten skill Yea I would expect a 13 year old to put "get em before there gone" as omg the supplies are limited.

As link said stop defending stupid people.

Hell black Friday itself should imply limited supplies why the hell do you think people wait outside said walmart at 2 am. To get the deals before there gone.
